https://www.macrumors.com/2011/10/20/att-announces-one-million-iphone-4s-activations-as-iphone/

For all those claiming that those of us that have received their iPhone 4S are either lying, being paid by AT&T, or some other weird thing do you have any explanation for this report?

They have activated 1 million iPhone 4S phones. 1 million in the first 4-5 days of availability. So have some patience and you will receive your phone too. But these claims that the majority have not received their iPhone 4S are squashed by this report.

Why do you care so much? I've been following this thread and you got your phone on 10/14. I'll agree that the conspiracy theories are a little far fetched. However, its not a theory that instore orders, even those placed on 10/7, have yet to be shipped, but online orders made after 10/7 have.

A few pages back you misunderstood why people are angry from reading a few ridiculous posts, those do not represent the majority still posting. We get it you got your phone on time and love AT&T, you think they are great, blah, blah, blah.

After reading all your relentless posts defending AT&T, I am convinced that you would probably be posting the opposite if you had not received your phone on the 14th, most likely reposting the conspiracy theories you hate. Let it go, AT&T did not do a bang up job when it came to the release of the iphone 4S.

People who preordered and have not received there phone have valid points. AT&T's first come, first served, is highly inaccurate if a person can walk in and buy a phone and people who preordered are still sitting in backorder purgatory.

Pre-ordered in-store 10/7 at opening 9 AM PST

Never got any emails about my order.

Didn't get it on launch day.

Went in to countless AT&T stores.

Even talked to countless CSRs.

They couldn't give me an exact date.

However, I went to an AT&T store, and there was actually an employee who was very kind and down to earth. She assured me that my phone would be here by friday.

Sure enough, I just checked my order status this morning and to my surprise i FINALLY have a tracking number. It's FINALLY coming in today via FEDEX. (Shipped from Texas, I live in Cali)

(I still didn't receive any emails about it though.)

So if you ordered in-store, you might want to check your order status quite frequently these next two days. There is finally hope.

It just sucks though, cause I took my iMac to the apple store yesterday to get the display fixed. (without knowing my phone was coming today. If that was the case I would've held it a day longer.) so on top of waiting 6 days for the phone, I gotta wait another 5 for my computer. :(

was just thinking. if pre-orders got "sold out" what does that even mean? it's not like they ever had them in stock to begin with.

Pre-ordered in-store 10/7 at opening 9 AM PST

With time zone difference that would have been close to when I pre-ordered EST. I'm still without tracking etc. What version did you order? I've got a feeling that my white 32 GB might be the most popular version, thus my long wait.

Wow just got Off the phone with a csr manager and now it's gonna take an additional 3 days to get my order canceled. This is after I was originally told 24-48 hours.

Btw they keep saying about the terms and conditions where on there did it say AT&T has the right to change shipping terms without notice and also has the ability to give faulty information to its customers with no remorse?

ordered a black 64 GB.

Lady at AT&T told me that AT&T was getting a new shipment this week, so just stay posted.

But then again, AT&T just likes telling you things to keep you from getting mad.

Seriously. The sad part is, when you have to sign they don't really give you time to read the whole thing. Then they tell you to read the receipt for T&C, but you don't get to read that until AFTER you pay and can no longer back out.

i suspect it's the same warehouse that holds the ark of the convenant and it's in a wooden box.

I love you! (Don't tell your wife.) Thanks for making me smile, no matter how frustrated I am, I'm glad of the people on this thread!

I'm done checking my order status. I'll get an email whenever it decides to ship. Until then this thread is better for updates.

OMG! OMG! It.......it shipppd!

My iPhone shipped out of Fort Worth!<Thump - me fainting>. Where was I ,
yes the ATT page says shipped, have a tracking number and FedEx says "picked Up".

Give me oxygen.

Seems like they really are starting to move.

Background:
Ordered 32GB and 16GB 10/7 10:30AM EST
Got 32GB a week later on 10/14, 16GB backordered.
Yesterday 10/19 "backordered" dropped from status, no other status
Was "In progress" and "Pending Shipment"
Today shipped with a tracking number and FedEx picked it up in Tx.

I only care because people were so over the top with their hatred that I felt I needed to post about my experience. Most people that have a good experience will never say anything while those that have a bad experience will tell at least 10 people.

I make it a habit to give praise to people when they do a good job. I emailed my CSR and thanked her for being so helpful. Last year when I upgraded to the 4 the manager and rep were so helpful that I emailed their VP. Both of them have since received promotions. I do this because I think that spreading positive things make the world a much better place. If you don't agree with that then the least you can do is not question my motives for being a positive person.

