I'm right there with you and have done this dance before. This time I actually got up at 3 AM but the Apple Store was down and AT&T took 30 minutes to connect as well. Should have waited for the Apple site to open. They give priority to their customers ( and Apple controls the inventory, not AT&T). Not much you can do now except make that fateful decision to cancel the order and then go to a 6 if you can find one at a brick and mortar. Finding a 6 + will be like finding a leprechaun. If you find an AT&T store with 6's available you can cancel the order there, but I think it might be harder to get it at the Apple Store if you have an existing pre-order to cancel. Best advice is to chill and wait it out and don't pre-order through AT&T again. They get lousy inventory from Apple for pre-orders. It's been that way for years.
