correction: that's 10/19 that one 4s-16MB is being shipped to store, not 10/17. originally ordered on 10/7.

Hang on guys, at least we have phones moving now, it's moving slow, but that's normal because there are 10ths of thousands of phones waiting.... sit tight.. mine 16GB white, still back ordered.... it will come.~

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/9A334)

So it seems like the white 16gb phones are the least ones being sent. I ordered in store 10/8 and no progress. Still backordered and with order number with X as the first letter

Finally a change here! My white 32GB 4S in-store order (Oct 7 noon EST) is nolonger showing as back-ordered but still pending shipping, my card has not yet been charged either. One step closer it would seem...

good morning, all - checking in on the east coast - northern VA.

order for 4s 16MB is still backordered - pre-order in-store 1:30pm 10/7, email confirmation 3:59pm 10/7.

checking on movement of pre-orders for att store where i ordered, looks like only 1 out of 7 pre-orders that was made on 10/7 got a tracking number yesterday. rest are on backorder. lone pre-order that got changed was 16MB.

those are pre-orders that are being delivered to store. my pre-order was for 2 phones for home delivery with order numbers in 60's.

to check on pre-orders being delivered to store, use order status page, search method: business/work phone of store, phone #: store's phone number, zipcode: store's zipcode.

at my store, 7 iphone 4s's were ordered on 10/7. one got shipped on 10/10 (lucky person), one got cancelled (even luckier - they lied that they couldn't do it), one got shipped on 10/17. rest are backordered.

my order number and order numbers from this store seem to follow this format:

XY137xxxxxxxx where
XY: region/state (?)
137: store (?)
xxxxxxxxx: 8-digit unique order number

tried YoMan's method in checking shipments for my zipcode - no luck. my order numbers with zipcode worked. but any order numbers lower than mine didn't (mine is in 62, 64, tried 60, 58, 50, etc.).

good luck and congrats to all who are getting shipments.

class action suit is sounding real good
.

Words such as those are why they attempt to cover themselves and say 14-21 days or 21-28 days so in court they can say we told you the dates and delivered in between them.

It's mind boggling how VZ is managing to ship iPhones out on a daily basis. Just checked the thread and saw someone who ordered on the 11th(albeit 2 days before me) got their phone shipped yesterday. I hope A&T is gearing up for one big shipment like they did for launch day between today and tomorrow. Just a thought.

anyone know if phones ordered at the same time will ship separately? I ordered two and one is still on backorder and the other is processing

i can only speak for myself, who ordered one for me and one of the wife. the wife has hers. mine, according to at&t, is in the warehouse preparing for shipment. i suspect it's the same warehouse that holds the ark of the convenant and it's in a wooden box.

Ordered 2phones in AT&T store - 10/7 10am central 32black. 64 black. Got tracking # for 32 today. Will be here tomorrow 10/20. No tracking # for 64 gig. But no longer back ordered

I might add. Shipped from Ft. Worth, TX. - Overnight.

Not backordered now...

I think with the rush of people saying no longer backordered, like me,
just had the backordered tick box "unchecked" so it seemed like they (ATT)
were actually doing something.

Let's see how long we have:
Status: In progress
Qty Ordered: 1
Qty Shipped: 0
Qty Backordered: 0
Tracking Number: Pending shipment

I'll bet I have this for almost a week. So optimistic, aren't I.

i just called for kicks.

after being off and on hold for an hour here's the gist-
her: your order shipped from the (mythical) warehouse.
me: great. do you have a tracking number?
her: it's not showing one, as it's in progress of being shipped.
me: when was it shipped?
her: on the 14th.
me: and there's no tracking number? and isn't it going by fed ex priority overnight? today's the 20th. it should've been on my porch by now.
her: it's taking 15-20 days to ship the 4s out.
me: 15-20 from the day it shipped or 15-20 from day the order was placed?
her: from the day it shipped.
me: that makes no sense. fed ex does not take 15 days to ship something. that's why it's called "overnight".
her: sorry, sir, that's what they told us, blah blah blah.
me: ok, just so we're clear, you show i ordered on the 10th - but i placed my order on the 7th, there was a billing snafu and i called early monday morning on the 10th and straightened it out. you're now showing that order number xxxx was shipped on the 14th but there's no tracking number.
her: that's correct sir.

<hang up>
me: you are so completely full of crap. none of what you just told me made any sense. if i wasn't in my office i'd demand a supe and go crazy.

----------

i've decided i would love nothing more to find one in a store (best buy, apple, etc.) somewhere just so i can call and demand the cancel.

at&t: but it's shipped sir.
me: really? what's the tracking number?
at&t: we don't have that but it's shipped.
me: you can't offer me any proof that it's shipped and you haven't charged me for the product you sold me. there's no reason it can't be cancelled. by the way, the method in which you all conduct business is a farce and can only be compared to a ponzi scheme. good day.
at&t: blah blah blah
me: i said good day!

from that point if they continued to refuse i would probably go into a store and make a huge scene.

i heart daydreaming.