Has anyone's iPhone shipped ahead of AT&T's estimated shipping range?

Your iPhone will ship in approximately 14 to 21 days*
Makes me wonder if they'll wait until the 14th day (tomorrow) at the soonest to ship it.

Yes. When I ordered mine on 10/7 I received an email that stated the following later that day.

AT&T Order Confirmation - iPhone said:
Thank you for your recent order. Your iPhone will ship in approximately 14 to 21 days*.

I then received an email on 10/12 letting me know that it had shipped and I received it on 10/14.

Frank

So you were told the same 14 to 21 days* range as me but for some reason you got ahead in line... Did you order before me? (Noon EST) Or did you order a color/capacity of the 4S that has less demand? (I'm white 32GB)

There still doesn't seem to be a logical explanation for who gets their phone first and when...

How many of these were walk-in buys? These numbers don't "squash" anything. Your argument is completely based off of assumption.

Pre-ordered on 10/11, black 32GB. Still on backorder status here. Online order through AT&T website. This was my first pre-order, and unless I'm up at the crack of dawn for the opening of pre-orders, I likely won't again.

What happens to my eligibility date 2 years from now? Date of pre-order or date of activation?

According to today's AT&T line of the day, its 14-21 BUSINESS days. I have been calling for weeks (since the website still shows me nothing) and this is the first time I heard this. I assumed it, but they never said it.

As long as it shows up this month, I have to be grateful as my true upgrade date is not until 11/25. So, anything before that is more than they owe me.

Just wished I could track it. BTW she told me 'in progress' is not backordered. We shall see....

I just received the welcome to AT&T text, but still no tracking number.

4s 16GB Black off backorder

Been following this thread for a bit and thought I would finally post something. As of this morning around 10:45 PST my 16GB Black went from backorder 1 to backorder zero. I purchased this and a 16GB White in local store on Oct 7th when they first opened (confirmation at 10:48 AM PST). The white one is still backordered. Holding out hope for delivery soon!

Gives me hope! We ordered 2 iphones in store on Oct 7, before 1100am and around noon today, the 16GB black iphone "backordered" status was dropped(no tracking # ) and the white 16GB iphone is still saying "backordered"...really sick of this crappy go phone!

So... Clearly I have too much time on my hands...

Here is a report of all the orders placed in my local AT&T store - I stopped at my order... (I live in a small town, so it's not very long)

It appears that if you ordered a 64GB, you should get it sooner than any of the other models.

Phone just arrived and why not have some more trouble. Won't let me activate because AT&T is experiencing technical difficulties. Shocking

Frankly -

I agree some of the posts were over the top but they do reflect a frustration with the AT&T customer service experience. It is a reasonable expectation that AT&T be able to communicate when they will be shipping back ordered products. It is also reasonable for customers to be able to cancel orders if they have not been billed or shipped. Your positive experience with AT&T in no way diminishes the extremely poor and unethical treatment that many people have experienced. This is clearly demonstrated by the 242 pages in this thread. I also do not consider it a good business practice to string along loyal current customers and at the same time provide product for retail customers.

Also keep in mind that when you call for an updated status on your shipment they tell you that your shipment is sitting in a ware house waiting to be shipped. It is obvious is not a true statement in most cases because people who pre ordered on the 7 still have not received a shipment nor have any idea of when a shipment will occur. This is simply inexcusable for any credible company. If AT&T was not a operating in a protected, regulated environment (not a lot of competition) it would went out of business a long time ago. The iPhone and its loyal customer base should get a lot of credit with sticking with AT&T. The iPhone has been credited with being a launching point for the future of AT&T and has heled it gain many new customers.

You can be as positive as you like and are entitled to your opinion but that in no way alters the fact that AT&T has not provided a reasonable service level to some its customers. I would ask you to respect this fact and point out that this thread was created specifically to cover ATT issues with the iPhone launch; not your past experiences with AT&T. Lastly, I am slightly annoyed by your lack empathy and agree with a previous poster that recommended that we ignore your comments because you were more of a distraction than a positive contributor.

how is everyone figuring out the statuses of other pre-orders at their stores? I'm entering order numbers around mine with the store's zip and I get nothing. I'm getting mine shipped to a different zip. I'm also in a city so maybe most are getting it shipped to different zips?
