I have the grandfathered unlimited data plan with the 450 minutes talk. All told, it's $80/mo. The AT&T plan compare tool shows it would be $140/mo for the 10GB mobile share plan for the 1 device. So, this is the plan I can get for $100/mo with 20GB/mo? Is this new plan technically their Next plan? I'm not clear on how the Next/Mobile Share plan works when you buy a new iPhone (which I did on 9/12). I'd really like to have a hotspot.

Sounds like you're on contract. The 100 is basically the 20gb mobile share plan with hotspot, the 40 is your line access fee. As mentioned before, it's 15 if you BYOD or go with Next, 40 if you're in contract. Next allows you to buy your phone in full amount with 0% financing, it usually is around 27 to 35 depending on the iPhone you pick.

So if you were on next it would be 100 plus 15 plus whatever the monthly installment payment of your phone (next)

Literally called and asked if upgrading to the 20GB was a possibility, since they were doubling the data for their plans. The rep said no problem, put me on hold for 2 minutes, and that was it.

THANK YOU OP.

OK, thanks. Yes, I'm on contract. So, it would be $140/mo. Since Sprint if offering the plan with 20GB for $100/mo and to pay the ETF , I wonder what AT&T will offer to keep me. I guess I'll have to call AT&T and see what they'll do.

Let us know how that goes. I'm in the same boat as you are, on contract with 1 line thinking of merging 3.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Took 2 attempts as the first rep from the retention department tried to bump me up to 30GB, but it's done. Thanks all.

Worked perfect! Called and got a very nice rep, no questions asked switch from 15/30 to 10/20. Friend at work called and got bumped from 2 to 4.

Funny thing is this is all over the internet now... All the deal and tech sites....

ATT has to be like WTF....

But in reality only like 10% of us will ever use the 20GB and for everyone it gives you a reason to stay with ATT... so they win in the long run

I'm a premier customer and I got the deal. Premier doesn't have a "retention" department. You have to ask for the "save" department. They helped me out.

Tried like 4 times prior to finally getting to correct department.

The lady said don't acknowledge your number when prompted after calling 611

See my post. I'm on premier and got the deal.

I called and spoke to billing and they said they were running a promotion to go from 10gb to 20gb. But now that I look at my account online, it shows I'm on the 30gb plan. Does yours show this too?

And it's really nice that you don't have to be obsessively worried about data as much anymore to. I think I would have even been happy with 10GB-15GB promo instead of the 10GB-20GB. But it's definitely nice to have and it will make me a satisfied and long term customer. Great promo offer!

Mine shows 20gb.

Thanks OP.

Had the 10GB for a while, then went up to the 30gb promo plan.

Just called during my work break, and it was easy as pit. Dropped me back down to the 10gb for $100 then doubled it to the 20gb. Plus the $15 for my wifes and I iPhones.

They are not even trying to hide it anymore, I got mine done a few hours and ago and just typed in Mobile Share Plan into google and this came up. Double the data, not the price, sign up by 10-31.

http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/plans/mobileshare.html

That's always been there but it's been 15GB and higher. What we're getting is 10GB or less doubled. No mention of that on the site that I can see - it's showing 10GB for $100 (the regular price) and 30GB for $130 (the old 15GB price).

Thanks! Just got mine upped from 10gb to 20gb over chat - the first person I spoke with wouldn't do it- he had to transfer me to customer relations.

I don't think the thing about a pending upgrade is true.
..my iPhone order is still pending, but they gave me the 20gb

Sorry to not be clearer. I should have said shipped, but what I really mean is that magical moment where your phone number is assigned to the phone and it's waiting for activation. I have an order that has not shipped yet that does not affect the data plan change. I have another order that is in transit. They will not put me on the 20GB plan until that phone in transit is activated.

So on the mobile share plans. I have one basic/messaging phone. I know that fee is 15.00. But if I give her my old iphone 5 the fee still will be the same of 15.00 correct? Thanks.

worked for me! went from 10-20 gigs. ATT.com shows the change already.

The first rep I talked to said it wasn't possible. I hung up, called 611, then hit 0 then 3. I told the rep I was wondering if they could match the 20 gig price from sprint, she said no problem!

Took a few minutes of her typing and what not but then it was done. She told me I have the plan for life unless I change it, and if I change it...it will be unavailable after the 31st.

Thank you.

Sorry. I answered incorrectly. I was telling you the cost of the basic /messaging phone which is $15 for 10GB or higher. $20 for 6GB or lower.

If you are going to add your old iPhone 5 as a smartphone to the plan it will be $15 for 10GB or higher. $25 for 6GB or lower.

Sorry about any confusion. You can play around with different scenarios here: http://www.myattrpc.com

I would try this but I'm pretty sure they know I have no cards to play here - I just signed a new 2-year contract earlier this month on my new iPhone 6+. If I call retentions they know I'm not going anywhere due to ETFs. But I would love to upgrade from 2Gb to 10GB and actually receive 20GB for that price.
