What? Why? Wouldn't it apply to the first $100 since that's the primary line and then not the extra lines?

Because the rate plan for the line is as follows:

$60 Base rate
$40 line fee per line added.

So first line is advertised as $100, however since the base rate for the actual plan is $60, that's where the FAN discount will apply.

Smoke and mirrors. I'm on ATT, and there are no longer overage fees. They simply slow data the same as they do on unlimited. Hence, there is no "unlimited" plan. . they're just adding an expensive 22Gb plan.

Unlimited means no overage fees and data continues to work. Just because the speed slows down doesn't mean it's not unlimited. Not to mention, it's only throttled if you're past 22gb AND the area of towers you're currently connected to is congested.

It is $180. I'm on ATTWS (and also use VZW, but this is besides this point), with DirecTV. The current ATTWS UL data terms are here:
https://www.att.com/shop/wireless/unlimited-plan.html

What some are not aware of is you can get that 4th line - $40 plus a $40 credit, so no cost besides the taxes - in a cellular iPad, I just asked nicely. I use this iPad for my mom, in a rural area with spotty power issues - when the power goes out she fires up the iPad's DirecTV app and watches her programming on that, and the DirecTV app's data doesn't count against the allocation. Gotta keep mom happy…

The only miss is no tethering, and I don't see it in this new plan either.

I have tethering on my iPad with the DTV unlimited plan. It may be an accident but I have rebooted it several times and even did the latest software upgrade-still have the personal hotspot active.

Since AT&T is allowing grandfathered unlimited data users 60 days to terminate their plan after the $5 increase in March, does that mean AT&T will unlock phones with the ETF technically have been "paid off"?

And it is calculated towards 1/4 of the bill(assuming four lines)? The way it used to be is you got the fan for the entire account. Then they did it for only the data package and the main line on the account. I have not been with them for ytwo years, which is why I ask. I wasn't sure if they had changed anything since.

Edit: My wife would be eleigible for 21%, this I know. I am trying to figure out how I could caclulate this and see what she saves, because it wasn't a flat 21% with our last plan (though it was while we had the original UDP).

From my experience the FAN discount is on the price of the plan, but not the line fees.

So for the Directv unlimited plan, the plan was $60 and then $40 per phone, making 1 line $100 and 2nlines $140 and so on. The 21% would be only applied to the $60 portion of the bill. This would be a $12.60 in savings.

This is been based of my experiences with a FAN discount.

I pay around $150 (with my wife's 24% corporate discount) for 2 iPhones and 2 iPads sharing 30GB. We end up with 10GB rollover every month. Seems like it's not worth bothering with unlimited for me.

How is the 22gb Verizon limit calculated?
Is that limit shared by the entire single plan(i.e if one line used up 15gb the other line has 7gb left)? Or each line has separate 22gb allowance?

I don't mind all these data plans. I just wish the courts would force them to stop using the word "unlimited" unless it truly is unlimited until the customer terminated the contract.

Good Riddance ??
You forgot to close you account.
I tried to close my account once but MR wouldn't let me delete all my posts first. :p

It really comes down to how you define unlimited.

Is it not limiting you how much data you use? Yes?
Is it not limiting you how you use your data? Probably no

It's per line per month. And it' snot really an "allowance" more of a "checkpoint" more or less.

I've kept AT&T for all of these years since I switched over from Verizon so I could buy the original iPhone. I kept them for many years because I had a buddy who has since moved on who worked for them in a retail store and he would always sets aside a new device for me at launch time those years when I wanted to upgrade my phone so there was no need to wait in line on launch day and he'd always hook me up with the best deals available.

During the last few years I've kept AT&T because WiFi is so abundant that I can get by on less than 2 GB of data about 11 out of the 12 months in a calendar year. So when I've got a device paid off my bill is less than $60.00 a month and when I'm paying off a device it's about $95.00.

Can that be better under a Verizon plan? If so I'm open to switching. My wife has Verizon and gets a discount negotiated by her employer and she pays about $15.00 a month more than I do even with that discount. Do any of you have Verizon for a single line plan and have a bill less than $60.00 for at least 2GB of data?

I'd also consider T-Mobile if they had better coverage. Their coverage is great where I live but I do spend some time vacationing in areas where they don't have LTE coverage so I've been hesitant to consider them because I like the idea of always having a good LTE signal like both Verizon and AT&T are able to provide in my state.

Are they still going to increase us by 5 dollars if we keep our old unlimited?

Also can you have two unlimited lines and one regular phone line (dumb phone)

Also will my fan discount go away if i change my plan?

Because the rate plan for the line is as follows:

$60 Base rate
$40 line fee per line added.

Oh, how odd. The base price of the unlimited is cheaper then the 10gb mobile share. My 10gb base price is $80, which is what my discount applies to and then $20 for my iPhone (fully paid direct from Apple)

If 15 gigs over four lines works for you, then yeah. This is qyite literal 88 gigs of unthrottled data without tethering. Whatever is the best deal for you may not be so for everyone else. And of course, vice versa. Our family couldn't survive (we could if we had to) sharing 15GB a month anymore.

Sure you can download on wifi before you leave LOL, train the family not that hard.

I actually called ATT and asked about getting to our unlimited plan lines.... 10 GB of Tethering

that is a big thing we want.

Why Stream Saver for videos when everyone else is giving unlimited with HD video?

because they are trying to save capacity on the network. savings from HD to NTSC help carrier more than the user.

I am using the same plan, You have to add fees and tax , so you pay around $150-$160 monthly. How can you get the WIFI hotspots? Do you have to download some kind of app to do so? Thanks.
They just show up in my area

i thought you coudl turn off the stream saver option no?

I plan on doing the same thing. I spent some time on chat support a few nights ago explaining to them that I could get a better deal with unlimited data else where. I tried T Mobile but there are too many places I don't get any service, including my home. Verizon has great coverage and would be cheaper when you include the tethering. But, Verizon does not offer any discounts on their unlimited plan unless you work for the government. I currently get a 22% discount on my AT&T bill.

So the cost for AT&T vs T-Mobile for 8 lines:

AT&T: $180 4 lines + $40? per additional line (with autopay, my phones) = $340 +about $5 per line tax/fees= $380

T-Mobile: $160 4 lines + $20 per additional line (with autopay, my phones) = $240 total (+ tethering + 28GB vs 22GB throttling)

Not sure the AT&T price for the extra lines, could be $35 or $55 with autopay? Even so, still at least $100 more a month. Switching next week...

That's not my recent experience. In November, I was out of town and our home internet went down. Since I wasn't home to fix it, my kids thought it would be fine to just stream netflix and youtube on their phones all weekend. We went over our 30GB allotment and ATT charged us $15 for every GB over our bucket.
They still charge overages unless you're on one of the new Mobile Share Advantage plans.

I've been on the ATT unlimited plan since iPhone 1 on day 1. Looking forward to leaving them. They've engendered no loyalty of the years, constantly finding little ways to stick it to me. Last 2 $5 per month increases over the last year really rubbed me raw. I've been buying Verizon unlocked for a few years now waiting for this day.

Sounds like a fortunate accident. I have the same plan, but it still asks me to contact ATT to set it up. When did it start working for you?

AT&T really does charge a ridiculous amount of money for data. I expect them to be premiere and the most expensive of the bunch, but not by this outrageous margin. Hopefully this will put some much needed pressure on them.

Seriously, the amount of money per GB they charge is almost criminal, especially when you compare plans and features with the competition.
