I just talked to retentions about being able to upgrade on the 20gb plan and he said that if I want to upgrade, I would have to order it through the retentions department. He said if I try to do it at an Apple store/online or ATT, it might change the plan and I will lose the 20gb plan. He also assured me that I was grandfathered in at the 20gbs and they can't just take it away, but a system would not know that and if the plan is changed, they cannot get it back for you.

So i would say that anyone lucky enough to snag the 20 for 10 deal ..and is currently planning on ordering a new phone..needs to call retentions to have them process the order...cuz it was their deal and they are the only ones who know how to put an order thru without losing the plan.....yes it will suck waiting 6 weeks for your iphone plus but until the 20 for 10 becomes a regular plan in the system then its your only choice......maybe in a couple months they will get it sorted out and you will be able to order thru apple ...

So talked to AT&T again... They said they do not know this will be fixed within a billing cycle.

His suggestion was to buy the phone under a 10GB family share plan and not activate it. He said to then call 611 and have them manually activate the phone which would then allow us to keep the 20GB promotion.

He goes if somehow this did get messed up though, we wouldn't be able to keep the 20GB plan... so this is a just a big mess...

This is the exact same thing I was told. I started a chat and explained the whole issue. He wasn't able to come up with an answer except this. Claimed his manager suggested. He did open up a case with escalations and said I'd hear from them within 48-72 hrs. That was Sat. Nothing yet.

Also my billing cycle started again on the 25th. Two days after I got the 20gb bump. Still won't allow an upgrade via Apple.

So does your bill show that you're only paying for 10GB but getting 20GB?

Yet another reason to just go order a T-Mobile unlocked phone from Apple.com

This plan being messed up on your account stuff is unsurprising, I've seen weirdness like this before with AT&T and it's always been sorted out eventually. Only reason any of this matters right now is that many are also looking to do phone upgrades too.

Give it some time to stabilize.

Killing the 20 for 10 was a knee jerk reaction and applied across the system indiscriminately. Like a global kill-switch. Probably explains why the rest of the systems can't recognize it now.

Heck, just creating the 10 for 20 in the first place was a knee jerk to what sprint and T-mo were doing (that's why you could only get it through the special channel of retentions)

And remember that cellular billing software is hideously complex. Let the dust settle.

I have been logging into my account every day since I doubled my 10GB plan. It kept showing that I had a 20GB plan until today I just showed I have a 40GB promo plan. Which they moved me to the 20GB plan and doubled that.

I am calling them now to fix this.

Same thing happened to me - 11am it said 20GB and now it says 40GB. Retentions was less than helpful in trying to get it changed since it "doesn't exist."

My data cycle is today and it updated correctly with the 20gb's. Did you guys receive a text that you would receive 20gb's at the 10gb rate when your plan was changed?

Yes I did, the lady on the phone with me is as "blown away" as I am right now. Her words, not mine.

She can see that I was on it since last week, and that it is no longer on the plan, and she can see that I did not change it. The system appears to have changed it.

The AT&T rep said it was changed by "operations" and she doesn't know why. She would like to put me back on but she is unable to. She opened a ticket for me and it said it will be resolved on November 6th. Not sure why, but she said they will get an answer for me.

The only problem with that is if they can't get you back on that plan, then you miss the window to double your data for the 15gb at the current promotion that ends 10/31.

I just called. No 10-20 upgrades available. The retention guy did say that offer was over. I did get upgraded From 2 to 4 gigs for free! (I don't use a lot of data). Also Retentions can offer you a 100.00 credit towards your bill if you upgrade from subsidized plan to the NEXT plan! (And you can keep your current phone). For each line you upgrade. For me that means a 100.00 credit, I can sell my 1 yr old iPhone 5s and upgrade to an iPhone 6 for about 400.00 off.
The retention team members are the only ones that can make this happen.

Honestly I wouldn't go back to the 40GB plan, it's too expensive, and I really don't need that much. 10GB is usually enough, but I push it close once in a while.

Did you call and say you might cancel? Because the retentions rep I talked to yesterday told me that they pulled the deal because it was meant for people who wanted to cancel and then they got a flood of calls not meaning to cancel and just asking for them to match Sprint or because they heard a friend or family member got it and they wanted it too. It makes me wonder if they are going back and looking up the notes to see if it was really for a cancel.

Thanks, we are all aware of that.

The problem is for those who already got the deal and now taken away.

That's interesting. I thought that was only if you added a new line. Do you mean if you upgrade to a Mobile Value share plan?

No I mentioned that Sprint was offering the same, blah blah blah I was honest and said I wanted it too. The thing is, if I don't get it back I may cancel. I have been a customer since 1999, with exception to two overseas military tours.

Hold out hope that the next plans released will let the user switch to a very comparable plan as their 20GB one recently added. That way, it is upgradeable on the frontside.

I'm thinking of just biting the bullet and switching to the 30GB before the 31st rather than depending on them to fix this issue. At least the 30GB is a "real" plan and widely advertised that you can switch to yourself!

I called a few days ago and a pending activation (iPhone upgrade) prevented them from doubling my data from 10GB to 20GB. The rep. put detailed notes in my account on why I couldn't receive the promotion and that I could call after the phone was activated and receive the promotion. Obviously I called today and was told the promotion is not available. I escalated to the duty manager and they escalated to their manager and I received the promotion. Good luck to everyone still trying!
