Not to be the negative Joe but those with Oct deliver dates might be disappointed. Some will definitely get it on launch day but from experience in the last 2 years, you might not. I ordered from att last 2 times and got delivery dates of October. I kept on trying to think positive and launch day came and my phone was still stuck on processing. I ordered right at 3am mind you. Apple has to supply att with phones but they prioritize orders done at Apple and then provide phones to carriers

Will you be porting a number over to the new iPhone or will you be starting new (i.e. having AT&T issue you a new number). You should be able to do either on the AT&T website and on the Apple website. If I did not have to use the AT&T site due to my grandfathered plan I would have purchased through Apple (like I have for my last three (3) iPhones). if you want an iPhone 6s on launch day, you may still be able to get one through the Apple website. If you want an iPhone 6s Plus (based on the MacRumors front page) you might be better off standing in line on launch day at an Apple store.

starting new. Here are screenshots where I am stuck.

For either Verizon or Sprint, you get the option to create a new account when you don't have one.

So I can't proceed. FYI, I will be paying in full, hence contract-free.

You are right. I don't see your comment as negative just realistic. You didn't pop anyone's balloon. You just reminded them that the pin is there ;)
I really won't expect mine till the last 2 weeks in October but if it arrives before that date it will just be a pleasant surprise.

I believe with contract free, your only option is T-Mobile (if you will not be porting a number over from an existing cellular phone). T-Mobile phones are sold unlocked and once you get the phone all you will need to do is pop in an AT&T nano-sim and it will work.

I had my cousin (AT&T rep) order me a 64GB Rose Gold 6S this morning at 6 am and my order status says it is "Preparing to Ship" with an estimated ship date of 9/24. This was my first iPhone preorder (oh the adrenaline, I still can't stop checking the status) and thanks to him it was painless. I am glad I was able to get a rose gold 6S. I would have gotten the gold if it wasn't available on launch day though.

OK, I don't know if anybody else knew about this, but apparently AT&T changed terms with Apple a few months ago and now only existing customers who either pay in full or get the Next plan can order new iphones at Apple. Any new customers now have to buy from AT&T directly. I seem to recall something like written a while back now that I was given this explanation by Apple chat. This makes sense why Apple site doesn't give the option of creating a new account only for AT&T.

I would order T mobile since it's extremely easy to do so, but I want to get A1633 model which support all the bands including CDMA and one can only get it by selecting AT&T apparently.

I wish Chase would follow USAA's lead, as Chase cancelled my order because they thought it was fraudulent. So, I had to go back into the AT&T site and that ordered processed at 3:30AM EST. I will have to reference USAA's approach when I chew out Chase on Monday.
Same thing happened to me. I got a text asking if I made the charge and even though I responded yes, the charge was denied. I went to apple's web site, used a different cc and still have my launch day shipping date.

I just want to say, being in the Sep 24
shipping date category, I'm sorry to all you unlucky October club people.:(

Stay strong and know that good things come to those who wait:)

Technically, my order was placed at 3:12, but they had to place a new order for me due to a credit card issue, so I don't know if they held my original place in line, since my order number changed.

When did you order it? I don't think you'll wait that long....and what color

AT&T Premier here. Put the order in for iPhone 6s 64GB Space Gray at 3:02AM EDT. Got an email a few hours later saying that the order needed attention. I called them and after waiting for hours on end with the rep, the order was finally reprocessed. The order time now shows the new time. The status is "Preparing to Ship" and the estimated ship date is still 9/24. I won't hold my breath for the launch day delivery though. Never know with AT&T.

The rumor in past years was that Premier customers got preferential treatment. On the iPhone 5, my order didn't get completed until the next morning and I still got it on launch day. And in last year it seemed like Premier customers got their phones even though they ordered later than non-Premier customers. You may very well get lucky.

Are premier order numbers different than regular order numbers? I may be premier because I get a corporate discount fro my job but I'm not sure.

Your order should have held the same position as when it was initially ordered. I ordered at 4:57 AM, had a CC decline, which I resolved at 8:10 AM, but my order still has the original timestamp.

Same happened to me and a couple supervisors at att confirmed this with me.

Ordered 10:30 PM, Rose Gold iPhone 6S Plus 128 GB. Expected shipping date, 10/23-10/30. Got $99 AppleCare+.

Mine didn't have the same time stamp. Placed order at 3:11 for my wife and 3:12 for mine. Both declined. Got emails around an hour later. Immediately re-submitted credit cards online using instructions in link in email. Order status still showed needs attention at 8am. Called, and after 2 hours on the phone, reprocessed orders show 9:46 and 9:59.
