For what it's worth, I was on the phone again today with an At&t rep recieving a $25 credit on my bill for going from the 30gb back down to the 10gb & I asked her when this current promotion ends next week, will they have another ? She said yes. There will be another promotion starting the day after this one expires. Couldn't tell me the specifics tho

I'm hopefully the only one that runs into this, but having switched earlier this week to this non-published plan made for a very rough iPhone 6 activation today.

I had ordered an iPhone 6 a few weeks ago (for a family member) though AT&T's website. It arrived today, and when I went to att.com/activations to activate it from home, I kept getting some weird error message.

Went to the local AT&T store and learned that if you order an iPhone and switch plans before it arrives, there are some extra steps that have to be done. They thought they could easily fix it for me, but because they can't see this plan on their systems, that wasn't the case. (And I'm glad that AT&T sends out a text when you switch to this plan, because the store people wouldn't believe me that this plan existed until I showed them that text).

The store ended up having to call some special hotline, and the rep there was able get the new iPhone activated, but it took this guy some time too (~30 minutes). All in all, it took about 2.5 hours in an AT&T store to get the phone activated.

FWIW.

The sad thing is, this costs AT&T nearly nothing. Sending another 10GB of data over their network has nearly no incremental cost, yet the customer satisfaction that comes from not having to worry about the cap as much translates to happier users and more goodwill.

They should just double the rest of the data plans by default, going all the way down. That'll really throw a wrench into the competition. :)

That is what EPB did for internet here in Chattanooga. We now have 1000 mbps service for what we were originally paying for 30mbps service! EPB rocks for internet ATT could do to take a page from their book!

Was able to call today. Never got to retentions and the rep I talked to didnt even want to send me that way. She also said she didn't hear of the plan nor did her supervisor. She said detentions is "where you go to terminate your line, nothing else". I'll try and call back later, but after a fifteen minute hold while she "checked her resources" I don't feel like sitting on the line again.

I realize people are saying this is over, which is fine, but I wasn't even able to get that much lol. i was basically just told the deal never existed.

If you didn't talk with customer retention, they'll tell you that the deal doesn't exist. The regular CSRs may not know anything about it.

It was killed via slickdeals fatwallet etc the higher ups killed it due to the big demand, before transferring to retentions was a piece of cake now they're hesitant to do that and even if they do I'm hearing retentions isn't allowed to do it anymore either. You gotta jump on these things quick.

Damn, I saw this too late! I am on the unlimited plan, and I have a 2nd line.

I'd consider signing up for the 10GB plan and get the 20GB...but unfortunately that is no longer available, I honestly do not need 30GB...not worth it since its just 2 people and my mom rarely uses anything over 2GB...I myself go over 6-7GB on my unlimited data plan.

20GB would be totally perfect.

ATM I just have Unlimited data with family share 700 minutes and unlimited text and my mom has 2GB data with no text and we pay about $120 a month with my 28% Fan account discount.

I hope they offer additional deals after this month...

I hit 5 and then 6, but the menu structure differs for the different account types.

Is option 6 "retentions"? Because I didn't get that soecific option. I got an option to terminate account, which is what I selected.

Maybe I'll try web chat and have them take me to retentions. They offered to last night and realized after the fadt the department had closed.

What part of "the deal is over" are you not getting? Have you read the thread?

Have you read my posts? I understand the deal is over. What I don't understand is why I can't easily get to retentions. That should have absolutely nothing to do with any deal at all.

Thabks for the condescending response nonetheless.

I was able to take advantage of this offer when I called on Oct 22...many thanks to the OP!

I also discovered that speaking to someone in retentions is the best manner to get the best deals as these reps are able to make many good things happen.

I'll just be a bit cryptic because you should work a bit, however if you are upgrading and want to save on activation fees, get a free microcell and credit, develop a relationship with a retentions rep and while you may still feel raped by ATT, it may feel a bit better than under normal circumstances.

There is no reason to lie. I, and many others, called AT&T and stated:

"I just noticed that Sprint is offering 20GB with unlimited text and talk for the same price of our 10GB. Can you help me?"

And without much hesitation, the rep matches the deal.

AT&T lied to us for years by saying, "Get a new iPhone for $199". ;)

Then why isn't "retentions" called "terminations"?? Definition of "retention"? Lol. Retain, keep, hold on to...

They are reeling now.

Well, I just tried to call and see if they can do anything. And they end up gave me the 30gb data for extra $7.50 a months on top of my original bill which is not bad, now I can use my data without fear of overcharge again.

So you spend your free time just trying to get through to AT&T's retention department, and post about it in a thread about a deal that is now dead, but you don't neccessarily want to contact them about the dead deal? Mkay.

Are you saying you just went from 10GB to 30GB for only $7.50 more (as opposed to $30 more - which is what it was costing last week)?

If so, this is the hot new deal for anyone that just missed jumping from 10GB to 20GB for $0 extra.

Go! :) (maybe? ;) )

That's what the AT&T Rep told me on the phone which it will start at next billing cycle. I even asked her like 3 times, "Are you sure it's only going to cost me $7.50 more to have the 30gb family share plan?". And she told me three times yes. So I guess it's worth a try.

FYI, just tried in retention and online chat, deal is over. Might try one more time but basically they patched this already.

Nope. You missed my point entirely. There are folks here that said that there may be deals in the future. I wanted to know how to get the retentions department directly. The very reason why I posted here is so that I don't waste my time as I obviously did with the first call. Anyway, not sure why that really matters to you other than antagonize me, for whatever reason.

I was able to do exactly what another poster said (option 5 then 6) and this time got to someone in retentions. She told me exactly what was said here (that the deal expired) however she gave me a "one time courtesy" $50 credit. Did nothing other than ask nicely about the program. It was worth the hassle I think.

Appreciate this. I did just that. :)

Retentions is just that. They are there to offer you things that C/S can't to keep you from leaving or if you are unsatisfied with something.

Just called and spoke to a rep who didn't seem to want to give me the plan, but did offer me a different plan. 10GB of data for the price of 6GB. So $80.00 for 10 GB of data, unlimited talk and text then line fees. Seems pretty good considering 20GB would have been more than we could ever use, and we are actually saving money from the grandfathered family plan we had before.

I managed to get the 20gb for 10gb before they closed it off. The problem I'm seeing now is that I can't order an iPhone 6 thru Apple now without apparently losing the data bump. When I try to add it to the cart and it asks to keep my current plan, it shows $40 voice only. I can't check out without choosing a new plan. Anyone else seeing this? I opened a case with ATT but haven't heard anything yet. This is trying to use Next and I get the same thing just now when I tried the 2 year contract.
