Maybe they'll do a Monday evening, June 7th launch. The keynote usually lasts from 10am until about noon Pacific time. That would give stores on the east coast about three hours to set up and be ready.

Just a thought.

:mad::mad:COME ON Apple bring the Iphone to Verizon wireless already. It has been "Long Enough"!!!:mad::mad: I HAte At&t for proventing us verizon users from getting the iPhone!! AT&T I hate YOU!

Don't blame AT&T, Apple offered it to Verizon but they said no because of Apple's demands.

If website are going to redo stuff, they will redo it in HTML 5 not redo it in Flash. We are already starting to see this happen.

That's doubtful. Every desktop and laptop computer has flash. Also, by the end of the year every android device will be flash capable. idevices are the only ones that cant.

Also, they dont have to redo their entire site, just recompile their flash content with a newer version of flash.

I still think that if the web has to be "optimized" to use mobile Flash then why not optimize it using something else? Something better.

You're right, I never said Flash is better than html 5 or anything else. But flash is by far the leading method for web videos, web apps, web games, etc.

Also, its not a huge feat for content producers to optimize for mobile flash, just recompile with a newer version of adobe software, thats it.

I just really wish jobs would let the people who own the iphones decide. Jobs can't tell me I cant have flash on my mac mini or my mac book. So why should he be allowed to tell me I cant install flash on my iphone? It's mine, right? I bought and paid for it.

I'd rather everything be open in htlm 5, but thats not going to happen. If it ever does, its going to be years and years, we may be on iphone OS 7 by then. Just give us a chance to decide for ourselves.

If M$ behaved this way every person on this forum would be crying out Bill Gates was an evil tyrant and deserved to be hanged. But Jobs does it and everybody in here blindly follows his line. Apple behaves much more monopolistically than M$ ever did.

and... WHAT are these groundbreaking features you want so much?

oh right... you have no idea. because the phone already does everything you could expect a phone to do.

but you're holding out for some new groundbreaking feature, of which you have no idea, and no concept of what you need or want. not even a suggestion.

and you scoff at "magical?" it sounds like you want magical mind-reading pixie dust features... again, of which you have no concept, or even need... but you want to bitch that they aren't keeping up with the strange, vaguely-defined fantasy features in your melon. yeah, THAT will probably happen.

"i'm bored with the iphone... i have no idea how to make it better, or any concept of what i need that it doesn't have... but i just want MORE."

let me guess... you find a way to be disappointed A LOT. right?

The whole point of groundbreaking features is something we don't know or expect, genius. *facepalm*

Ok. So our dreams of a next day or at least same week release make sense. June 21st qualifies as "late June" to me anyway, which would make this rumor false. It's gotta be earlier than the 14th.

Here's hoping for a magical next day in stores somehow. I'll be looking for those rumors of secret pallets in Apple stores from Apple Store employees.
These Monday ship dates are rather unlikely.

The US ship dates on the three previous iPhones have all been on Fridays. The WiFi iPad shipped on a Saturday, the iPad 3G shipped on a Friday.

The most plausible ship dates for the next-generation iPhone are Friday June the 18th and Friday the 25th.

Apple would probably roll out software (e.g., iTunes, iPhone OS 4.0, maybe an OS X update) prior to the hardware launch dates so they can avoid that debacle from two years ago. My guess is that Apple sees the week of WWDC to be a little too busy to try to roll all these out for a Friday the 11th iPhone launch.

I'm also guessing that whoever at AT&T leaked this information still doesn't know the exact ship date. My assumption is that Apple gave AT&T a launch window of 2-3 weeks and that the retail line employees know nothing except that their vacation requests in mid-late June are being denied.

I Personally hope that there is a change in form factor, even though i'm not a massive fan of the way the leaked iPhone looks. the form factor used for the 3G and 3GS is now stale and it would be a mistake to stick with it any longer.

Just talked to the lady that sells me phones at the ATT store in my town..... She said Apple or ATT has not confirmed a release window yet. She said that they have been getting calls about it and they have not heard anything today..... Like it was stated on here, they usually get a 2-3 week window, for training and such.

So if it launches during the WWDC, they would probably hear something in the next week or so.

The fact that she knows nothing sounds about right.

Retail line employees will be the last to find out about the launch plans.

Yes your right about retail employees knowing last....... but the whole point of this " breaking news" was saying that the retail employees had finally found something out, or correct me if I'm wrong, that is how I read it.

Best annoucnment they could make.... FACTORY UNLOCKED.
That's a stipulation by the carrier, not Apple.

As a matter of fact, it is illegal to sell carrier locked phones in some markets (I believe Belgium is one). Unfortunately, it is pretty common in the United States for mobile operators to put carrier locking in their contracts with the device manufacturers.

Worldwide

Can anyone answer this question........will it be launched worldwide???
im in Australia and im hungry for this phone!!!!!:)

First of all, it's a rumor, not a press release or official communication. Also, we don't know which AT&T employees were notified. The rumor does not explicitly state that line level retail employees were notified; it is possibly that line level retail employees are being denied vacation requests for mid-late June by managers. The AT&T employees privy to the launch could be network engineers or inventory managers. It could be purchasing agents.

Apple sells their products to channel partners such as AT&T. AT&T doesn't sell them on consignment if they feel like it. Basically someone in Apple Channel Sales is saying, "We're shipping you 250,000 new iPhones in two weeks. Clear out some space in your warehouses. There are X boxes per pallet; each one weighs Y pounds. Oh, yeah, and send us a check. Call us if you need more."

Again, retail line employees would be the last to know.

I agree with you..... I called it " breaking news" cause most of the rumor sites were actin like it was news...... I know its just a rumor...... but if it is to be coming out soon, the retail employees will soon be finding out

Does it matter? The phone is only as good as the service it's on and AT&T sucks. I've experienced so many dropped calls in the last month I'm canceling my account early (only two months, but still...) and refuse to buy an iPhone as long as it's exclusive to AT&T. When I'm spending $125 a month for service it had better work.

worldwide

Eventually, but no one except for Apple knows the timing and they haven't announced it yet.

but when it is launched at the WWDC will it take a while to come to Australia, do you reckon it will be only in the US for some time before they ship them everywhere?

That's exactly what I thought. The 7th would be a little hectic and the 11th seems to be a much better fit, since it is a Friday. Then again, I could be wrong.

June 11th would be great but it may be wishful thinking. IMO a more likely release day would be the following Friday, June 18th...at least that's my prediction. Crossing my fingers for the 11th though! :D
