Just got off the phone with CSR and just wanted to check when I will receive my phone and I got the 21-28 days from today because my item is backordered and it's a first come first served basis bs. I got upset but kept my cool and asked them how it could be that I placed my order online on the 7th and got confirmation that same day but today I still yet to be taken off from backorder hell. She quickly replied that she could go ahead and cancel my order because the item is backordered and that really made me upset. I have been trying to cancel my fnnnn order since the 14th when my local att store had tons of stock but of course they wouldn't let me no matter what I tried and now that every possible place around me is out of stock, the first thing they offer me without me asking is if I want to cancel my order.

Verizon talk and surf
BTW: On Verizon you can't talk and surf if you are using your wireless service (i.e., Verizon) for internet. However, you can talk and surf if you have WiFi access (e.g., at home, at work, at most coffee shops, etc.). Just a thought.

They were previously unable to cancel (the computerized order system did not have that function). After many of us complained to BBB, FCC, State Attorney General, etc. they fixed the problem over the weekend. So, you can cancel now, but it has no relation to there being phones in stock or not.
After reading reviews about how Verizon had better speeds than AT&T, I decided to switch brands and go Verizon.
It was a surprise to me to learn that with Verizon's CDMA you can't talk and surf at the same time. All my research had missed that fact.
Anyway that's a deal breaker for me, so I cancelled my order and place one in-store with AT&T.
That was the 10th. My order still says back ordered.
My friend ordered the 8th ad just got his phone today. I would have had mine too if it weren't for the Verizon thing.

I ordered my 16GB Black on the 19th of October through Apple's site, for an AT&T plan. Hasn't shipped yet, it's still listed as processing

Really not sure what all the crying is about - this same issue happened in the iPhone 4 launch. There were tiny lines at AT&T stores for this launch but I was not within 30 days of eligibility until yesterday.

I doubt you'll get it by Thanksgiving. I pre-ordered my phone on the 7th and AT&T told me I might get it now by the 2nd or 3rd week of November. (i.e.: probably not until after Thanksgiving...)
The International launches are sucking a huge portion of the daily manufacturing quota, so the wait keeps growing.
Who knows, maybe they'll have production stepped up and some of us who preordered on the 7th will start getting our phones. Maybe you'll even get your phone before me. I think all of the pre-orders are on a paddle boat off the coast of China still...

I figured AT&T would've learned their lesson this time around since I hear there were problems with the 4 as well. Preorders should take precedent over anything else, but I guess that makes too much sense.
I ordered on the 15th, 16GB White, still backordered (of course), probably not going to come until early November (if I'm lucky). But I'm going to wait patiently...even though my current phone is half broken down. But definitely next time I'm ordering from Apple... (assuming my next phone is an iPhone)
