I spoke to retentions today. Only reason she couldn't Double my 2gb plan was because it's not a mobile share plan. It's the older plans.

Worked great for me as well. I pressed 0 then 3 to get retentions, told her I saw a sprint advertisement that they were doubling their data on the 10 GB plan and that I would like AT&T to match that. She did, and was very polite the whole time. About 5 minutes on hold, 5 minutes with the rep, done deal.

It's not a promotion. Retentions is doing this for people who are asking for it to match Sprint. C/S won't help you and probably don't know what you are talking about. Call the retention dept only.
How do u get to the retention dept ? It's not an option & there is no voice commands

Follow the menu prompts to cancel your account (you are not actually canceling, retentions is just the group that handles people who want to cancel). For most people it seems to be one of four combinations after calling 611:

Voice command "cancel my account"
0-->3
5-->5
5-->6

I just did this and it literally took 2 min. I just asked if they were doubling 10gb for 20 and she said we sure are confirmed my info and bam done. Awesome!!!! Also a incredibly nice lady.

Called again and spoke to retention as stated and it worked. I explained the reason for calling politely and just asked if he would be willing to do it. He made the change and it's effective immediately.

Thanks so much for posting this. I really appreciate it. I called and got ours switched over very easily and quickly.

There are a couple of gotchas:

  1. Your account may not qualify
  2. You may request the promotion until the end of the month
  3. The promotion is that it applies to 10GB mobile share plans. Normally it's only available to 15GB plans
  4. If you have a pending upgrade, e.g. iPhone 6, then they will not apply the promotion to your account. But...
  5. They can enter notes into your account and after you activate your upgrade they may apply the promotion to your account after the 31st *if* you requested the promotion before the 31st.

As always ymmv.

I don't think the thing about a pending upgrade is true.
..my iPhone order is still pending, but they gave me the 20gb

Worked great, wasn't sure since I just upgraded to the 30gb for the price of 15gb if they would give me a hassle. But no questions asked, they just did it:D.

It doesn't work on a small business plan. Two different reps said no. One even said it doesn't apply to consumer accounts until I gave her the number of a friend that got it. Grr. Mad.

This forum saved my bacon for a second time now! Just a couple weeks ago I ended up changing my mobile share value plan to 10GB from 6GB. At the time they made the offer of "30 for 15" but I declined. Called in through 611->5->6, spoke the the rep and explained that I had just recently upgraded but declined the 30 for 15, and now understand that 20 for 10 is now being offered, and asked if it could be applied to my account. Rep seemed unfamiliar, put me on hold briefly to confer with his supervisor, then came back and asked if I wanted to change plans. I reiterated that I had just done so a couple weeks back, he checked again and confirmed that I was eligible to have this applied to my account, effective immediately. Total time on the phone was 15 minutes after all small talk was done and over with, post-transaction. No need to threaten leaving AT&T or anything like that.

Thanks again for posting this!

I had no luck either calling the Premiere Small Business line :(

I got the deal as well. The retention rep said it was available for all levels of shared data plans.

I just called and got the promotion from retention department. I let them know that I had spoken to 3 different sprint reps (2 over the phone and 1 in person) and that they were offering me double the data for the same price. I asked if they would match that as polite as possible and the rep said yes. I told her I did not want to pay more than $100 and I would like to receive the text message confirmation while on the phone with her. She said that's fine and the update happened. I got off the phone and I checked my Att app and the change went through. The text message also confirmed it. Winning!!! It Worked for Me but...

So I called in and at first spoke to customer service, but they said it wasn't an option.

Then I asked her for the retention department and after about a minute on the phone she doubled my 10gb to 20gb and sent me a text and an email.

Was tipped off by a co-worker about this last night!

I was able to get the promo but noticed since upgrading that I am unable to view my plan on att.com or through the app.

When trying to view my plan on att.com I get kicks me out to the log in screen. When viewing my plan using the att app it just says 'null' but shows 20gb of available data.

For those who got the promo, are you able to see the plan name on the overview page or in the app?
