Has anyone had success with this on the share plan rather then the value plan? I have tried twice and they want me to switch to the value plan and start it at 15g. Any support would be great.

for them to cut it off like this, head(s) must be rolling over at AT&T HQ...

If true, it fits the same pattern I've seen time and time again... An exception deal or offer intended for a handful of customers who call in via rententions snowballs on the interwebz until it gets the attention of an exec who then 86's the whole thing.

BTW: I'd strongly encourage anyone considering this to get it done ASAP. I suspect as word gets around some higher-up at AT&T may pull the plug and they'll make it much harder or outright refuse to do so. Maybe not, but still best to not wait.

The sad thing is, this costs AT&T nearly nothing. Sending another 10GB of data over their network has nearly no incremental cost, yet the customer satisfaction that comes from not having to worry about the cap as much translates to happier users and more goodwill.

They should just double the rest of the data plans by default, going all the way down. That'll really throw a wrench into the competition. :)

You mean the one person? Lol. Ok, I may give it a go.

I thought you could only do this through retentions? You got lucky I guess from seeing what most people stated about trying through chat.

The chat rep called retentions for me and then retentions called me to finish it up. They offered the 15GB plan at first but I told them I didn't want to pay more and then they said they would go ahead and double my 10GB plan.

There's another forum where many people are reporting the same thing. And there is a retentions chat as well.

I can now confirm, this is dead...

Just called, explained, word came down to all the Reps, and it was killed..

I'm glad I got mine done on the first day it was posted. I called retentions again yesterday to confirm the 10GB to 20GB, and I was told it's reflected on my account and that it's permanent. They probably had thousands of people calling. The rep told me it was a promotion until the 31st of October so it sucks if they're ending it a week early.

Did you speak to a rep in the rententions department? A normal CSR can't help with this.

spoke to 4 people.....

its dead...

They are not offering the 10 for 20, but he is willing to discount my per phone device charge from $40 to $10 per line. So I will still save money and no longer be throttled. Win!

It is indeed dead... RETENTIONS can NOT and WILL NOT do this anymore. On the phone now. I am getting my account fixed but the only reason is because I was supposed to have it on the 21st.

Well, I guess this can't come as a big surprise to any of us. Like the OP said, this was probably an honest accommodation that spread like wild fire once it was circulated on the internet. I'll be curious to see if they do a reverse course for those accounts that were doubled. Time will tell....I have 6 days to my next billing cycle.

Na, no way they will reverse course on those they gave it to. But either way I am pretty good. I still got the 30GB for 15GB pricing. Will give it another 6 months or a year and if the competition continues to keep up, hopefully we will continue to see better and better deals with higher mobile data allotments. One day maybe our pricing will even be similar to the ridiculous cheap plans in Europe.

Yeah, that concerns me too. I just called AT&T again - getting nervous! Lol. They said that my plan is the 20GB for $100 and it's effective as of 10/21, so I think I should be fine.

It would be incredibly stupid of them to reverse course on the plans that already upgraded. They would be converting customers they just made happy into customers that would actually be thinking about switching. I doubt they would do that, but I don't rule it out entirely.

They will NOT reverse the plan, no matter how much they may not like it or want to - that would be very bad and I would leave AT&T if they did that to me. The system messed up a bunch of accounts like mine, moving them to $205/month 20GB doubled to 40GB so CHECK YOUR ACCOUNTS! If the system shows that you should have the $100 10GB doubled to 20GB they will honor it no matter what. My CSR rep even gave me her name and number (I told her I was flattered but married). :p
