I would try this but I'm pretty sure they know I have no cards to play here - I just signed a new 2-year contract earlier this month on my new iPhone 6+. If I call retentions they know I'm not going anywhere due to ETFs. But I would love to upgrade from 2Gb to 10GB and actually receive 20GB for that price.

Never know until you try. The base price of $100 for the 20GB/unlimted text & talk has nothing to do if you are on contract or Next payments.

I too just renewed a 2-yr contract with my iP6...didn't matter to AT&T, I got the upgrade with no hesitation. Make the call.

Doesn't it feel nice to actually use your phone as intended?

These telcoms have no leg to stand on really. Everyone is offering unlimited text & talk, so they only have the data card to play.

And since they can double everyone's data with no problem, it's easy to see these plans are over priced.

Leverage doesn't matter, just do it

Come on Verizon, follow suit!

Don't be afraid to ask for the deal. Retention reps are there to keep you as a customer and make you happy. They will not give you a hard time. You don't have to threaten to cancel. Just ask for the deal. Say a family member just got it and you would like it to. You have nothing to lose ;) just make sure you get to the retention department.

Op, your awesome! I spoke with a nice gentleman who doubled my data from 10GB to 20 GB with no issues. If only they would waive the upgrade fees #

Has anyone called Verizon's retentions and give the "sprint's got 20" speech?

Someone earlier in this thread said they tried this with Verizon and were told "no". But that was a few days ago and hard stances tend to change quickly in this industry.

I called Verizon twice and the reps gave me a firm "no" that they were not going to match sprint or increase my data.

But please don't let my failures stop you from trying. I'd love to hear your results. You might be more successful than me.

verizon retention dept # is here http://www.verizonwireless.com/wcms/myverizon/customer-retention.html

I also tried doing the chat and they said they can't connect me to the retention department through the chat - its phone only

It's nice to have more wiggle room.

Since I was bumping against my family's 10GB allotment ever since I gave up my unlimited data for this plan, I started resorting to finding methods of saving data.

I turned off all Background Refresh.
I made sure all my apps where set to upload and/or sync on wi-fi only.
I didn't watched any Youtube videos.
I never streamed music.
I stopped downloading podcasts to PocketCasts when I forgot to download them before leaving my wi-fi.
Starting this cycle, I was only going to use Facebook & Instagram when I got home (which is probably a good thing).
I started using Chrome with Data Compression turned on.

Now with 20GB's, I'm going to keep many of the new habits I've developed, but still enjoy my phone alot more, like checking out some Youtube videos or using Pandora during my lunch break

I wish AT&T would introduce Data Rollover.

Yes. You can get yours doubled to 4.

I actually am wanting the 20GB for 10GB - the reason I asked is I wonder if I should be on the 10GB before calling or if they can change the plan and double it all in the same call.

The way I look at it, it's a win-win for the agent: they keep a customer, AND they get him to pay more per month than he currently is. :)

No. Just say your looking for a new plan but saw Sprint's and wanting to get on AT&T's.

Not with T-Mobile paying ETFs... Even without that, you could sell off phones to pay ETF. Don't let the carriers brainwash you into thinking you're "locked in" because you aren't. It's merely a question of how much will it cost to break the contract.

Don't defeat yourself before you even pick up the phone.

they actually reversed mine, I was on 30 and went back to 10/20.

another success to report

611-0-3 (worked even though im on a FAN)

didn't mention anything about canceling.

i said "so im just plowing through this 10gb of data and i wanted to see what options i had. its not me its my girlfriend she just demolishes data like no other"

she put me on hold for 3 minutes.

when she came back it was done i now have 20gb a month "until i call and take it off"

thanks!

For those who have gotten the 10/20 plan change, your account may show the following verbiage or similar when viewing plan details (see below). ATT cs confirmed via text that plan details will be updated in 48 hours.
