They do have a program you can join called FedEx Delivery Manager.

I just joined it myself. According to the terms, it is free to hold at a FedEx location.

This is correct. I tried to hold at a location last year and FedEx said NO! I had no choice but to let the delivery driver drop it off in front of my exposed Town Home door step. Luckily I have nice neighbors who was looking out for it and walked over to retrieve it. This year I joined the FedEx Manager option, so I hope I can change it this time around. Signing up for FedEx Manager was a breeze. I think everyone should do it. It will also tell you when there is ANY kind of a package being sent to your address via email or text. Seems like a legit option for all.

I do not believe FedEx and UPS deliver on weekends. Last year, this same thing happened to me and i received the phone the monday after launch day. BUT last year they also didn't have the 6's and the 6+ availability differences. I'm not sure what to expect. There must be a problem with how many 6+'s they received. last year i had a late october projected ship date too and it came a lot earlier than that.

Last year my phone was delivered by UPS not fedex. It was a breeze having them hold it at a customer service facility. I have never had to deal with fedex. I am hoping they are using UPS in my area again.
 
ordered mine with premiere the 13th and have the OCt 12-23 estimate hope mine actually ships today

My iPhone 6s (not 6s+) 128 SG has also been shipped according to the text I just received ten min ago. Since it's technically been "Shipped," will the overnight shipping apply today? Or should I still expect to receive it Friday?

New to the Pre-Order route btw.
