AT&T is the only company that gets reception where I work. I usually get 2-3 bars in the buildings I work. People on other services like Verizon or Sprint barely get 1 bar, if that.

My parents have AT&T for their landline service, but have had serious problems with it. I don't know what plan they had before, but my mom would call her sister who lived abroad for a while. When she moved back to the states, my parents wanted a cheaper plan. Just something where they can call US numbers and Canada since my dad's sister lives there. I forget the exact sequence of events, but their bill went down a bit, then higher than it originally was, and at some point, my service was added to theirs, even though I'm on a separate account. AT&T seems so incompetent.

Better off going to Cricket Wireless instead of AT&T GoPhone, same network, cheaper as it's $55 a month for unlimited and your speed is 8Mbps, still could be temporarily throttled after 22 GB but seems like a much better deal than $60 for 3Mbps for the same network.

This is what I pulled from AT&T's site. If I am wrong , please tell me where? I do not see anything on AT&Ts gophone site that says it is THROTTLED TO MAX 3Mbps except for the Unlimited gophone plan. What I don't understand is why they would. Looking at this, the cheaper $40/mo plan is better as long as it is not throttled at 3Mbps.

For $45/mo or $40/mo with Auto-pay it is 6GB at high speed and throttled to 128kbs past that limit. It is NOT THROTTLED to 3Mbps. It is full high speed on this tier. (3)

For $60/mo or $55/mo with Auto-pay it is Unlimited and after 22GB they may slow data speeds. It IS THROTTLED to max 3Mbps. (2)

Per AT&T's gophone website:
(2) $65 Monthly Unlimited Plan: After 22GB of data usage, AT&T may slow data speeds during periods of network congestion for the remainder of your 30 day term. Data speed limited to a max of 3Mbps. For content we can identify as video, speed will be limited to a max of 1.5Mbps at Standard Definition quality (about 480p). See att.com/broadbandinfo for details on AT&T network management policies. Mobile hotspot use is prohibited.

(3) After high-speed data allowance is used, data speeds are slowed to a max of 128Kbps for the rest of the term.
