Not elegible for a new iPhone yet, but it seems I can get the 3G quite cheap:

AT&T's services frack up every time a new iPhone is released, right?

I'm thinking that pretty much all current iPhone users are going to get the upgrade discount, and that they are having "technical difficulties" switching everything over. That would explain the completely random application of upgrade discounts, no?

Do I still have a chance?

I'm on a family plan and this is what it says under my iphone's eligibility.

iPhone Upgrade
You can take advantage of our no commitment pricing at a participating retail sales location. You may qualify for a full discount on a standard iPhone upgrade on 02/20/2011.

Is there still a chance I might get a random upgrade text message? Can I call AT&T and raise hell for being a valued customer for so long and not getting the same deal as so many others? Someone help me here please!

checked and the price sounds confusing

I went to the ATT store yesterday to add the unlimited 3G service before it expires today to grandfather in so I can use Skype unlimited.
They said that I'm not eligible for upgrade until 7/11. so I gotta pay for the freaking service for a month, but I cannot use it since I don't have an iPhone.

I just checked my eligibility for upgrade to and iPhone 3GS is $499 for 32 GB and $399 for 16 GB which is kindda like HUH??!! why don't I just buy an iPhone w/o contract.

Same thing. I used to be Eligible. I hope the fix it or I guess I'm not getting the new iPhone. We pay more than $180 bucks a month and we can switch to Sprint and get more and pay $40 less.

Thats great if u want a ******** phone

my account

actually is a modification of what was posted, if I wanted to upgrade my iphone before my full discount kicks in next February, I'd have to pay the $18.00 plus a higher fee for the phone.

I'll wait until at least my full discount next year or even late Summer 2011 as I'm trying to cut down my data usage on the phone.

Congrats to everyone who can upgrade for only the $18.00 fee.

Bought my 3GS day one. Partial upgrade, I didn't pay full price, but didn't get the full discount either, as I still had a year left from my 3G. I pay about $90 a month and I'm able to upgrade, Thanks AT&T. :D

Verizon Soon?

Course it is all speculation, but if I was ATT and Verizon (at some point) getting the iPhone - I would make as many people eligible as possible and get them hooked for another two years.

Hopefully, upgrading with *better pricing* will not effect the unlimited data category.

I purchased on July 17th (I think?) and I am still eligible on December 17th. What gives, AT&T?!?!

WOOHOO :D

I am eligible (wife has been since the 3G came out).

If it comes out this friday.....

Can anyone upgrade by only paying the 18 dollar fee or do we still have to pay 199/299 plus 2y contract.

I'm confused if eligible for an upgrade means a free upgrade or juSt a subsidized one.

Whats your monthly bill look like. Some are saying it has to be at least $100+ to get the deal. If your on an original 2G plan with the old $20 data you might not make it to the $100 slot.

Any how, looks like AT&T is on damage control. Tells me that the new phone just might be avalible for order starting today. So lets bump up as many upgrade dates as possible so as few as possible jump ship. I know I came from Sprint for the iPhone and relatively happy at this point, data plan screwage aside. Might see how things play out before I pull the trigger on the new phone, though having used 3 out of the 4 carriers a CDMA iPhone wouldnt be my first choice.

To wait for the Verizon iPhone or to go with the AT&T iPhone, that is the question....

I have an iPhone 3G that I bought the day after they came out. July 12th my contract with AT&T officially expires. Not sure what I am going to do, guess I will wait to hear Steve speak today. Part of me wants to wait until the Verizon phone comes out, but that could be another year for all we know...or it could be a simultaneous launch, who knows?

mine moved up from nov 2010

yep... I was originally eligible in late nov 2010, but I just checked and I am eligible right now. Other lines (non-iphone and secondary) in my family plan didn't have any change in eligibility dates tho'... just my primary line which is on 3Gs.

pal :)

I've had my 3GS for over a year, it seems but mine says 2/2011? We added my wife to the plan as well to take advantage of a slight corporate discount (3%?) but she has the same offer as me (she's only had hers for about 6 months).

I'm with the other guys who say that if Verizon (or anyone else) gets the iPhone before my time is up - THAT's who I'm going with.
