On a side note, somewhat amusing that the similar Verizon and Sprint pre-order threads are only at page 99 and page 46 respectively. We're so much awesomer than them!![]()
That's the thing, it wouldn't be so bad if this stuff was actually being done first-come-first-served, as it was explained to us, and as it definitely should be. Instead of whatever the heck kind of "order" it actually is, because it obviously ain't first-come-first-served.
And now I understand why some customers want compensation for the wait time. Congrats on you getting yours, but it's crazy that some customers who ordered on the 7th are still waiting.
Update on my list since yesterday (changes in black)...

So 2 of the 16 GB black were removed from backorder but not shipped. 1 of the 32 GB black shipped. All of the 10/7 orders have now seen some sort of "action", apart from the 32 GB whites.
Getting there, I guess. V...e...r...y... slowly...
I am also getting mine today but I am pissed because I ordered from Premier (64 black) on the 8th and getting shipment today. However, I am getting my order at the same time someone on the 10th ordered, The fact that people who ordered on the 7th are still waiting is just crazy. How screwed up is that?
I think people really should be screaming about this and writing the BBB and FCC - it is just absurd that our tax dollars subsidize big companies that can screw consumers at will.
Ordered 10/7 in store was waiting in back-order purgatory. At 9 PM on Sat went to Apple.com and reserved my iPhone, Sunday canceled at AT&T, went to apple store picked up my white 16g phone, took about 2 hours to do everything. My gf, who ordered the same time as me, is still on back-order and opted to wait thinking it would probably come off B.O. Monday, she text me an hour ago and told me she is going to do the same thing I did and go to the Apple store.
If you're stuck in B.O. it is really easy to reserve, go on apple.com at exactly 9 pm and click buy now then choose to reserve and pick up phone next day in store. The system refreshes every night at 9 pm, if you're trying to get a 16g you have to be fast, they were out by 9:05. Good luck, I'm over this thread and I'm out.
How do y'all know who is next on the list? and so on?
This did happen to me once with AT&T and they caught it a couple years ago, although it wasn't an iPhone it was still a smart phone I ended up getting sent two phones for some reason and they just double charged me the upgrade fee which was only about 99$ I think so my family kept both as a back up.
can some one look for mine 265..
See wendyc78's posts for tips on how to search for local orders. It's pretty easy if you live in a not-very-big area with only a few zip codes.
You should see the snazzy spreadsheet I put together. Even hyperlinked each order number to auto-fill the order number and zip code on the order status website.![]()

Yep, color codes, different font formats, it's rough but snazzy. Lifelong Doctor Who fan here, so obviously I'm into putting lists together and doing nerdy tech-y things like spreadsheets etc.LOL - me too - it's all pretty and color coded too... I NEED MY PHONE SO I CAN MOVE ON WITH MY LIFE!
Ha! I'm not *that* good! But that would be pretty sweet, that's for sure. Now THAT is awesome.
If only AT&T put in the effort that YOU are putting in...
Now you just need to figure out the passcode algorithm so you can bypass that step altogether and get REALTIME UPDATES!!!! AHHHHHH!
I haven't done it myself, but have you tried to elevate your in-store complaint/cancel-request to management? From what I've read, often that's the only person who is able to cancel pre-orders. If you're getting blockage from management, then I'm sorry, I don't know what to suggest. Ask to get on the phone to the District Manager or Regional Manager? Don't know the exact hierarchy of AT&T stores, just old memories of my crappy B&N days.Just thought I'd update everyone..
I placed my order in store at 2:30PM PST on October 7th, and am still to this very moment back ordered. Not a single thing has changed about my order since I first pre ordered. I have given up, and do not know what to do at this point. I will call when I get off of work at 5 today to see if they can cancel my order and I'll just reserve through Apple for next day.
I have called the AT&T store that completed the order multiple times though, because CSR's kept giving me the "We can't touch in-store orders. Only that store can.", and the store is absolutely against me canceling. Saying that there's "no possible way" and to "wait the 14-21 days, then come in and we'll give you one in store." ?????? why not cancel my order instead, because you guys are sold out and will be for a while? Hope is gone over here..
