You can give it a shot, but I wouldn't expect anything to come of it.

If you do, remember my earlier post about capitalization, punctuation, & spell check. If your email looks like your posts here, he will read it and then delete it. Just saying.

I will use better puncutation and all around grammar I'm just tired right now.

Heres my question I went to the att store 3 months ago and bought a 3gs because my previous one was stolen but before I bought it I said you know what ill just wait till they announce the new iphone and the guy (Who was the manager) replied "dont wait get one now because i know there will definatly be no new iphone this year". I aked are you sure and he said yes i even had a small argument with him about apple usually releasing new iphones every year he then replied trust me i know. I bought the phone and whatta know a new iphone.

So what do you think is the right think for att to do
1) honor their word releize they lied and atleast give me the full upgrade price
2)i was wrong and pay full price (either way im getting the phone)
notice im not asking for a return im asking for att to do the right thing and atleast do somwhat right by there coustomers
any thoughts.

Don't blame ATT for this. If you go to boards like this where our poo knows more than an ATT rep, then you should of gotten your facts straight.

This is the ultimate rule:

Don't trust people that work in stores. Unless its a legality issue ...like contract descriptions.

Other than that...PEOPLE ARE STUPID in stores. I make it certain for Best buy employees to know...they are stupid

Once again i got the new iphone before the leak and i dont want a free iphone I want at least the 400 dollar price prefrably the 200 dollar price learn how to read before you make such a cynical statement.

so for the past 3 years you didn't see apple release a new phone each year. hmmm maybe you should pay more attention

I'm not even going to counter that until you read my ENTIRE orginal post once you've donne that tell me.

Should i bother emailing the CEO ?

Yes. Write the CEO. If he doesn't throw you in jail (see last weeks news) for interrupting his bocce game, maybe he'll have his staff give you a ring to tell you he contact the manager and he does not recall making any guarantees about new iPhones.

If you have further time to waste then try Judge Judy.

i know you were told there wasn't but do you listen to everything everyone tells you, again if your a member here i'm sure you knew about updates coming leaks have been out since last year

In the end you knew better than the manager and yet you still believed him?

Not to make this about age but how old are you?

The problem is, the OP has no way to prove that the store manager made such a statement. Who is at&t going to believe? Their store manager, or the OP?

Well, hopefully the manager doesn't lie. But even if he does, often times if your explanation is calm, respectful, and plausible you will often be taken seriously when presenting a complaint of this nature.

I called cs and talked to a manager and told him about this he said im sorry but he didn't know there would be a new Iphone I replied I know that my problem is he guarranteed there wouldn't be a new phone and the manger just repeated himself. (Im begining to think everyone at att is mentally challanged).

Sounds like he at least aknowledges his fault.

Start with the regional manager first. Did you ask for the regional manager contact info? For a manger to refuse giving that is usually considered a big no-no. My suggestion is to be calm, respectful, and to go up the chain of management. Don't just straight to the top.

Look, the kid was naive. Give him a break. We are a community here to help each other, not ridicule each other (unless you post the same post for the 3rd time that day...man I hate that. :p)

Yes, you can try that. Or you can just call the store and ask as well.

Remember, your age will work against you. You will need to be exceptionally respectful and give a very plausible well thought out explanation.

Edit: when I was your age I got the CEO of Compaq to give me a free copy of Windows 95 because the rebate didn't have an expiration date on it. (rebate for a free copy of Win95)

Thank you and ill give it a shot if it works out to no avail I guess ill just buy it outright.

With all due respect, at&t employees work on commission, you honestly shouldn't expect the most impartial advice from a sales person. It's the same reason you get a house inspected before purchase or get a carfax with a used car. This is your failure and nearly any research would have told you iPhone 4 was coming this year. I honestly doubt the carrier will do anything for you besides offering you 399/499 upgrade pricing.

(Disclaimer: I work for at&t)

Your poll is bogus, you need another option:

"I'm an idiot for believing a salesman that makes money off of sales today, not ones in the future."

You knew one was coming out and you bought it anyways, you need to suck it up.

+1

This option gets my vote.

They wont even tell me the regional managers store or email adress or even his nam on att cs line.

Are you sure you went to an actual at&t branch or did you go to a store that sells at&t along with other carriers?

Yes, you can try that. Or you can just call the store and ask as well.

Sounds good in theory, but how is he going to PROVE that the manager told him there would be no new iPhone this year and strictly because of that conversation, he bought the iPhone 3gs?

Without this [hard] proof he will just look like he is trying to cover his own buying mistake / bad decision.

He doesn't have to have hard evidence of anything. He only needs to convince someone in upper management that his story is plausible and probable. He'll have to be convincing and persuasive. It will also have a lot to do with the type of person that answers the complaint.

I went to a branch.

Does this mean a corporate owned AT&T store?

Keep in mind, basically we are talking about extending the exchange date by 60 days or so. Not incredibly unreasonable in the retail world.

Is the phone in good condition? Do you have all the packaging?

they had the corparate store sticker on the window and only att and iphones were sold there.

You have approached the manager on this, correct? If you gave him a chance to respond, call the store and ask for the regional manager info.

You do have one other option available, and it would be the way I would go, but it will require some balls and you really will have to be willing to do what you say.

Call CS once again and explain the story. See what they tell you. I am sure they will just basically blow it off and whatever. You can then ask to speak with a manager and tell them the same thing. If they will not help you out, which they probably won't, tell him nicely that you would therefore like to speak with retentions as you will now be canceling your service. When they connect you to them, explain it to them as well. Tell them that you love AT&T and the service and really like the iPhone. Tell them about how you lost your other phone or whatever the story was, and that you went to the store to speak with the manager and how he duped you into getting a 3GS etc... Be very nice and respectful. Tell them how you would love to stay with AT&T, but as you feel you were really lied to and deceived, that you cannot condone this type of sales behavior by continuing the service.

Then just see what happens. You may end up having to cancel the service in the end, but if you do, so what. Your ETF will still be lower. And you can always sell your current phone for quite a bit. Go away from the evil AT&T and join verizon or something else. Get a cool android phone or whatever.

But it just might work. I have seen retentions do some amazing things in the past (I have gotten some crazy stuff offered to me in the past) and they really do have a lot of power there to try to retain customers.

Good luck.
