Oh yeah?? Mental problems?

I gave up unlimited data for... well I don't even remember how I lost it. That's how little I care. The 3 GB they give me is more than enough, I have the rollover program so it's up to 5GB+.

I guess you are one of those people who thinks that everyone should think and do as you do, huh? Mental problems you say...

Did you give it up to get a new phone? Did you give it up to add features, save money?

What I am saying is, many people covet the unlimited data. So I would think that to be mental, you would first have to value the plan and then make that sacrifice to get the new phone, on launch day. See where the mental part comes in. If your decision was based on other factors, then no you weren't mental, you were smart. It was the best course of action for you.

My statement was aimed directly at the "I must have the new phone NOW" people. I apologies for offending you. I wasn't even considering your situation. Thanks for making it clear, not all switchers are mental.

I gave up my unlimited data a while back because of two reasons. 1) My wife and I were only using around 2GB a month yet we were both paying for 30$ unlimited data on our lines. 2) When AT&T will throttle you at 5GB it's not really unlimited. I know that in just the past week they decided to call unlimited data 22GB but still.. I cut around 75$ a month from my bill and I still have more data than I use. Eventually data will be just like voice and texts which also used to be over priced.

You are a genius, not mental... The switch was logical and not just to get a new phone.

I think the economics of plans is going to vary for everyone based on usage. Right now $70 a month for 22gb of 'unlimited data' (5gb prior was workable because I was never throttled) is a pretty good deal. I am not sure any other carrier can beat that for me.

Two lines, 44GB... top that, for $120.

I wish I could say I'm happy for anyone getting their phone on launch, but I'm not; I want mine. It's going to be really exciting to see everyone else enjoying their phones on time simply because they were able to order through ANYONE ELSE but AT&T.

I am tempted to call AT&T and ask if they know when we should receive our tracking information but I feel like they know about as much information as we do. Anyone else called today?

It's hard to compare plans because the two people that have mentioned their rates have been 'single plans'. I'm on Mobile to Mobile Shared with 4 lines.. And for the 30GB plan with rollover I'm at $190/mo before surcharges and taxes. That's..
$130 base plan
+ 4 lines at $15/ea = 190.
...keep in mind I've taken every promo.. SO - even though I'm on 2yr contract - I still have all phones with the $25 discount down from $40/line that's more normative with 2 yr contract. This will be the first year.. with my recently pre-ordered phone and renewal for 2 more years.. that the $15 on MY line will go back up to $40. So as of next month my plan will be $215/mo. for 4 lines + 30GB + rollover. I think $30/line for unlimited would be more expensive for me.

They don't have access to information that you don't. The tracking number will not be generated until the day or two before the phone ships, and it may be created a day before the UPS/FedEx picks it up.

I ordered a silver 64gb 6s about 10 minutes before pre-orders officially went live and got a 'preparing to ship' 9/24 confirmation within an hour or so.

I thought that. I guess I am impatient. Especially seeing everyone else getting tracking numbers and shipping notices (even from other carriers) and we are just still stuck waiting.

Just got my new case in the mail... this is going to be a long week waiting!

We went through all of this last year with AT&T lol -- the agents know nothing, the twitter help account was not at all helpful. I posted a video here a day or so back showing video of how they handle phones at their distribution center. Literally, someone takes a phone out of the box it came in from China, scans customer paperwork to assign it, and then it get's re-boxed and sent to you. When my iPhone 5 came, it had in the box paperwork and an advertisement (printed off of a color printer in desperate need of new cartridges) and I always felt like that just added days to my delivery because there is only so fast you can perform those steps and it just bogs the whole system down. But there is no incentive for them to improve the process because they only have to go through that kind of high volume event once a year.

I will go back and look for that video, I must have missed it. That seems super inefficient though. I mean you are one of the top cell phone companies in the world. I'm sure you can afford to streamline your delivery/shipping process even for a once a year high volume orders.

Yeah for some reason I don't trust them to pick orders up based on the order time. Meaning everyone with the same estimated shipping date range is probably in the same boat whether you placed the order at 3 am or 6 pm on 9/12. I hope I am wrong. If I don't get the phone around launch day, this will be my first and last experience ordering from them.

The next weird step will be us seeing that our phones have already arrived in the UPS center closest to us - and will be just sitting there until launch day. Apple puts UPS under strict orders not to deliver early.

We preordered and received a notice saying we placed our order on September 12, 12:03AM (iPhone 6s Gold, 64GB). It was then confirmed. Then few days ago we received that the phone has been back ordered with no estimated ship date. Wtf AT&T?

As an addict of package tracking, it is very frustrating seeing all these other people getting tracking numbers already.

The struggle is real. And it will burn me if my husband gets his phone before me, which is very likely to happen since I ordered Rose Gold and he ordered Space Gray. Oi vey...
