AT&T Pre-order status

I have a feeling this is true:mad: I ordered my IP6+ 128 gig at 2:22am CST on the 12th. I did not receive my confirmation email until 7:34 am CST which would be 8:34 am EST.... I was told yesterday that I lost my place in line due to processing, but they could not tell me what happened. So pretty much my order did not go through until 7:34 am!!:(

I dont think this is true, at least not based on the email times. I am Premier and I got a confirmation email immediately after my order which was 15 minutes before preorders went live, and then got another email that its in the process of being fulfilled at 4am CST.

Needless to say I am as disappointed as everyone else. Im not sure how my preorder, which had to be near the front since I got in early, has made no movement.

At this point I am pretty skeptical that I will get my phone tomorrow.

Just for reference I ordered 6+ 64gb Space Grey.

Exactly! Again, maybe not true, but if it is, and if I were a business owner, they'd rue the day. Completely unacceptable, unless they're going to manually put everyone into their correct spot "in line". Which, to be fair, could be part of the shipping dates craziness.

That's screwed up. Lost your place in line due to processing?! Did a premier rep tell you that? Unbelievable! More like never got a place in line because you weren't getting in line at all when you thought you were.

Yes a premier rep told me. Sucks... but it is what it is at this point.:(

I don't think it's entirely true... I ordered at 12:06am PST. Got this email with this time... That's still 4AM EST. Though, my wife did get the text message some hours later.

So at this point my question is; can apple cancel my AT&t order tomorrow for an ip+ and upgrade me? That's if I get lucky and get a + from apple.

What aggrivates me is that it seems like it is NOT on a first come first serve basis. You have people that ordered 3am EST that won't be getting their iPhones till October-November and others that ordered the next day that will be gettin theirs tomorrow. Really?
You need to remember that with color, memory and size differences you have 18 possible combinations. Some choices probably ran out sooner than others.

It's not true, I have one confirmation at 11:58 on 9/11 and the other at 12:01 on 9/12.

I just got another one of those as well, does that mean our orders are being confirmed to not be going out? LOL. I see either those or shipped emails are being sent out.

I just read on Reddit that Premier orders had to be manually approved by the Premier people...and that office opened at 8AM EST on the 12th. So they're saying people with Premiwr essentially had their orders placed 5+ hours after the preorder started.

I don't know if there's any truth to this. Pretty crummy if so.

Nah, not true. I ordered three 16gb IP6 right after 3am through business Premier. All three confirmations came in immediately 3:21am, 3:25am; 3:27am. Then I received all 3 Great News emails just past 7am EST.
couldn't have been faster.

I've been one of the lucky ones I guess as the ordering was painless, got the 9/17 to 9/18 ship date immediately and then my Fedex tracking umber yesterday. I only got 1 shipped email but all three were shipped. Yes, premier status isn't updated but the att order status page is.

Ordered 2 silver, 1 space gray 16gb IP6, shipping to South Florida

Hmmm I haven't received this email. I wonder if they're sending it out based on inventory. What config did you get? Also, looks like you were already placed in the 10/2-10/13 group while I was bumped twice to that group. 6+ 128gb silver

Maybe you guys should tweet att customer care, and voice your complaints/concerns/outrage about not having the latest device on the market, having ordered within minutes of them taking pre-orders.

Maybe you shouldn't advocate doing things like this. YOU'RE the problem.

You can't seriously believe that just because you set your alarm to wake you up in the middle of the night you are ENTITLED to a new toy right after it's released? Pre-ordering is seriously an easy thing to do.

Can you imagine the logistics that go into receiving and distributing MILLIONS of iPhones?! I'm still amazed that everyone actually gets their phones.

ATT customer care is doing the best they can with the information they're given and are overwhelmed right now. They don't need an extra thousand whiny baby iPhone nerds tweeting them as well.

Mine still says preparing to ship and expected delivery date 10/02-10/13.
877# says backordered.
(Ordered premier 5 min. after midnight. 6+ 64gb sg.)

Exactly, this is why I canceled my original order on 09/12 and placed a new one on 09/13 once I found out which colors/sizes they had plenty of. I'm getting it tomorrow. I could care less if it's white or black. Although others I understand may feel differently.

Even if they're only producing 140,000 plus models/day, I'm assuming they've been manufacturing for at least two weeks, that's 1.96MM units they should have available at launch. I know they received 4MM preorders the first day. If it was 80/20 in favor of the plus they'd need 3.2MM. So they'd be 1.2MM short of what they need. That still doesn't explain why I'm not getting one of the 1.96MM when I ordered before the official window! That's why I'm angry!

I'm trying to figure out the math you did... Major things we don't know are:
1) How many 6+ phones were actually produced BEFORE launch date
2) Out of the 4 million preorder, how many were for the 6+ (I'm guessing half at least, but let's use your 80/20)
3) If the 6+ was only produced at 20% total, how many actual 6+ phones were available for the preorder, (obviously not enough, right?) So how many MORE would have had to be produced, in order to fulfill the online orders (they're also producing for in-store purchases) in the last 6 days (since the 12th)

In the last 6 days, they would have only been able to produce 840,000 6+, how many are allocated to the THOUSANDS of stores in the U.S.? Lets assume they love us preorderers and NONE of the 840k go to the stores. Add that to your estimate of 1.96M 6+ equals 2.8 Million 6+ produced, WE NEED 3.2 MILLION, so we still have a discrepancy of 400,000 6+, and that's ASSUMING ALL 840k phones go to preorder, which I highly doubt. Now try to figure out how many of the 840k go to the stores. Oy.

I'm now wondering if the selection of who got and did not get an ip6+ has anything to do with grandfathered-2yr contracts compared to next share plans. Att has done stuff like this before, such as throttling unlimited users when the released family share, restricting face time, and even forcing people to change their plans ( happened to my family twice).

Restricting phones could be a new tactic to try and force us into new plans. Even the promo their running is restricted to next upgrades only for trading in old iPhones.

That sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen

Fedex says my phone is in Orlando at the regional sorting facility and will be out for delivery tomorrow and arrive at my house by 8:00pm. Hopefully its later than earlier.

Well all three of mine are grandfathered plans and they are all arriving tomorrow

Okay that's great and all and while I do agree. att specifically said "first come, first serve" and to have people who have ordered it hours after I did and get their shipments tomorrow, is what is annoying most of us. being back ordered, okay fine. but it's not fair that people who ordered eight hours after me are getting their pluses while I'm sitting here still with a October 2nd shipping date just think of it as people lining up at all the Apple stores, only to have numerous people cut them and receive their iPhones while I didn't receive anything. it's the same principle pretty much.

I just got another one of those as well, does that mean our orders are being confirmed to not be going out? LOL. I see either those or shipped emails are being sent out.

I havent seen either of those emails 6+ sg 16 gig ordered at 3:05 PST

still preparing to ship

First time it happened was in the late 90s. My parents had analog phones and we got a letter from att saying if we didn't come in and upgrade our phones and plan we would be dropped. The gave us the story of upgrading their services from analog to digital. Funny thing is if you turn the phone on today, it still gets signal.
