I think the moral of the story for all of us is to avoid AT&T for pre-orders moving forward. I've been with the company since cingular days and even before that, when cingular was voicestream. Pre-orders on the iPhone isn't really AT&T's strong point, but it's never been this bad in as far back as I can remember.


The irony of it all is that you can still pre-order, even as people are getting shipping estimates going all the way into Thanksgiving. They obviously have every intention of milking this for all it's worth. 'Pay us now, you'll get your phones eventually, but don't worry, if you don't have one you can still pre-order.' Ridiculous. I should have just waited until the Apple site was up and running. Shame on me for not going with my gut from the beginning.

And thats my biggest beef. I ordered before NOON CST on the 12th and my shipdate is the same as someone who can place an order right this very second. How does that work exactly? It's obviously BS and not even a real date. They would be better of saying they have no idea when it will ship.
 
I had planned on Apple but loaded AT&T as a backup plan. AT&T started working 15 min early. I cringed and filled out the order at AT&T, constantly checking Apple at the same time hoping they'd open early and I'd have an out.

From 3-3:15 I checked Apple wondering if I had made the wrong choice, but it didn't load. Thought I had made the right choice. Nope.

Yea I saw on twitter that people were getting through via the apple store app when the main site was down.

Unfortunately "Premier" customers can't order with Apple. It must go through AT&T premier site, hence we are stuck here. The only option we have is to leave AT&T & order from other carrier's premier site.
 
ATT/Apple

Yeah, AT&T is getting hammered. Deservingly.

This is great and I feel AT&T deserves this feedback but aren't we also forgetting the other culprit here. I never would have ordered with AT&T in the first place had Apple's website been up and functioning at 3:00 EST. The fact that it was taken down on one of the most important nights was pitiful.
 
What sucks even more is with the lack of communication, I couldn't even figure out a plan for staying home or writing up a notice to UPS/FedEx to leave the package in a secure location upon delivery.

I'm just hoping I don't go back home and see a note on my door when I get back home tonight because I won't be home until about 11 PM and know that I won't be able to pick up the damn phone until Monday.

Starting to feel like canceling my order and just waiting it out ordering through Apple. At least I'll feel better that my money didn't end up in AT&T's hands with their horrendous inability to handle this situation up to par.

My exact and only reasons for ordering through AT&T. The apple website or app just wasn't loading. Seems I would have been better off going to bed and ordering in the morning through Apple.
 
Well, my buddy, who order his a few hours after mine, and had estimated shipping for mid October through November, is suddenly getting both of his today. Mine is still showing Oct 2-13 estimated ship, even though I had my order in 40 minutes after going live. :mad:
 
They didnt charge me for the phones till it shipped yesterday


Correct, but I'm pretty sure you had an authorized hold on your card prior, so that they're covered on their end. Although it's not a "charge" per say, those funds still had to be available in order for the order to go through. But that's neither here nor there as it's been a frustrating experience for many of us.

The company lacks organization big time, specially for a release of this magnitude. And the fact that they are STILL taking in pre-orders just boggles my mind.

Not to mention that we'll soon be receiving our new bills with no device, so essentially we're paying for something we don't have and have no clue as to when we'll receive it either.
 
Guys, I'm not convinced that we won't see our phones today. Maybe not all of us, but some night. The rumblings yesterday about ATT pulling store supplies to fulfill preorders seems to have some validity since we're getting reports of that supplies are extremely low.

Think about it: if they did pull store supplies last minute for the 6+ it stands to reason that shipping info would be way behind on something like that since the phones' original destinations were to stores and not our addresses.

stopped at local at&t store just for kicks. Only 3 others in line ahead of me. Employee said they had gotten one 6+, 64gb silver. First two guys got a 6, and the guy right ahead of me took the 6+. :(

oh well, i guess i wait now for my pre-order. I ordered the 64gb gold anyway so at least i will get the color i want now.

I will say that they had the 6 on display at the store and it was gorgeous! A little bigger than i thought it would be so the 6+ is gonna be a beast! :d

AT@T stores have basically NO 6 plus phones. My area had 1, and I've seen that many report the same thing. So that might be true. My only concern is that I see no charge to my card since the pre auth was lifted. If no charge, then there's no phone being shipped.
 
I feel your pain man, I think the Apple site didn't open back up until at least an hour after midnight, if not more. I think that's the reason many of us ended up going through ATT first. Had the Apple site been functioning at the time, many of us would be having our phones by now. Oh well.

I agree. I was desperately trying to order from Apple but it would not come up. I talked to a customer service agent the day before launch, and she told me that last year the Apple site had crashed during the 5S orders.

I didn't really trust that info so I tried Apple first. I then went to At&t and was able to order right away, but the their site also locked up after that.

Happy launch day, we now don't have to sit on here like crazy people and wonder. It's either coming today or not. Not leaving my house till noon..
Hope everybody gets their shiny new device...
 
I'm fine waiting this time, I know my phone will get here at some point. But never again will I order from Att's website. Awful system and the fact that it's not first come first serve is a huge problem. They have order numbers, that's how it should go into the system. Makes absolutely no sense to order on time and skip the lines at the stores when the phone won't be here on release date. Have to wait till the first week of October even though I preordered 7 minutes before the sites went officially live. Garbage!

Having said that I am enjoying seeing other people post photos of their devices, cases and reviews. That will hold me over at least through the weekend before I start crying next Monday... as co-workers come in with their new Iphone 6's. Meanwhile I'm waiting for my 6+. So while I may be the odd man out, I'll have the last laugh when they check out my "BIG" screen! :)

Meanwhile, I must have gotten about 10 emails urging me to upgrade my phone and pre-order offerings since the 12th, wish ATT would be that diligent in regards to our order updates.
 
This is aligned with my expectations at this point.

They don't have a clue. Sorry. Its not coming, no time soon. At this point I'm not sure if my order is valid. How else can you explain the multiple statuses? Preparing to ship, processing preorder etc etc. AT&T can not get their stuff together and nobody seems to care.
 
I recommend everyone try to get their upgrade fee waived. ******* AT&T, the least we could get for waiting 2+ weeks is a discount

I ordered 3 iPhone 6 Plus, SG, 128GB phones. 2 of them were AT&T and one was through Apple almost an hour AFTER the AT&T orders.

I received my shipping number for the phone through Apple this morning. I'll have it next week. As for the two from AT&T? Who knows... I wish I did all 3 through Apple.

This is literally the first launch I missed since the original iPhone. What is the point of a pre order? I tried to keep the faith all week long, thinking it would still arrive here today, even though I KNEW this wasn't going to happen. Hooray AT&T. I may be a Verizon customer soon.

Don't worry. My wife's i6 shipped Saturday and there was no charge for it on our card even yesterday. It doesn't mean anything.

I don't believe that's entirely true. Many people yesterday got tracking numbers and didn't have their cards charged.
