AT&T Unlimited Data Plan - How much data do you use?

I averaged 9.5 GB a month with AT&T throttling me after reaching the 5 GB mark. Now that AT&T is supposedly relaxing its throttling policy, I speculate i'll be in the vasinity of 20-25 GB a month. Faster speeds, plus no longer needing to be on wifi most of the time, equals more data usage.

Hey!!! I think something good has happened!!! I'm at home so I don't have great LTE signal here. Just checked my speed and it's 8.69 download and 4.14 for upload. I get good LTE signal 1-2 miles away so I'll check again tomorrow. I was creeping along like an injured turtle last week. The usual throttled .5 or less. Usage for this month is at 8.9GB.

I guess the change has happened in the last few days? if so, I knew it would pay to hold onto my Unlimited plan! :)

I'm on Verizon, but last month used over 300 gigs of mobile data. No throttling, and no calls or threats. Definitely getting my $70 worth.

I'm assuming your VZW unlimited cellular plan is used as your primary home internet service? If not it boggles my mind how a person can use so much data.

Just crossed over the 50 gig mark.... Still no throttling

Wow that's a lot,,, I'm glad I didn't my plan either ,,, no more throttling

That is a lot. Boggles my mind how someone can consume that much data on an iPhone.

I'm glad I didn't give up our UDP on all our 4 lines on our family plan because of the data we use. When comparing to the Mobile Share plans it still doesn't pay for us to give up all 4 unlimited data lines.

We use data but not that much! 3 of the unlimited data lines averages about 9/10GB/month. The 1 line averages 3GB/month.

Although we have unlimited data I still try to get on WiFi as much as I can because I want to be a 'smart' consumer. I realize that if all of us with UDP just ran rampant it could bog down the network. And this could result in AT&T doing away with grandfathered UDP. It's not that I'm afraid that they will do away with UDP, I personally feel we should be more aware and get on WiFi as much as we can provided it's a safe WiFi network of course.

We live in Philly and wired cable internet is common like sliced bread. I do realize that there are people who live in rural areas that can't get wired cable so that's a different story. In spots I'm able to access Xfinity(Comcast) WiFi which is our primary home internet and when I can I get on that. As I said I realize that some aren't able to get this and a different story. When I'm at home why should I consume cellular data when wired cable internet is common like sliced bread?

Would love to know why people are consuming so much data and how the heck can someone consume let's say 30GB a month. Like I said if you DON'T have access to wired cable internet then my comment DOESN'T apply to you.

Just because AT&T has relaxed their hard throttling policy doesn't mean that I'm abandon WiFi.

100 gig and still going strong.

Just passed the 100 gig mark. Still good. No throttling. :D

Do you have home wired internet?

Do you work or just haves lot of time on your hands?
I have no wired home Internet. I do work, I just have alot of free time. I usually don't use this much data, I was just testing out to make sure there is no longer any more throttling and that we are now actually getting service that we have been paying for all along.

For the most part, yeah. I work for the DoD, so contrary to the snarky "No life" comment below, I do have quite a busy life. I just happen to move around a lot and being a bit of a tech nerd download large files and movies while on the go.

People with home internet don't realize how much data they are consuming in the USA.

Comcast home internet is notorious for their 300gb home data limit. When I lived in Georgia for 12 months. We barely streamed any movies and could be at 100gb data for the month home internet.

So I suppose those who stream movies Netflix watch ever is on can easily hit the 300gb Comcast limit.

Data is the cash cow for cellular companies right now. I don't think att is being "nice" and not throttling 24/7. I think att knows their mobile share value plans are working and 50-60% of customers are on mobile sharing plans now.

So the number on unlimited data plans is insignificant to att these days. So they would rather throw us a bone rather than incur bad public remarks from a fight with the FTC or FCC about their 24/7 throttling policy.

I also suspect att may decide to get rid of unlimited data altogether for those who want to use a subsidized upgrade (a la Verizon policy). Although there are loopholes in Verizon unlimited data policy with the subsidized upgrade.

I have Comcast at home and check my usage once in awhile. Usually between 400-500GB per month. I believe they limited customers in the past. I don't think they are now.

It's in select areas where Comcast has home internet data caps.

"This information applies only to XFINITY Internet customers in Huntsville and Mobile, Alabama; Tucson, Arizona; Atlanta, Augusta and Savannah, Georgia; Central Kentucky; Maine; Jackson, Mississippi; Knoxville, Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee; and Charleston, South Carolina who are not enrolled in the Flexible-Data Option."

I'm over the 200 gig mark....

How is everybody's throttling going lately? Has it improved ?
I'm well over the 200 gig mark....still no throttling. This is great. It is nice to have back the plan that I originally signed up for (no throttling)
