Well I called in today with a couple of questions about my plan and asked if they could waive it...I was flatly denied. And I've been a customer since before they were AT&T! Congrats on those that got a GOOD rep! LOL
Call again to get another agent and ask for the loyalty department. Or try the appeal button on the website that some people have pointed out.

Anybody still waiting for the kit? I requested another a few days ago and nothing yet. Wondering if I should try and trade it in at a store.

You definitely should try and trade in at the store. You might have to cancel the online trade in first.

don't even bother wit their kit, just print the label and ship safely on your own. Took about 10 days for it to be delivered, and credits apply for. Stupid easy.

Never received my kit so I just went to the store to drop the old phone off yesterday. Note, if you initiate the trade-in online, the in-store CSR may not be able to accept the trade-in. I initiated the order and trade-in at the store so I was good to go.

I don’t have the option to print the label. I tried looking but it’s not there. I was going to do this the same day I received my Pro Max.

Its interesting to hear about all of the random experiences with this process. For me, i activated my new phone, nuked the old, and was in/out of an ATT corp store within 10 minutes having an electronic/paper receipt. The employee at ATT also clearly explained how it will work, 2-3 billing cycles, X$ off per month, etc. Seems i got lucky with my local store.

My experience was much the same, but given that this is ATT we're dealing with... I'll wait until the credits start showing up to do my victory dance.

I still don't understand people waiting for ATT crappy packaging, its a padded envelope. Just use your own sturdy box and print the shipping label they give you.

Sucks that they just give an envelope now. Last time I did a trade-in (circa 2016), they gave you a thick box inside of which there was a cardboard with plastic film attached that holds the phone nicely in place.

17 days total, from when they received the package to processing on credits. Good luck all...

Received my 12 Pro on 10/30, turned in iPhone X on 11/1, received my first bill yesterday which shows credits applied. New phone costing me $6.66 a month. I’ve had iPhones for 10 years and have never seen a deal like this.

Finally got my kit - paddle bubble mailer and shipping label sticker. I didn’t notice any options to print a label. Anyway, I sent it in the mailer inside the brown box the 12 came with from att. Figured that’s what most will do.

Does your tracking show progress? I was going to do the same but I was worried that the label they send isn't enough postage for a heavy box

Can someone please let me know if I’m understanding this correctly? Can my wife trade in her iPhone 8 for a free iPhone 12 mini because the phone costs $700, which is the amount of the rebate savings total? So the cost of the phone across 30 months would equal the rebate savings across 30 months so $0 or close to $0?

Do the likes on this post mean that this is correct? LOL. Dumb it down for me, folks. ;)

Yes, assuming the iPhone 8 is in good condition. If its value is below $95 after taking condition into account, I think you only get like $350. Also, still need to pay tax and activation/upgrade fee (although you might be able to get the latter waived).

Thanks! So let’s say I can get AT&T to waive the $30 activation fee, I would only be paying tax on the $700 phone so ~$60 in tax up front? If so, iPhone 8 users really hit the jackpot!

Such an incredible deal. I’m so late to the party because I thought that the actual trade in values on AT&T’s website was the rebate you would get. I didn’t realize that the trade in values were somewhat irrelevant, so long as they were above $100 in value. For my wife with her iPhone 8, this makes a TON of sense.

For me, I still have $650 to pay off on my iPhone 11 Pro so I don’t think this makes much sense unless I wanted to buy a cheap iPhone 8 for ~$225 and use that for a trade in of an iPhone 12 or 12 mini, pay the tax up front, and then buy the iPhone 11 Pro outright and hopefully sell it for the same price. Seems like a lot of hassle for a three year lock in where I can’t buy or sell it outright, and little upgrade in features from what I already have. Not worth the $285-$400 I think.
