Just switched to UL.
So $100 a month (before taxes and fees.) Just swapped to t-mobile from AT&T earlier today. So far so good. I'm not sure why AT&T thinks people are going to pay $100 vs $80 on Verizon or $70 on T-Mobile. They have good coverage, but is that really worth $30 more per month?

I've tried other carriers in my area and ATT just has better reception in most spots I frequent. Other than that, $30 a month isn't enough to make me bother switching and I have had ATT since they were previously Cingular Wireless. So going on something like 20 years with them...

I have tethering on my iPad with the DTV unlimited plan. It may be an accident but I have rebooted it several times and even did the latest software upgrade-still have the personal hotspot active.
Nice! I'll have to check that out next time I'm at my mom's. I've got an iPad Air 2 with me all the time, it's got a SIM with UL VZW legacy data feeding it, MHS included so I've never tried mom's iPad for tethering. Cheers!

Again this topic. I think you have a long road ahead of pressuring your providers. Just to give you some perspective, in Europe, I have an "unlimited plan" for around 18$, and the speed of data is throttled to 2Mb/s after using 100GB. Additionally, I have wifi and LTE calling included. I Have a 250Mb/s connection at home (big city) for 15$ with no data cap. You guys are waaaay behind the whole world. It's sad that US is like a third world country of mobile and wired data connections.

Better how exactly ? I work underground in the subways & the most reliable provider is AT&T
Open signal has shown Verizon and even T-Mobile taking the lead in terms of realibility and speed anyway.
I'm on AT&T, I'm contemplating leaving as the network has not improved in my area and T-mobile and Verizon have. Why should I pay top dollar when my network is 3rd place?

All of these unlimited plans seem rather pricey unless you're bringing your nuclear family with you.

Verizon, for instance, still offers cheaper tiered data plans:

2GB - $35
4GB - $50
8GB - $70

You can pay less if you don't use much data... i.e. 2GB or 4GB

But if you can afford $70/mo for 8GB... you should be able to find an extra $10 to get 22GB+

At this point... the 8GB plan seems silly. I wonder how long they'll keep it around.

But getting back to your pricey argument... just a few days ago $80 only got you 12GB.

Now you get 22GB+ for the same price.

That's quite an improvement!

So that makes Four.

Sprint must be ******** it's pants now.

All they had was offering Unlimited (and T-Mobile was still taking them out to the woodshed).

They can't possibly lower their price points any further, right?
Today Sprint introduces the free unlimited everything plan! Just use us. We beg you. Do whatever you want!
[doublepost=1487327395][/doublepost]Also, **** Att. I will never go back to them, out of spite. **** Randall Whatshis****inface.

And tethering? Their current unlimited plan doesn't offer it, current meaning when connected to directTV

ACTUALLY I have the unlimited data with the DIRECTV plan and it allows for tethering from my iPad Pro. This doesn't work on my iPhone 6 Plus, but it does indeed offer full tethering on my iPad Pro. I use it all the time. Never been throttled either.

No personal hotspot? I don't see any mention of it. I can only assume that they're sticking with the policy of the existing "Unlimited" plan (i.e. no personal hotspot allowed).

ACTUALLY, with the unlimited with DirecTV plan it allows you to use hotspot/tethering on my iPad Pro. I use it all the time and I've never been throttled either.

The real question is. Why would
Someone who has unlimited with att switch to this plan and lose hd video?

Also how much is three lines unlimited than?

You can turn of the data saver feature when you log into your account online. I turned mine off the day the started that.

I have the same setup! I am able to tether from my iPad Pro on the DTV unlimited plan.

Yup. It's not advertised anywhere and lots of people will swear up and down your lying, but it's the truth. Personally I think the 22GB throttle isn't exactly a very strict rule either as I go over it by a lot... very often.

I have not pushed it past the 22GB to test it yet.

Why do you think this functionality is available for some but not others?

Seems like AT&T would advertise such since tether is a big issue for many.

I don't get why they don't advertise it either. Seems it would be a HUGE selling point seeing as so many people think there is no tethering on the unlimited plan. Even as you and I discuss this, people are reading this on here and still assuming no such tethering exists. Sometimes it makes me feel like I'm in some kind of parallel universe in which AT&T allows tethering with their unlimited data plan while everyone else is stuck in a world in which they do not. So actually, thanks for responding and confirming it's not just me. Sometimes it makes me feel like I'm going insane! Lol

As far as the throttling over 22gb... I tested it when I first figured out I could tether. I so often forget to turn wifi on now that it's now become the norm for me lol. I get around 40 download on cellular in my area and my home internet gets around 50 so it's not a big enough difference for me to even notice any difference at all. Sure AT&T is a bit more pricey but it beats the competition for me. I just take my iPad with me everywhere and have my phone connect to its hotspot where ever I go. Bam.. no more throttling on my iPhone either after going over.(which is also on the same plan).

No wonder it took them forever to respond. They had to spend days figuring out how to screw us this hard.

Due to their insane marketing they have figured out a way to make the four line option the same price as Verizon while simultaneously making anything less than four lines or more than four lines more expensive.

I have 7 lines plus iPad. But if we just drop the iPad for a second.

WHY ATT WHY

FTFY. All of these unlimited plans seem rather pricey unless you're bringing your nuclear family with you.

Well, no, you didn't fix anything for me. Speak for yourself -- just yourself. None of these plans are bargains, true, but it's all relative to available competing plans. I can't buy an O2 data package in the US and UK citizens can't buy 4 liters of gas for £2.

And with that criterion; i.e., reality, in comparison with VZW and TMob rates, ATT is basically telegraphing to single line customers: please go away. $75 at TMob is still $20 less than I pay ATT for my grandfathered unlimited plan AND w/o tethering, free 2G international data, or Go-Go inflight WiFi (or TMob Tuesday). (I use the $75 figure b/c visual voicemail and caller ID are $5 more -- though that also includes unlimited GoGo. Those are options I will p/u but also wanted to make the comparison as 1:1 as possible).

I wonder if ATT will force a switch. They've bumped up our monthly rates on the grandfather plan twice.

I think their goal is to rather than be the evil warlord that forcibly removes the original residents from the village they will instead keep turning up the heat in $5 increments to either sweat us out or achieve fee parity with current plans. I fully expect another $5 increase in the next 12 months which is why I'm taking this sudden price war opportunity and jumping ship to TMob and if that doesn't work out to VZW. Either of those is less or same $ for more product.
