Hmm. I thought the only caveat for the phone being traded in is that the value has to be over $95?
This is what the promo says about the trade in:
“Trade-in an eligible Smartphone in good working condition with a minimum trade-in value of $95 for $700 credit ($35 for $350 credit or $5/mo offer) within 30 days of activation”

I’m not sure if a cracked screen falls into the “good working condition” that would be a question for att.

also says this:
“Trade-in smartphone must meet AT&T Trade-In Program requirements and must the minimum trade-in value requirements when AT&T takes possession of trade-in device.”

I would think if you answered all the questions and used the trade in promo code and it stated you were receiving the “promo selected” value after that you should be fine.

Although I ordered the 256GB Graphite 12 Pro Max on AT&T at Best Buy, I got $250 for my GS10 Plus and $190 for my GS9 Plus/GS8. I have to surrender the GS10 Plus when 12 Pro Max arrives later this week.

I don’t think so. Have you already sent in the trade in phone?
Yes, turned into att directly at store. If I pay off the iPhone 12 pro, do the 30 monthly credits stop? I could just pay it off and sell it, and buy the 12 pro max outright.

That’s always an option

Could even sell it with the caveat there’s still payments to be made for a lower cost to a buyer if you really wanted to

Traded my old phone into ATT at a corporate store on 10/24 - got this text message today:

AT&T Free Msg: Buying an eligible smartphone and completing your trade-in qualifies you for bill credits towards the monthly charge of your new device. Credits are now being applied and continue as long as you maintain your agreement, stay active and in good standing. If service is cancelled, device balance is due.

Can’t 100% verify yet as I’m midway through a billing period, but will report back. I’m feeling optimistic that all is in order.

Received the same message today but my bill has also already generated without them so hoping they will begin next bill with the 1 month catch up credit.

Well, I sent mines in on Thursday, so according to UPS, it's supposed to reach AT&T on Monday, so I'll see from then.

The credits stop as soon as you pay off the iPhone. That's the whole point. The discount is for you to be locked into 30 months of service.

Me too got it this morning and traded in the phone to a corporate store launch day. Talked to a rep the other day too and he said everything is on track so I’m assuming I’m good to go

So glad I snagged a good condition unlocked 8 for $210 shipped on eBay I think the same day as my preorder. Right before the market rush

Just an update here. I talked with a rep and they confirmed that even with the crack, since the phone still came in above $95, then it qualifies for the full $700 credit. Just incase someone else might have the same question about this later on.

Had them send me that in writing just incase any issues come up later haha.

i was gonna use the wifes x for the trade but her ship date on the 12 pro is in december. so i bought a mint 8 from swappa for $175 to trade in for $700

$175? Wow good deal! have the iPhone X's generally gotten that low (around that) or did you get a 'steal' of a deal?

Got my 8 I scarified for $180+shipping, like $210 after shipping+tax and thought I made out like a bandit. Not that it matters since it was just for trading in, for same maximum credits, but
