Has anyone seen AT&T's new commercial where a customer comes in and the employee answers his question before he asks? Stating "Yes, we have the new iPhone"

Does that seem weird of AT&T to do?

So they advertise that they have the new iPhone in hand so that people can come in to make an order for one to receive in a few weeks?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE8Wevo0b1I

Whenever I see that ad, I say, "No, you don't."

Kinda like the email I got a week or two ago, it went something like "come on into your local AT&T store today and pickup the new iPhone 6..."

They can't even fulfill pre-orders yet, but they are advertising they have the phone...not cool.

Congrats!. The only 6's I've seen within an hour of me have been the 16 GB ones. :(

It seems like bunches of 6+'s are coming in now (finally), but not many plain 6's... and the silver/white ones are rare. I only ordered silver because I really didn't care about the color and AT&T said those would be delivered earliest.... (sigh). It really does some like they're pretty incompetent.

Just a friendly reminder that Apple makes the iPhone not AT&T.

I'm wondering how people forget about that.

Once Apple iPhone's are completed at the plant in China it's Apple that has them shipped.

I'm wondering how many people are confused about that.

All this AT&T bashing for what reason?

Did you know AT&T can only buy these from Apple? There's no other sources.

Until Apple ships iPhone's to AT&T, there's nothing that can be done.

My third iPhone 6 + from AT&T is being delivered to me tomorrow. Each year I buy mine through AT&T without a problem.

It's rather surprising that so many people are confused. I'm happy with my three purchases. This time around.

If AT&T could deliver phones on a FIFO basis *and* be able to give narrow estimated dates that they meet, I think there would be a lot less AT&T bashing. Both of those can and should be within AT&T's ability to control.

THIS is the point. I don't think it's Apple's fault that AT&T seems to have no logical prioritization to their distribution process, or an accurate view of their supply chain.

You'll get one person that gets a certain model after 2 weeks, and others that wait 4 weeks for the exact same phone.

You can walk into an AT&T store in one city and walk out with a 6 Plus 64 GB (admittedly, rarely) while others that PRE-ordered on 9/12 waited a month... and others are still waiting.

I'ts AT&T, not Apple, that told me "order the the silver one, it's only 2 weeks back-ordered, the grey is 3 weeks".. and, "these are conservative estimates, they should show up earlier" then said, "uh... well... the silver one is now 5 to 6 weeks"... while the grey ones are rolling out.

It's AT&T, that didn't send a single update until after my two week original window had passed... and then simply sent, "we've updated your delivery date"... not even a, "sorry, dude, we're trying".

It's AT&T that told me, "You have to trade in your iPhone 5 by September 30th if you want the $200 trade-in deal". I've been rockin' a 6 year old Pantech flip phone for the past month. Now I assume I'll have to call up and bitch to them to remove the $30 per month data charge since I'm not using it. Because they certainly won't offer it (well, I strongly doubt it).

Now I'm SURE they have reasons for all of this, but communications on it hasn't been their strong point for the past month.

I've been an AT&T customer since the Cingular days and I'm not USUALLY an AT&T basher, but it's my OPINION that they've really bungled this one.

My phone is apparently being sent USPS 3-Day priority mail. All this time waiting and they couldn't bother to FedEx it over night? My wife's phone, which arrived nearly month ago now, was sent overnight.

At this point, I'm just whining, but I want my phone!

For the privilege of ordering through AT&T, you wait 2-4 times as long. If you order a 6+ now, you might get it in December; likely closer to the end of December rather than the beginning. If you order directly from Apple, you still might get it by Thanksgiving.

Apple ships a big box of phones to AT&T. An AT&T warehouse then takes a phone out of the big box, makes a few entries in their computer system, maybe adds a sticker with activation instructions, puts the phone in a small box, adds a label, and sends it to you.

Apple reliably either meets their estimates, or comes very close. AT&T frequently misses their estimates, sometimes by weeks. And if they screw up your first order, you get to wait more months.

