good morning, all - checking in on the east coast - northern VA.
order for 4s 16MB is still backordered - pre-order in-store 1:30pm 10/7, email confirmation 3:59pm 10/7.
checking on movement of pre-orders for att store where i ordered, looks like only 1 out of 7 pre-orders that was made on 10/7 got a tracking number yesterday. rest are on backorder. lone pre-order that got changed was 16MB.
those are pre-orders that are being delivered to store. my pre-order was for 2 phones for home delivery with order numbers in 60's.
to check on pre-orders being delivered to store, use order status page, search method: business/work phone of store, phone #: store's phone number, zipcode: store's zipcode.
at my store, 7 iphone 4s's were ordered on 10/7. one got shipped on 10/10 (lucky person), one got cancelled (even luckier - they lied that they couldn't do it), one got shipped on 10/17. rest are backordered.
my order number and order numbers from this store seem to follow this format:
XY137xxxxxxxx where
XY: region/state (?)
137: store (?)
xxxxxxxxx: 8-digit unique order number
tried YoMan's method in checking shipments for my zipcode - no luck. my order numbers with zipcode worked. but any order numbers lower than mine didn't (mine is in 62, 64, tried 60, 58, 50, etc.).
good luck and congrats to all who are getting shipments.
class action suit is sounding real good.
anyone know if phones ordered at the same time will ship separately? I ordered two and one is still on backorder and the other is processing
Ordered 2phones in AT&T store - 10/7 10am central 32black. 64 black. Got tracking # for 32 today. Will be here tomorrow 10/20. No tracking # for 64 gig. But no longer back ordered
i just called for kicks.
after being off and on hold for an hour here's the gist-
her: your order shipped from the (mythical) warehouse.
me: great. do you have a tracking number?
her: it's not showing one, as it's in progress of being shipped.
me: when was it shipped?
her: on the 14th.
me: and there's no tracking number? and isn't it going by fed ex priority overnight? today's the 20th. it should've been on my porch by now.
her: it's taking 15-20 days to ship the 4s out.
me: 15-20 from the day it shipped or 15-20 from day the order was placed?
her: from the day it shipped.
me: that makes no sense. fed ex does not take 15 days to ship something. that's why it's called "overnight".
her: sorry, sir, that's what they told us, blah blah blah.
me: ok, just so we're clear, you show i ordered on the 10th - but i placed my order on the 7th, there was a billing snafu and i called early monday morning on the 10th and straightened it out. you're now showing that order number xxxx was shipped on the 14th but there's no tracking number.
her: that's correct sir.
<hang up>
me: you are so completely full of crap. none of what you just told me made any sense. if i wasn't in my office i'd demand a supe and go crazy.
----------
i've decided i would love nothing more to find one in a store (best buy, apple, etc.) somewhere just so i can call and demand the cancel.
at&t: but it's shipped sir.
me: really? what's the tracking number?
at&t: we don't have that but it's shipped.
me: you can't offer me any proof that it's shipped and you haven't charged me for the product you sold me. there's no reason it can't be cancelled. by the way, the method in which you all conduct business is a farce and can only be compared to a ponzi scheme. good day.
at&t: blah blah blah
me: i said good day!
from that point if they continued to refuse i would probably go into a store and make a huge scene.
i heart daydreaming.
I still can;t track my order. Its in the FAKE in process status. No one can give me any info. The lady today said it was a pre-order. I cut her off: pre-order means ON launch day or before NOT 2 weeks later. GRRRRRRR![]()

For all those claiming that those of us that have received their iPhone 4S are either lying, being paid by AT&T, or some other weird thing do you have any explanation for this report?
They have activated 1 million iPhone 4S phones. 1 million in the first 4-5 days of availability. So have some patience and you will receive your phone too. But these claims that the majority have not received their iPhone 4S are squashed by this report.

I don't think anyone here disputes that people have received phones. They say they activated 1 million but how many were actually sold? The simple fact is that not all preordered phones have been sent out. What percentage of preordered phones have been activated?
And that's where most of us here have our issue. There is no reason why people preordering on 10/07 should not have received their phone or at minimum a more concrete ship date. And many us have had opportunities to buy in store but have not been allowed to cancel preorders. That's ridiculous and defeats the purpose of even preordering.
Yes, it's a phone and I can wait. But I thought by preordering I would cut down on that wait to get my iPhone, not lengthen it.
Why would someone lie about NOT receiving their iPhone? Who's to say AT&T 1 mil count is accurate?
