- REAL Multitasking
- 100% Web Support (not what Apple thinks the web should be support)
- The ability to run applications like Google Voice, Skype over 3G, and Tethering
- Better Contacts integration like WebOS has.
- Video Chat features
- Better MobileMe integration
- Back to MyMac Features Integrated would be a plus (Citrix has an App for the iPad in development why can't Apple bring BackToMyMac to iPhone.)

Just some of the things I'd like. I'm not holding out on anything. I never hold my breath for technology. I just have no need to buy a 3G/S. My 1st Gen iPhone does everything they do minus 3G which is of no use in my area anyways. Plus my iPhone was free so I didn't even buy it to begin with I was lucky enough to work at Apple and receive it as a gift (very very thankful Apple was kind enough to do that.)

1. Multi-tasking is hit or miss in its usefulness in phones. It would be great on the Ipad.
2. Flash is adobes fault, its on Android 2.2 but it is slow/a dog, still not officially released until mid June and even then its only for video. There will not be any touch capable interactive flash on mobile devices until Adobe releases ANOTHER update at a later date(who knows when). The Flash Adobe is releasing for Android 2.2 in June is for ads and videos.
3. Skype on mobile/3g is "exclusive" to verizon. AT&T wants no part of Google Voice. Same way with tethering(atleast at the moment, who knows when that will change, maybe with LTE or 3.75G in Q4)
4. Its going to have video chat, we will see who is better the Evo or iPhone.
5. MobileMe is said to be getting an overhaul and possibly going free sometime this year.

I'm going to guess it'll be a June 11th release after the June 7th announcement. I don't really think that Apple is too concerned with upgrade eligibility, if anything, they (or AT&T) get to rake in some more cash by charging all the early adopters more. Give 3gs owners a choice, buy it right now and pay an extra hundred bucks, or wait a week or two and save some cash.

Yeah I know what you mean. I am on the Android verge right now. Sense UI is so damn cool. I wouldn't mind a few more... "Oh and by the way's" from Steve. We haven't got much of the lately.

I know how you feel. I've got a 2G iphone and have been dying waiting for the new 4G/HD iphone. But all the android noise is distracting. A co-worker has a droid incredible with sense UI, its very sweet. And now with the advancement with Froyo out and all its updates its actually moved out ahead of iphone OS. And the google VP over android said the next update in 6 months will be mind-blowing. It actually sounds pretty exciting. Getting new OS updates every 3-6 months instead of minor tweaks once a year like apple does. I'm strongly considering an android phone. Waiting to see what happens at WWDC though. I'd prefer to stick with an iphone, but they are quickly getting passed by google.

I'd be amazed if Steve pulled a "available today/tomorrow". iPads will have barely settled down internationally by then.

Speaking of which, anyone got any of these "employee vacation blackout" rumors for Canada or anyone other country? THAT would be news. This is a yawn. I agree, June 21st, as the earliest any upgrade day was pushed back.

I can't find my Rogers Canada "upgrade date". I would probably have to ask in store to get that information.

Not true...many upgrade dates were pushed to the 20th....and for some reason mine was pushed to MAY 20th..not June..

Looking like if it comes to Verizon, it's not gonna be at WWDC. Well, end of the year is better than never.

You're completely dead wrong. Flash for Android is just not for videos. I've played flash games on a friend's N1 running 2.2 and flash using touch input. It worked quite well. Although after playing for a while I noticed the phone was warm and the battery meter had a good sized chunk out of it.

But Adobe has said that nothing on the web now is really optimized for mobile flash, that once websites start putting out that content things will get even better.

It'd be nice to just have the choice, to use flash or not use flash. Not have Steve Jobs decide for me.

I think you hit it right on the nose, I can't see it coming anytime before June 21, considering you would be shutting all those iPhone 3GS users from getting it on day one. I think Apple would want those loyal users to be able to get it right away, and thus, it will be released either June 21, or a few days after that. At least that is what all signs point to.

Most of 3G users were shut out of the 3GS. My upgrade date was in March.

New Iphone Available at Your Local Bar...

Apple announced today, due to the great response in trial marketing, the new generation iPhone will be available exclusively at local neighborhood bars.

Buyers can simply pickup the new model free and Apple will contact you later for activation under penalty of prosecution.

The iPhones will be generally available starting this Saturday night. Don't forget to check under the barstools;)

If website are going to redo stuff, they will redo it in HTML 5 not redo it in Flash. We are already starting to see this happen.

iPhone Upgrade Information from AT&T

no, because people will have to wait until they are eligible for upgrade, which has seemed to be end of june for many.

ALL:

I wanted to know my upgrade date from AT&T so i dialed *639# and it immediately told me what my upgrade date was. In addition, the message stated the following, "A full discount on a standard handset or iPhone upgrade is not available at this time but you may qualify on 11/21/2010. We can offer you a discounted iPhone upgrade at a higher price with a 2-yr committment and an $18 upgrade fee. Please visit a participating iPhone sales location for pricing on this offer." So, basically even though my upgrade date isn't until November I can still get the new 4.0 iPhone in June when it becomes available. All I have to do is pay the additional $18 and agree to another 2-yr contract with AT&T. Also, I followed up with a call to AT&T and I was told by their Rep that there is a strong possibility of AT&T running a promotion to modify/amend your current upgrade date to align it with the release of the iPhone 4.0 in June or sooner. So, I guess we'll have to wait and see what they're going to do. I'm sure customers won't be locked out from purchasing the iPhone 4.0 whatever their upgrade date may be. The sooner the better. Just give it to us.

They need to get it out the doors asap IMO. All the iPhone 4 news means that they've probably been selling very very few 3GSs recently and there's a lot of competition snapping at Apple's heels. Make or break time now.

They have to get a product out the door to lift quarterly earnings.
iPad lifted this quarter's earning (Apr-June) - the iPad was release on Apr 3,

They need the iPhone 4 to be internationally available and marketed properly this coming quarter (Jul-Sept), which means they have to get the momentum in the U.S. by late June, so that orders can be allocated to Q3.

The phone will be $100 more. That is how it worked for the 3G to 3GS upgrade for those that did not get their date changed...

What is REAL multitasking? What is 100% web support?

As for real multitasking, since it is a mobile device, with a small screen, what besides Internet radio really needs to run simultaneously as we perform some other task?

As for 100% web support, I know of no phone that can supply that. Sure, some have made a big deal over the lack of support of Flash, bit that's not the only web technology iPhones don't support. How about java? Do any phones support java in a manner similar to that on the desktop? Maybe some do. However I am not familiar.

I would also like to know what people mean by "real" multi-tasking. Do they means apps keep running in background no matter what? Eating all the battery? They can keep it then! I love Apples implementation. It will be superb!

I still think that if the web has to be "optimized" to use mobile Flash then why not optimize it using something else? Something better.

How does one check their upgrade availability date? I bought a 3G on release date in July 2 years ago...

Just dial *639# on your phone and you'll receive a message from AT&T telling you your upgrade date. STAR 639 POUND Simple as that. Sometimes the connection doesn't go through so just keep trying and you'll get your answer.

The phone will be $100 more. That is how it worked for the 3G to 3GS upgrade for those that did not get their date changed...

It's actually $200 more than the subsidized pricing hence the $399/$499 early upgrade pricing for the current iPhones.

Ok. So our dreams of a next day or at least same week release make sense. June 21st qualifies as "late June" to me anyway, which would make this rumor false. It's gotta be earlier than the 14th.

Here's hoping for a magical next day in stores somehow. I'll be looking for those rumors of secret pallets in Apple stores from Apple Store employees.
