Anyone getting a 1644 error when deactivating and then reactivating in iTunes with foreign sim installed. My 3GS and wife's iPhone 4 get the unlocked message but my iPhone 4 gets the error which says iTunes cannot update carrier settings on the iPhone. AT&T and apple can't tell me if the phone is unlocked.

i got the email. idk if it got unlocked or not, how do i check? I restored and used a non active tmobile sim to activate and it worked.. but i can't check if i got signal because the sim isn't active. I notice also if you go to general<about that is says next to carrier it says :carrier 12.0 , before it used to say att :11.0 does this mean its unlocked?

3GS unlocked and working in China

I finally got my 3gs unlocked and working in China. Phone Calls, SMS, and Data are working, just need to determine mms setings for China Mobile Easyown.

Here are a few points of my experience
-Must have a sim installed, I used my China Mobile Sim
-Must be in the US, I had to use my US VPN when plugging into iTunes to get the unlock to work while I am in China
-The backup and restore can be done in advance, and the unlock will occur when you plug the phone into iTunes later. In my case when I plugged into iTunes with my China Mobile SIM
-It took a few days from my original call to ATT for the unlock to work as I tried in the US with an old ATT sim before leaving for China. It might also require that you use the non-ATT sim (I don't know for sure).

Did you contact on Sunday?

Looks like for people that in a queue( not instantly unlocked) , the emails have been sent out for customers contacted on Sunday. For our Monday customers, it should be coming soon

Just got the mail for mine as well. On ATT month to month and purchased mine as a refurb. Did the online chat on Tuesday morning.

In a non-activated iphone u cant connect and sync to itunes without at&t card or your working gevey etc... It means that if u can sync with itunes when u have simcard in your phone other than at&t "YOUR PHONE IS UNLOCKED"

To try activation just put a simcard other than at&t and connect itunes, it will activate if apple sent u unlock codes and u can sync your iphone, you dont need signal for that, just internet connection enough. Also make sure that your phone and your computer has wifi connection.

All two pages these questions asked again and again, why people so blind to see???
:confused::confused::confused::mad::mad::mad::mad:

They appear to be prioritizing people who currently have an AT&T postpaid account. I think that's fair since they are the ones paying AT&T every month.

sure sure, I just got the phone full price it took less than 72 hours I got e-mail and activated.

Yes, I had to call Sunday as I left for China on Monday. I forgot to point out that they never sent me an email. The tech support rep said should could not send it for some reason. The procedure was easy enough that she just described it over the phone. I don't think the unlock timing is related to receiving am email.

I've requested the unlock on monday afternoon, the girl told me in 48h I would get the e-mail with instructions. Nothing so far :(
It's an AT&T locked iPhone 4 bought full price at BestBuy on November 2010.

I've tried to sync with iTunes using my SIM card without gevey, but didn't work.

I put in my request last Sunday morning and I got my e-mail this morning. I'll check tonight to see if it is unlocked.

any one has case number around 38968526 and got unlocked? I called on sunday, but still not received any info or email, anyone has the situation like me?

iPhone Unlock

I put it in my request to unlock my iphone4 on the 8th as soon as this option went live and it has been 5 days now. I am still waiting to hear from them. I try to call them daily and check on the status. They say it is still under process.

Yes my case number is before that and I also called on Sunday. I am still waiting. One of my friends who called in 2 days later, got his phone unlocked already.

yay! my iPhone 4 is unlocked that I bought off of Craigslist. I didn't receive an email from AT&T I just plugged my phone to my macbook and the unlocked screen came up.
also I did not have to restore my iPhone. you can use either Sam or redsn0w to deactivate if you don't wanna lose your untether. I used Sam went into the settings or utilities and selected deactivate. then i plugged my iPhone and then inserted my tmobile sim in an bam unlocked! I did have to do a hard reset to after! no more gevey!

Hi, I've got confirmed email from ATT Service, said that my phone is eligible to unlock now. However, my iPhone is 3GS, baseband 06.15.00, iOS 5.1
If I follow instruction from the email: connect to iTunes, backup and restore. What happen next? I was told that my phone might be a brick that TinyUmbrella can't kick out or I ought to install 06.15.00 baseband again. I'm confusing now. Hope you guys help me out :)

I decided to go home for lunch to check and after doing the restore, I got the message saying that it was unlocked. This is great since I am going out of the country for a few months. :D

I had 3 iPhones unlocked on Sunday but I have successfully seen the congratulatory screen for only two of them. The third's (iPhone 3GS) IMEI was submitted before the other 2 and has been confirmed by ATT and Apple as being unlocked but each time I restore it I get an error message saying "There is no SIM card installed" and that it is required for activation. Of course, I do have a SIM installed, however, it is not an ATT SIM. The iPhone was also JB but I updated it as I didn't care for the JB anymore since I would be getting a factory unlock.

Any info on this would greatly be appreciated.

I wonder if that message that the phone is unlocked only appears once? Say you restore a second time, would the message appear again? Also, does it have to be a restore from itunes? I am now backed up completely on iCloud, how's the process on that? Or do I have to backup to itunes/pc/mac for the mean time?
