Yea I hear you but I don’t think att would stop the deal for the 12/12 pro when those are the phones I think most will buy. They aren’t looking to make money off the phones right now just retain customers for 30 months guaranteed with this deal. We will know for sure as of Nov 6th
Yeah I agree. I think it's too soon to end the promo myself. We will see Friday what the story is.

No, they took it to an AT&T Corporate Store.
Correct - ATT doesn't care where you buy the phone. Line just needs to be on an unlimited plan and financed on the 30 month installment plan. We have something called Elite Care with ATT because we have 10 lines, and they recommended doing the trade in in person not via mail.

If you go to ATT.com there's a big blue banner headline.
Offer ends 11/05
That's not what I'm referring to. I was discussing how people were saying here that there will be a new promo for the 12/12 Pro that will change it from $800 off to $700 off starting on 11/6 (separate from the 12 Pro Max/Mini promo). I don't see any proof of that from AT&T just yet.

It’s on the Apple Store app.

I don't see what one has to do with the other?

1. AT&T Special Trade-In Offer: Monthly Price reflects net monthly payment, after application of AT&T trade-in credit up to $800 (for iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro) or up to $700 (for iPhone 12 mini or iPhone 12 Pro Max) applied over 30 months after trade-in of eligible smartphone with min. $95 trade-in value. Requires upgrade of an existing line (or activation of a new line in stores) and purchase of a new iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, or iPhone 12 Pro Max on qualifying 30 month 0% APR installment plan, subject to carrier credit qualification. If buying on the AT&T Installment Plan with Next Up, customer is responsible and will not receive any credits for an additional $5/mo. for the Next Up upgrade feature. $0 down for well-qualified customers only, or down payment may be required and depends on a variety of factors. Tax on full retail price due at sale. Requires activation on eligible unlimited plan (visit att.com/plans/wireless for details). If you cancel wireless, credits will stop and you will owe the remaining device balance. Activation/upgrade fee: $30. Must trade in eligible smartphone in good condition at a participating AT&T location within 30 days from activation of new phone. Trade-in device may not be on existing installment plan. See att.com/tradein for terms and to check if your device is eligible. Bill credits are applied as a monthly credit over the 30-month installment plan. Credits start within 3 bills. Will receive catch-up credits once credits start. Wireless line must be on an installment agreement, active, and in good standing for 30 days to qualify. Installment agreement starts when device is shipped. To get all credits, device must remain on agreement for entire term and you must keep eligible service on device for entire installment term. Limits: One trade-in per purchase and one credit per line. May not be combinable with other offers, discounts or credits. Purchase, financing, other limits and restrictions apply.

That line of the terms comes right before 'must trade in eligible smartphone device'

I am not concerned. I mean its not like I was not charged the upgrade fees, they just agreed to waive them. I highly doubt the promo is tied to the upgrade fees in any way. We added a line as well and the $30 activation mentioned above was waived automatically without me asking.

It also doesn't show that the upgrade fees were specifically 'waived', there is just a $60 credit at the bottom of the bill now.

Has anybody bought a phone like a 8 for cheap and traded it in SUCCESSFULLY? Or does it have to be your previous phone?

A credit is probably a safe route...

hmm maybe I should give it a try and see if they'll do the same. Just dont wanna blow up the deal.

Also have a FAN which I think a perk is to waive the fees.

Is there harm in doing it in a few months after the credits have safely been applied? Or is it a 'get on it quick' thing?

I have had it always waived in the past.

I think the FAN perk only applies to Activation Fees and not Upgrade Fees. I have that as well and the activation fee was automatically waived on the bill, but not the Upgrade Fees. You can see the difference below on my bill. Activation Fee is waived and a credit for the Upgrade Fees.

Thanks. Are others waiving the upgrade fee?

Also is it an upgrade or activation fee lol

Since the fine print vaguely includes both

Activation Fees are for New Lines and Upgrade Fees are for existing Lines. We added 1 new line and upgraded 2 existing lines.

I am not sure how other reps are doing it. I did not request them to do it this way so I assume this is how they normally do it.

Just a reference point for anyone around North Dallas needing to trade in... The store in 75252 doesn't know how to process the trade in but the store in 75093 does.
Wonder if one is a corporate store and one is not.

It's pretty amazing how so many AT&T store employees seem to be clueless about this promo. It's been on Apple's site since day one.

Absolutely insane, especially this long after the promo started. I could understand some launch day or even first weekend confusion, but at this point its just blatant incompetence from the store managers to train their staff.

Has anyone here used AT&T trade in by mail? If so how long did it take for them to process your trade in once they received it?
