AT&T iPhone 4S Pre-Order Status Thread

We are waiting for same model 16GB white. And both of us still back-ordered. Hang on, yes~ and i did the same thing what you did and post some good news on the last page. Let's hope we get our tracking info tomorrow or Friday. Cheers~~

lol, guys i've did the same thing on the 13th before the launch day.... and dam those days were painful!!! now it's our turn to look.... lol~ Just want to tell you thou, unless you order on 10/7 otherwise maybe tomorrow will be the best bet. i order mine during afternoon so im expecting it tomorrow. Sleep tight my friend and tomorrow will be a good day.

And sorry if you've said this before, but when did you order? It sounds like the black 32s are shipping again and I'm really hoping mine will be with the bunch!

I ordered my iPhone 4S 32GB White on Friday Oct 7th at 10:30am central time in my local AT&T store.
I just noticed tonight that my iPhone is no longer "backorder".
My nephew who ordered his 32GB Black at the same time got an email saying his has shipped even with a tracking number!

Ordered my new line of service with a 16GB 4S a tad late on 10/7 (7:40pm CST). Still on back order.
EDIT: Should also mention I pre-ordered via my company's AT&T Premier portal.

Has anyone tried to cancel their order and been told that it's impossible?
This should be illegal!
I tried to cancel my order due to the longer than expected delay in shipping. I was I called the AT&T store where I "preordered" that I could not cancel. I called customer service and kept escalating until a 'manager' was willing to listen. When I informed that that this could lead to a class action suit because customers should be able to cancel an order that hasn't even shipped yet, they finally started listening.
If you are trying to cancel but are receiving the runaround: please consider the following:
1) file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau

2) Contact AT&T headquarters to file a complaint, making it very clear that this could lead to a class action lawsuit

3) Call customer service an ask to speak with a supervisor. When discussing your frustrations with attempts to cancel your order, make it very clear that this could lead to a class action law suit. (Trust me, suddenly they start taking it seriously).

I ordered on 10/7 around 5pm AK Time, well today I called and the CSR rep for Premier department. Said that if you ordered on the 7th or 8th it will be shipped from the warehouse in 14 to 21 days.

I preordered iPhones online through AT&T for myself and my parents on the 7th. It is now the 19th and as of this afternoon they were STILL backordered. And the customer service reps were STILL telling me it would take 21-28 days.
So after calling AT&T multiple times since the 14th when I realized I wouldn't get them on launch day, I finally got in touch with someone that would let me cancel my order. My order was cancelled and I got the confirmation email that it was cancelled while I was still on the phone with them.
At 9pm tonight, I successfully reserved two iPhones at the Apple store near me through apple.com (I'll get the third later, I can only reserve two at a time this way) and I will be picking them up tomorrow.
TDLR: Cancelled preorders, went through Apple.com, picking up iPhones tomorrow

Same happened to me. First one on the order shows 0 backordered now, but the second one still showing 1 backordered. No tracking either. Keep me updated on yours and i'll do the same!

Thanks for the updates guys, sometime in the last three hours my two black 64s have moved to "processing", which may still be meaningless, but certainly is new and exciting!

Don't understand why everyone is bashing AT&T? When iPad2s came out - Preordered from Apple within first 10 minutes of site going live and I received iPad weeks after people who ordered much latter from apple did.
We are talking millions of iPhones, 6 different models, 3 brands (USA) - apple can't possibly supply vendors every phone in the order that they are sold.

order for 4s 16MB is still backordered - pre-order in-store 1:30pm 10/7, email confirmation 3:59pm 10/7.
checking on movement of pre-orders for att store where i ordered, looks like only 1 out of 7 pre-orders that was made on 10/7 got a tracking number yesterday. rest are on backorder. lone pre-order that got changed was 16MB.
those are pre-orders that are being delivered to store. my pre-order was for 2 phones for home delivery with order numbers in 60's.
to check on pre-orders being delivered to store, use order status page, search method: business/work phone of store, phone #: store's phone number, zipcode: store's zipcode.
at my store, 7 iphone 4s's were ordered on 10/7. one got shipped on 10/10 (lucky person), one got cancelled (even luckier - they lied that they couldn't do it), one got shipped on 10/17. rest are backordered.
my order number and order numbers from this store seem to follow this format:
XY137xxxxxxxx where
XY: region/state (?)
137: store (?)
xxxxxxxxx: 8-digit unique order number
tried YoMan's method in checking shipments for my zipcode - no luck. my order numbers with zipcode worked. but any order numbers lower than mine didn't (mine is in 62, 64, tried 60, 58, 50, etc.).