Hi . I ordered a 6 64gb . I ordered it 10/11 at a Att kiosk in a nearby mall. Since then I haven't been able to see the status of my order on the Att page . I enter my phone # or the Oder Id , or the order # and it always gives me an error e0019 I think even when I enter the full site it gives me a message your purchase has been processed and gives me a # in hyperlink I click on it and it gives me the same error . I've been able to know the status by calling Att or asking at the kiosk . Any suggestions at what am I doing wrong at the site .

This morning's first email message: SHIPPED!

Hi guys. Pre-Ordered a 6 Plus in Space Gray here in Puerto Rico at an AT&T Store in the morning of 9/13. I was scheduled for the 11/9 - 11/27 timeframe... :(

While waiting in "Backorder Hell" I've been checking desperately DAILY my status on the Order Status Page... aaaand...

This morning it appears as SHIPPED!!!! I have a tracking number already for USPS and it will arrive to the store (security reasons), but still no tracking information...

Hang in there! It was true! There seems to be a lot of movement recently for the Plus Units! Soon guys! Soon!!!!

P.S. - I'M STILL NEVER. EVER.... PRE-ORDERING FROM AT&T... NEVER. EVER. AGAIN. :D

Wonders never cease...

All, I have been lurking quietly, went to cancel my 10/16 6+ SG 128GB order and pick up one locally after several alerts from Istocknow, when I went to cancel my ATT order it actually had a shipped status with tracking, so ordered 10/16 and delivery on 10/31. I did go through my premier account which I don't know if that helped or not.

Wow! That's awesome for you.
I ordered same phone on 9/20.
Not so awesome for me. Shame on you AT&T!!##

Also got my wireless bill this morning. Lol. I will pay when I get my phone. That's right!

Out of the blue...

My estimated ship date for a gray 64GB iPhone 6 plus was Nov 9 to Nov 27; but I just got an email that it was shipped from Fort Worth this AM and would be here on Monday, Nov 3.

Pleasant surprise!

My ship day was also 11-9 - 27 . Will be here tomorrow out of Fort Worth. I live just South of there in Burleson

This is my EXACT SITUATION! Rocking a outdated pantach flip phone for 30+ days now. I wish there was something else that can be done...but as far as I know there isn't.

OMG - I ordered this exact phone on bright and early on 9/19 and my order is still 'preparing to ship' for 42 days...
I am happy that you got your phone, but AT&T has this whole thing so backwards its not even funny.

I am calling the executive office again today...

Ordered on 9/27
Silver 64 GB 6 (website showed Preparing to ship,") shipping 10/16-10/27
Gold 16GB 6+ (Preparing to ship), shipping 11/5-11/14

Ordered on 9/30
SG 16GB 6 (preparing to ship), shipping 10/9-10/20
SG 16GB 6+ (preparing to ship), shipping 11/7-11/18

877 number says "back ordered" on all four.

Ordered all 4 from a brick & mortar AT&T Store.

The two phones ordered on 9/30 were delivered on 10/29 via USPS from Kentucky.

The Gold 6+ ordered on 9/27 will be delivered today (10/30) via UPS from Ft Worth.

Still waiting on the 64GB 6 which has a revised shipping date of 11/01-11/14.

The 64GBs definitely seem to be the rare ones according to istocknow. Very few in the country.

On its way

My back ordered gold 128gb iPhone 6Plus was scheduled to ship between 10/31 and 11/11. I just got an email from ATT that it has shipped and will arrive tomorrow, just in time for Halloween:)

First a disclaimer:
Im NOT advocating for AT&T. I simply find it unacceptable for a company to get bashed due to guesswork and erroneous assumptions.

You are speaking as though you are an insider with AT&T and know exactly how their system is structured. If you didn't think that way you wouldn't be making the accusations around specific scenarios which you're guessing about. Everything you've posted about above has a logical explanation which is not obvious to you. It can't be because there's two sides to the story.

Apple goes silent over technical problems with their products. They are no different.

If I walk into an Apple store and buy the same model of phone I've been waiting for, there's an easy explanation, its no different at the local AT&T store. 5 minutes prior to my arrival the person who ordered that phone arrives, there's a problem that cannot be resolved like his financial picture has changed, suddenly that phone is no longer reserved, but available for the next customer that wants it.

This is but one out a vast array of explanations for various situations.
