They were definitely busy, my times are (All EST):

Order @ 4:50AM

Order Confirmation email @ 5:56AM

2nd Confirmation Email w/Order number @ 7:57AM

I would have rather ordered it direct from Apple but I am loathed to cancel with AT&T and wait for my upgrade eligibility to reset.

I briefly considered this as well on Friday (I had an Apple.com reservation email saying I had 24 hours to order) but I too decided it wasn't worth making the attempt to cancel and have my upgrade released in time for me to make the apple.com deadline. And really, it's only a few extra weeks (possibly less). Yes, the people who get theirs next Friday will be able to hold them high above their head and show everyone how cool they are. But really, this phone is going to last most people at least 2 years and waiting an extra few weeks really isn't going to impact your long-term enjoyment of the phone. Just relax.

ATT Pre-order status

It is what it is....

I waited 4 years to get an iPhone with a big screen so what's a few extra days.

I'm sure there are a ton of people working very hard to get those orders out ASAP as we speak.....

Agreed!

Don't get me wrong, I understand the bitching and complaining and I do think ATT et al could do a much better job on the web order side of things. Lord knows I've complained in the past about it. The main thing is, to me, that there is no right or wrong way to pre order and doing it one way or another won't guarantee a better chance at success.

I sat there with an ATT pre order confirmed at 2 minutes to 3 am (12 pacific) while people ordering on Apples site couldn't even get the pre order page up. It's controlled chaos! Actually I think it's uncontrolled lol!

Hi, I ordered the iPhone 6 space grey 64gb thru AT&T website once pre ordering became available. I was curious to know how I can check to see that my iphone is off backorder.

http://www.att.com/wirelessorderstatus I used this website and it doesn't tell me if the phone is off backorder or not.

someone please help, I just want to know which website I can check to see if my phone is off backorder.

It's all relative

I really wanted to go through Apple, but when their site wouldn't work I finally ordered my 6+ 64 slate through the AT&T site when it opened for me ( I was trying to open both from 3 AM EST on).
I was pretty pissed that my order was hung up because I missed the agree to terms checkbox ( I was still groggy) and finally got the order completed at about 3:40 AM EST. Then my 10-14 day estimate slipped to 10/14-10/22 in the confirmation email and I was even more annoyed. But reading this thread has made me realize that getting a 6+ from AT&T with that ship date is actually great!
I refuse to get mad about this stuff. I've done that when past roll outs got the best of me. But I do hope the lines are long, the weather is bad, and the supplies are short next Friday for all those cocky "Just go buy it on the 19th at the store like me if you don't like the wait" posters. Is that so wrong? LOL

The website you used is the one to check. If it's not there I doubt you'll see anything different elsewhere. Call and talk to a rep but it's unlikely they'll know much different.

Interesting tidbit...

Spoke to a rep at an AT&T store today, she said that the AT&T stores will only get however many iPhones they get for launch day and the rest will be going out to fulfill pre-orders (in-store and online). Passed that, it may be a month or so before they get any more in-store (based on past iPhone releases).
So it sounds like outside of in-store inventory, AT&T will be pushing out pre-order iPhones before replenishing their stores.

That's the website. It should indicate a timeframe for expected shipping.

Strange how inconsistent AT&T is. I went to 3 stores and none of them would allow me to order and have it delivered to their store.

This is just BS. I ordered between 1210am pacific time/310am eastern time and 1220am/320am on att.com
Originally it said ships between 14-21 days business.

Now I check order status and it says will 10/31-11/11 shipping. That's closer to 30-40 business days.

iPhone 6 plus 64gb gold.

What even more BS is I ordered 64gb iPhone 6 plus at 345am eastern time/1245am pacific time from ipad apple store app for my wife and hers will deliver by September 19th.

I was told by AT&T (and who knows if any of these reps have a clue) that the queue we are all in is based on when THE CREDIT CARD WAS PROCESSED, NOT WHEN WE PLACED THE ORDER.

For me it explains why I have an earlier shipment date than my friend even though he ordered at 12.11 and I ordered at 12.45 AM LA time.

If true that's amazingly (and insultingly) bad.

I'm not so sure about that. I would assume at the time of placing the order your CC was charged like all other internet commerce.

I wouldn't expect that to be the case for preorders.

At any rate, the ATT website did specify that the card wouldn't be charged until shipment.

My AT&T order says it will ship November 1-12. I ordered at 5:10AM (2h10m in). I'm hoping it will ship Tuesday or Wednesday or at worst, the week after.

I thought they would NOT charge until the phone shipped? I've been charged $541 already but my date is not until October 2-13.

Sometimes they will charge the full amount to guarantee funds and the charge will then fall off only to be reinstated once it ships. Other times just a $1 charge will show up.

I can confirm this because I placed 2 orders within minutes of each other, just minutes after the AT&T preorder site went live. One had a credit card issue and one went through fine. I took me over 24 hours to get AT&T to re-run the credit card and now that order is showing a ship date of 10/13 - 10/31. Absolutely ridiculous and ready to just cancel and switch to Verizon.

Why would pre-orders be different? If the card is not valid or over drawn why would they confirm the order? I don't think there were staff doing CC processing in the back room.

Ordered:

64 gb iPhone 6 Plus Gold (Next)

64 gb iPhone 6 Plus Black (2 yr Contract)

My estimated shipping date is 11/9-11/27, which is insane, as I was told 3-4 weeks at the store. Otherwise, I would have ordered through Apple.

I have an issue with the fact that I want my next plan to renew every mid-September, but this whole November delivery date is going to screw that up. Is anyone currently ordering the pluses through Apple and getting a much earlier delivery date? Or are all of the pluses "backordered?"

Oh, and my credit card was charged for both phones, which makes no sense since they haven't been shipped out...

Just checking in to follow along. At least refreshing this page instead of the order status page gives new info each time.

My 64 gig 6 and my 64 gig 6+ are both "preparing for shipment" from AT&T, even though the 6+ has an estimated ship date for next month. We'll see.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I got about 10 preauthorizations. 2 of them for the phone's actual amount, the rest for $1.

You should be able to cancel.. they have plenty of customers who need the phone other than someone rejecting shipment. I'd call and find out. I have a link to cancel preorder when I log in and check the status. Do you have a confirmation email?

Yup. You've got it right. My CC didn't get processed due to a billing address error (didn't match my address with AT&T service) and I called back today and was given a November 9-27 est ship date. I initially had the early October date. Pretty disappointed but oh well. Ordered a second pair of phones through Apple today with my upgrade eligibility still working there (Order is "processing" with estimate ship date 3-4 weeks).

Pretty astonishing that AT&T would bump me like that as I ordered at 2:55am
5 minutes before the official launch. I must have had one of the first phones ordered at AT&T.

I have both a $1 charge (earlier) and then the full charge, yet my shipping date says 13-Oct to 31-Oct.

I have a hell of a time reconciling these two statements:
- "We won't charge your card until your order is ready to ship" and
- "Your order isn't shipping for another ~4 weeks"

I'm going to wait ... if the charge on my card becomes legit (versus just pending), then I'm really going to call up and raise hell b/c, then, one of those two statements is flat wrong.

Mine also say "preparing for shipment" with an estimated ship date of November 9 - 20somthing. I seriously doubt it is really getting ready to ship but who knows?
