AT&T iPhone 4S Pre-Order Status Thread

I understand that.. and i appreciate the reply, but in my opinion i think that they have posted this on their site in case that they're not able to deliver your phone by friday you won't freak out..

That's why i would like to know if someone who ordered by let's say, saturday night, are sill getting the preparing for shipment status.

I know that it may be a long shot but like i said, i would much rather take a shot on pre-ordering that standing in line for 2 hours. Last year i was in line about 22 hours and the memories are killing me to be honest
 
I ordered Friday afternoon and mine says Backordered.

I think it's a longshot. My money is on you not getting a phone launch day.

22 hours!!! How is that possible? How did you use the bathroom and eat? I would rather preorder now and wait a month than do that!

wow, thank you.. i guess it may be a bit risky to gamble on it. ugh so i'll be getting in line again.. oh well.. Kahlua and coffee on friday morning it is then :D
 
I placed my order on Apples web site friday at 5:30est and my order on Apples site says "Preparing for shipment". I went to UPS.com and put in my phone number as a reference number and it shows that my phone has had the Origin Scan! Its in China.

Me the gf and another friend brought a cooler and they allowed people to come into the mall to use the bathroom.

I made a few friends during the wait, but since it was summer it was way too hot.

Got there around noon the day before launch, left the mall by 10 am the next day.
 
I ordered mine at 5:42AM EST and just got my first notification from apple that my order has shipped. I ordered 2 16gig 4S's, and I have only received one shipping notification. However, when I track my item from UPS, it says the box contains 2 items, even though one is considered shipped, and the other is preparing for shipment.

"Shenzhen, China 10/10/2011 1:50 P.M. Departure Scan
Shenzhen, China 10/09/2011 7:30 A.M. Origin Scan
China 10/09/2011 4:37 P.M. Order Processed: Ready for UPS"

Still says delivery on the 14th - BY END OF DAY!
 
Ordered mine Friday around 1-1:30PM, since my Apple reservation (which I landed as soon as they went up) wasn't reflecting my change of billing address via AT&T (changed it to my current shipping address).

Was at processing Saturday, but now it's on "Attention!" Stupid Premiere -_-

Calling tomorrow if nothing changes (or if I get an email instructing to call). Bleh.
 
I can't believe they actually ship directly from the factory instead of shipping them in big containers over to deliver from a central distribution point in each continent. Perhaps it keeps them from guessing stock needs in each country?
 
I ordered around 8am CST Friday morning. My status has looked like this since then. I'm hoping the "backordered" status will be removed soon. My credit card has been charged.

What does this mean fellow Macrumorians?

It says "pending shipment" however, it also says "backordered" I'm guessing this means that i'm not going to get it on launch day or maybe it's just taking a while to process my order? Idk I ordered it at 3 A.M. Central through ATT so I feel like I should be seeing the same sort of progress as some of you.

Fill me in!

Well, for most products that would be the best and cheapest way to get them here from China.

But that would be slow, and a few of those shipping containers could hold an awful lot of iphones. Could you imagine being an apple executive and you get the news that the ship had sunk along with all of your initial launch inventory? LOL, I think they do it this way to keep from putting all their eggs in one basket.
 
I think the backordered status could have something to do with the capacity you ordered.

I ordered a White 32GB and i'm no longer backordered. I noticed three people saying they're still backordered ordered 64GB phones.

Somebody prove the theory wrong.

I've noticed this as well. Everyone who is no longer showing "backordered" purchased a 16 or 32GB model. It could just be a coincidence, who knows.
 
Don't have a tracking number.

Just says pending shipment. Backordered went to 0. Ordered around 1:20AM PST launch day. 16gb white.
 
Ordered 64 black on Friday.
Just went from back ordered to processing.
There was a hold on my card which is gone and I have not been charged.
Have a good feeling.
Just debating if I want to try and get apple care +.
 
32GB black ordered here via Premier AT&T site. Still back ordered. Placed order at 2am PST October 7. Hopefully some change soon...

Did anyone order by phone on friday around 6:30 pm central. Did u get a confromation email if so how long did it take?
 
Ordered through the AT&T upgraded app a 1am. No longer backordered. Also still says preparing for shipment. I expect this to change on Monday. Also, anyone posting times please indicate am or pm. Also time zone. Saying 4 PST does little for use, considering the 12 hour difference could mean a differnce in weeks of shipping time.

Counting down the minutes to Friday.
 
I don't think AT&T Premier updates their site over the weekend and that all of us have pending shipment / backordered
