For those of you who can't check their order status online and are getting an error message... maybe this will help you too. My order was canceled by the system and ATT initiated reorder without my knowledge:
I ordered at 7:16 a.m. ET on 10/7 over the phone and accepted terms and conditions at 10:32 a.m. ET on 10/7. I talked to 5 different ATT reps today (2 first phone call, 3 second).
Call 1: The first rep (in order status dept.) said I had a 21-28 day shipment date and couldn't provide more info, but could see my order. Couldn't answer why I couldn't see it. Rep #2 told me that the order # provided at time of call had been updated and some "changes" were made over the weekend. Refused to provide new order # and refused to give me a shipment time frame only saying they couldn't guarantee delivery on the 14th and all orders may take 28 days to ship. I ended call to run to a meeting (yes, productive morning at work!)
Call 2: The first rep said my order was canceled over the weekend due to system error on ATT's part. The system initiated a reorder on 10/9 around 8 p.m. (no email notification!) and I was now looking at a 21-28 day shipment time. At this point I was so aggravated based on the terrible service received I attempted to cancel my order completely. I'd rather give my $ directly to apple, thank you! First rep transferred me to the wrong department (rep 2) who knew nothing about what I wanted, he disconnected me. I called again and talked to rep #3 who told me that you can't cancel your order --- even though if you pay by credit card you're not charged until shipment (apparently debit/bank cards are billed immediately?) I'm waiting on a call back from this rep tomorrow re: can they figure out how to cancel my order. If not I'll be blocking charges directly with my credit card provider.
Lesson Learned: buy direct from apple next time. It's not about the wait time for me at this point, it's about the horrendous customer service. Let's try being straightforward, honest and getting the story straight!
