now why would you want to go and do that.back it up, sell it and then buy a new locked phone. :)

or just take advantage of AT&T new found goodwill to serve customers valiantly when they least expect it.

Guys, I'm asking because I'm afraid to get my iPhone locked again, are you getting this?

Good to hear that :)

whats good in that?

Good to hear that someone is in the same situation as mine:

Got the unlock and a few days later an e-mail saying that we were not eligible for the unlock, so it seems to be an automatic e-mail sent by at&t which we were not supposed to receive. So good to hear that you are in this situation as well because it may be just a mistake by at&t, we got the unlock an nothing must change that :)

This e-mail is sent to people who are not eligible for unlock, so I'm scared of getting my iphone locked back.

Have you understand now? :)

I'm sorry for the not great english :p

Yeah but as I (and maybe you) got the unlock in the beggining when they just start unlocking, maybe some phones not eligible were unlocked by mistake, that is my theory. HOPE NOT!! :)

i guess i'm lucky since i view in imei.info "SIM LOCK: NO", i deactivate with sam then i connect to itunes and then it show Congrats your iphone its unlocked.

Then e restore to 5.1 and still unlocked.

they change their policy because many people are leaving AT&T...thats why they are asking for wireless number insted of Imei...

congrats can you tell me on what date did u file the unlock? and are you an AT&T customer?

1.First filed request for unlock Saturday April 22nd..case number was created and my email taken, was given an eta of 72 hours

2.Waited an entire week no email, so I called back to check on case number.. different tech changed eta and told me it could take as long as 3 weeks.

3.Waited then received this email 5/4/12:

"Thank you for contacting AT&T Customer Care about unlocking your iPhone.
We are unable to complete your request at this time due to the following reason:
- No valid current or former mobile/account number associated with request."

(All the while I was checking imei.info to see if my phone was locked and up to this point it read Sim Lock:YES)

4.Was about to launch counter-attack on At&t then I received this email 13 hours ago (see my previous post)

Dear Customer:

Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding your AT&T service. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. The issue has been resolved.

Should you have any further needs regarding this issue, please do not hesitate to call us at 1 800 331-0500 and reference the tracking number shown above.

Sincerely,
AT&T

5.Checked imei.info again on a hunch....Sim Lock status changed to NO :D

No I am not or have ever been an at&t customer ..Mugen Power, I'm pretty sure you'll get your phone unlocked bro just hang in there..

Also I have to take the time out to acknowledge At&t for giving its customers (and Non-customers like me ) FREE FACTORY UNLOCKS!! Especially for those iPhone 4 users who were stuck on 4.11.08 for so long without an unlock solution, I understand your frustration..Been an iPhone faithful for about 3 years but I'm thinking if the iPhone is gonna be this hard to unlock in the future maybe I should play for the Android team..Im thinking it shouldnt be this hard just to get a phone unlocked..once you pay the price for a smartphone you should be able to do what you want with it IMO

----------

That's is not the unlock mail. Received the same email yesterday but my iPhone is still locked.

Wow, Idk whats up with that..you should keep trying though..

You just need to check imei.info to see if your phone is unlocked. Once its confirmed just connect to itunes and you should be good to go...imei.info is the key..

imei.info still showing locked:yes, did you first activate the phone via iTunes and then checked imei.info?

No...once imei.info says Sim Lock:Yes..In my experience that means the phone is still locked bro..everytime I checked the iPhone via iTunes at that status it always read "Sim card does not appear to be supported.."

yeah may be you are right! people are fed up of AT&T i think!

I just read somewhere that AT&T stopped giving unlocks to non-customers after 28 april. Don't know if this is true, but if it is, I'm screwed. I requested my unlock and they waited long enough to say that I'm not eligible.

Yeah, I got my rejection email on May 1st (original case submitted on 04/10/12).

I might refile using my gophone acct... I'm technically a ATT customer, but since ATT doesn't "officially" support iPhones on the gophone plan, I'm hesitant to tell them that. I don't have a data plan, and don't want them to force one on me...

HAs anyone successfully tried using their goPhone number to request an unlock ?

Thank you for contacting AT&T Customer Care about unlocking your iPhone.

We are unable to complete your request at this time due to the following reason(s):

• Invalid or no mobile/account associated with request.

Please click the following link for AT&T’s General Eligibility Requirements for Unlocking iPhone.

First try i got:
We are only able to obtain unlock codes for the devices AT&T has purchased directly from the manufacturers. While your device may function on the AT&T network, the code to unlock the device is only available from the service provider who sold the device. Please contact the provider's customer service support to obtain the code for your device.

Our records indicate your equipment was not an AT&T branded device originally but did indicate registered on our network. It appears the device may have already been unlocked. Please try the SIM card for the provider you are attempting to utilize.

Second try i get:
We are unable to complete your request at this time due to the following
reason:

The unlock code for this device is unavailable due to security
restrictions based on the device's history. You may want to return the
device and/or provide feedback to the seller.

I go on imei.info to check the unlock status, and i get "error".

What gives? Any ideas?

I got the unlock w or 3 weeks ago and I'm not AT&T customer... and I got the e-mail sayin that I'm not eligible... see previous posts... scaring :(
