Last year, I did not pre-order and ended up spending 7 hours outside an AT&T store..
I'm not sure which method is better.

I ordered a white 16gb and I have tracking number and all.
Honestly, I don't think color has anything to do with it.
I got a fedex tracking number first thing this morning on my white 16gb as did some others that posted in this thread.
Pretty normal...we all are having that issue...just keep your tracking info open and track every second like i'm doing...jk
When you order through Premier there should have been a little check box in the lower right corner. I don't remember which point but I have a screen print at home because they, at first, accused me of that as well. (which is what precipitated my extra unneccessary phones.)
no tracking number nothing. just says back order = 0 and pending shipment from last night.
It says it shipped the 11th with an 01 in the tracking code for UPS. If true, I should receive it today or tomorrow, but when I enter the tracking into UPS.com, it says it can't find it. I guess maybe the label was printed yesterday but isn't being shipped till tomorrow so it will come Friday.
Well, since your backorder says (0), you're in decent shape.
I'd say give it time.
I ordered the 32g white and I got a ups tracking number this morning. I ordered from the regular AT&T site. Non-premier.
I just got the same email that my phone is shipping with Fedex tracking numbers that do not work yet. My email states that the status may be delayed due to the volume of the orders etc.
From previous experience ordering every Iphone that has ever been released I think Apple has some how worked deals where the phones ship on time to get to us on the release date but the status of the tracking is held in limbo just until the right time. Maybe it's just another marketing strategy to keep everyone is suspense and keep Apple in the news as long as possible. We all sweat and speculate right down to the last minute that we are not getting our new toys when we want them and it always seems that we get them just as we were promised and we all forget until the next release.
