They need to get it out the doors asap IMO. All the iPhone 4 news means that they've probably been selling very very few 3GSs recently and there's a lot of competition snapping at Apple's heels. Make or break time now.

Hmm, my wife's upgrade date is June 20th, while mine remains at July 16th and my sisters at July 30th.

We all wanted to get the new one when it's released, think AT&T will make my sister and pay more to upgrade? I went onto AT&T's site a few minutes ago and it says I can upgrade to a new phone, for a higher price, so I checked it out and said that if I want to go to an 8GB 3GS I can "upgrade" for $399. That's $200 more than what I paid for a 3GS for my dad.

but nothing new or ground breaking... and the new iPhone will be as revolutionary as it was when it was first introduced

and... WHAT are these groundbreaking features you want so much?

oh right... you have no idea. because the phone already does everything you could expect a phone to do.

but you're holding out for some new groundbreaking feature, of which you have no idea, and no concept of what you need or want. not even a suggestion.

and you scoff at "magical?" it sounds like you want magical mind-reading pixie dust features... again, of which you have no concept, or even need... but you want to bitch that they aren't keeping up with the strange, vaguely-defined fantasy features in your melon. yeah, THAT will probably happen.

"i'm bored with the iphone... i have no idea how to make it better, or any concept of what i need that it doesn't have... but i just want MORE."

let me guess... you find a way to be disappointed A LOT. right?

I would not put much stock in the possible release date and when peoples upgrade eligibility was moved up to. I for example have not had mine moved up from November and spend plenty a month for two phone lines between a blackberry and iphone, and I don't even have close to the lowest minute per month plan either. Also, I bought the iphone 3GS on release day, so no, it wasn't a recent purchase.

I am just saying, I remember with past iphone releases, people thought the same things, and it did not pan out that way at all. Remember when the 3GS was released and most of us were not eligible for the upgrade to the 3GS if we had bought a 3G. Then ATT decided to let people be early upgrade eligible and pay a reduced cost, just not fully discounted...Who knows what they may do this time.

I hope the new iPhone has not full multitasking, front facing camera I'll hardly use, non removable battery, and I hope it looks like a brick ie Nokia phone.

:mad::mad:COME ON Apple bring the Iphone to Verizon wireless already. It has been "Long Enough"!!!:mad::mad::mad:

+1

If they don't annouce Verizon availability dates on June 7th, this will be a very tricky decision for me. I have the iPhone 3G now, but am dying to get back to Verizon (see numerous articles regarding service in NYC). It would be so unethical in my opinon to not annouce Verizon availability dates if in fact it is coming to Verizon in the next sixth months and let consumers sign contracts for one to two years only to have the Verizon version come out shortly thereafter. This will be interesting.

Canadian iPad second round of preorders June 8th

I'd be amazed if Steve pulled a "available today/tomorrow". iPads will have barely settled down internationally by then.

Speaking of which, anyone got any of these "employee vacation blackout" rumors for Canada or anyone other country? THAT would be news. This is a yawn. I agree, June 21st, as the earliest any upgrade day was pushed back.

I can't find my Rogers Canada "upgrade date". I would probably have to ask in store to get that information.

How does one check their upgrade availability date? I bought a 3G on release date in July 2 years ago...

I'll admit, I'm a fanboy that lined up for all three previous iPhone launch days.

But, I don't know if I could do it this time around. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited and all, but...
  • maybe it's the economy,
  • maybe it's the upfront costs of a new device,
  • maybe it's all the hype of competing products,
  • maybe it's a lot of the hype that was sucked out of it with these leaks,
  • maybe it's this whole fiasco with Adobe over Flash,
  • maybe it's the Iron Curtain of the App Store,
  • maybe it's the rumors of other carriers possibly getting the iPhone,
  • maybe it's because of my new iPad 3G (and still a tad bit of bitterness it didn't have a camera),
  • maybe it's AT&T's newly astronomical Early Termination Fees,
  • maybe it's seeing AT&T sit comfortably on its unjustified profits without lifting a damn finger until recently, and/or
  • maybe it's watching the iPhone hardware and OS grow so slowly over the last three years that I'm just not sure if I want to wait another month to another year for a feature that may or may not come.

2007 was a great start for Apple, and a great start for a lot of us. Maybe we're just spoiled now, but, in theory, we've waited a long time for the iPhone 4/HD, with all the features we really wanted. But, sometimes when you've waited so long for something, you just aren't as excited about it anymore when it finally arrives, especially with so many distractions that come along with it like baggage.

You will certainly be eligible to upgrade. But go to your account online and you can click on the link to check you upgrade eligibility and it will tell you where you fall.

- REAL Multitasking
- 100% Web Support (not what Apple thinks the web should be support)
- The ability to run applications like Google Voice, Skype over 3G, and Tethering
- Better Contacts integration like WebOS has.
- Video Chat features
- Better MobileMe integration
- Back to MyMac Features Integrated would be a plus (Citrix has an App for the iPad in development why can't Apple bring BackToMyMac to iPhone.)

Just some of the things I'd like. I'm not holding out on anything. I never hold my breath for technology. I just have no need to buy a 3G/S. My 1st Gen iPhone does everything they do minus 3G which is of no use in my area anyways. Plus my iPhone was free so I didn't even buy it to begin with I was lucky enough to work at Apple and receive it as a gift (very very thankful Apple was kind enough to do that.)

Looking to mugged?

Ehhh NYC is pretty safe now, granted there's spots but NYC has cleaned up since the 80' and 90's.....besides someone who can't form a proper sentence shouldn't really speak.....Looking to mugged, so perfect bro!

You just touched on something important. It's possible that OS4 will "ship" after the keynote or on 6/8. Followed by the new hardware on the 11th. We'll see.

I'm with you. Early release of OS would give us a chance to check it out before the new phone is available. Monday (6/21) is a strange release day foe Apple though.

Okay so I just got a new iphone 3GS replacement for my old one last week. Got an offer to sell it for 400. should I go ahead and do it and rough it out without an iphone for a few weeks? I know the price for 3GS will go down as soon as iphone 4 is announced. I am eligible to upgrade now.

I would definitely get rid of it for $400, if you can. You know you'll have upgrade envy as soon as the new iPhones are out.