I still can;t track my order. Its in the FAKE in process status. No one can give me any info. The lady today said it was a pre-order. I cut her off: pre-order means ON launch day or before NOT 2 weeks later. GRRRRRRR:mad::mad::mad:

interestingly i just called the automated number and it says "the items you requested are on backorder..." i'll call them at lunch when i'm not around anyone and go beyond ape@%#$. this is ridiculous.

Well, FINALLY my phone has shipped. I used to see...

4s_shipping.jpg

Until yesterday. There's a tracker number there now and the number 1 moved from back-order to shipping column. Tracking number says my phone will be here by 3pm via FedEx today.

Only issue I have is I was so fed up with AT&T and this preorder crap that I went to Verizon the day the iphone was released and got me and wife 4s's. It cancelled my service with AT&T when I ported the numbers over and I was totally ok with that being my contract was up. So now I'm getting a 4s for $200 from AT&T? Guess it didn't cancel that 4s I preordered lol.

I'm still going to take it down to the local AT&T store when its gets here so I don't get screwed over by them any longer, I'm sure a month from now I'll get a bill for like $800 to cover the cost of that phone.

Anyway, just letting people that preordered from their local store on Oct 7 like I did, to recheck your order status, your's might have been shipped.

Just checked the stores status that I pre-ordered my phone at... The last shipment they had was on July 31st.....

This is insanity. The retail store I pre-ordered 16gb white from is less than 1 mile away from the biggest ATT office in all of California....

Thousands of people work there, but no, we still have to wait for our damn phones.

AT&T activates, yes ACTIVATES 1 million iPhone 4S'

https://www.macrumors.com/2011/10/20/att-announces-one-million-iphone-4s-activations-as-iphone/

For all those claiming that those of us that have received their iPhone 4S are either lying, being paid by AT&T, or some other weird thing do you have any explanation for this report?

They have activated 1 million iPhone 4S phones. 1 million in the first 4-5 days of availability. So have some patience and you will receive your phone too. But these claims that the majority have not received their iPhone 4S are squashed by this report.

Why would someone lie about NOT receiving their iPhone? Who's to say AT&T 1 mil count is accurate?

Sadly, my recent saga mirrors many here....

I ordered the phone in an AT&T store 10.10 and was told 1 week until delivery. After one week, I called 611 and was told 21-28 days, so I asked to cancel the order. They told me I had to handle that in the store. So yesterday, I called my store and they refused to cancel the order by claiming they couldn't. I went to the store and canceled the line (new line with iPhone)... they were rather pissy and frustrated explaining that everyone is waiting for their phone. I replied, I'm not... I'm picking one up today at the Apple store.. cancel this line. She finally did after trying to persuade me to keep the order. She even at first claimed I couldn't cancel the line without an ETF... until I explained I read the contract and it stated I had 30 days to cancel without ETF.

After canceling, she said I would still get the iPhone and would need to return to the store. She then magically found a way to cancel the order AFTER canceling the line.

Anyway, I got my iPhone from the Apple store and I'm happy now.

Best of luck to those of you who can't just cancel the line. It's a sham.

If it helps, the message I received notifying me of the cancelation listed this as the reason...

"This is to notify you that your iPhone ® order below has been cancelled, possibly due to one of the following reasons:

. Invalid shipping address
. Invalid credit card information"

I don't think anyone here disputes that people have received phones. They say they activated 1 million but how many were actually sold? The simple fact is that not all preordered phones have been sent out. What percentage of preordered phones have been activated?

And that's where most of us here have our issue. There is no reason why people preordering on 10/07 should not have received their phone or at minimum a more concrete ship date. And many us have had opportunities to buy in store but have not been allowed to cancel preorders. That's ridiculous and defeats the purpose of even preordering.

Yes, it's a phone and I can wait. But I thought by preordering I would cut down on that wait to get my iPhone, not lengthen it.

I am not claiming that anyone that has not received their phone is lying. I am saying that the reverse is true. People have claimed that those of us that said we received our phones were lying. They called me plenty of other names too because I wasn't echoing the same experience as them.

You would be wrong there. People have claimed that I'm lying multiple times when I listed my experience and how good it was.

I am not claiming that all pre-orders were delivered yet. What I am saying is that if you activate 1 million devices you are not sitting on your hands and that those that have not received their devices yet are in the minority. Do you think that there are more than 1 million people that have pre-ordered and NOT received their phones? That would be an amazing number, far far exceeding anything that AT&T has ever sold in the past.

I sympathize with anyone that has not received their iPhone 4S yet. I would hate to be in their shoes. All I am saying is that it doesn't rise to the level of calling those that have received them liars and worse, calling for class action lawsuits, claiming grand conspiracies by AT&T executives, and everything else that has been going on in this forum.

Here's hoping you all receive your phones by tomorrow. I'm pulling for you. As hard as it is (and I've been in your shoes with things I've ordered in the past) just try to remember that once you receive it this extra time will just be a small drop in the bucket compared to the length of time you get to enjoy your new phone. I know it is hard but you will have it soon.
