Atomic billet aluminum Ip4 case

If nothing else, I like seeing that they're actively revamping their cases and trying different things. I would admittedly prefer to see them stop shipping out cases that they know have the potential to cause issues...but it's good to see that they're working on it, and willing to work with their customers as well.

I let Unni know I'd be happy to give it a shot. If nothing else, he's really stepping up the customer service side of things.

Yeah, I've talked to him a few times, and has always been very friendly. But I'm like you, I do have a slight issue with them still sending cases that they know have severe issues, but, then again, Element sends them like crazy and most of those still dramatically impact signal.

They are shipping me one of the delrin composite cases for delivery tomorrow. I'm hopeful to have a full review up before tomorrow night.

You about done with that review. I want to see that thing and how it performs.

I am - unfortunately the integrated microphone of a macbook clearly does not like those of us with deep voices - there are bits where I become almost unaudible. I'm seeing if there's anything I can do to clean it up some.

I will say that, if you like the vapor/atomic look, but hated the issues it brought this seems to be performing vastly better so far.

good to see that delrin is doing well for reception

does the use of delrin instead of aluminum for the majority of the case mean that the cost of the case will change?

That I don't know - but will find out. I do know they're producing it in both matte black and white :)

alright, cool! I'd go for the matte black. I still wish they made an ACTUAL carbon fiber solid back, but oh well. The way you showed it in your video, the CF back sticker wasnt flimsy.

forgot to say: thanks for the review!!! I could hear you the entire way, just had to turn my laptop speakers up a little ;)

I think that was the purpose of them making the second gen cases and the new cases made from the composite material. If they didn't care I don't think they would be trying to fix their products or create better ones. That's just my thoughts. I am sure its not cheap to do a redesign or come out with a case that is a completely different material. So in my eyes they seem to be trying atleast, that's more than you can say about some case vendors.
I'm new here, and wanted to post my thoughts on the Atomic Iphone case.
First off I purchased 2 and my friend did as well. They had promised twice by phone call and once by email, discounts for both of us since my friend had recommended Atomic. Well its been 3 weeks and haven't heard a word or received credit to our accounts. I mentioned the reception issue also and still no response. I would like to say that when I received my cases, there were scratches and that the anodizing was wearing off within one day. In researching Atomic, I find most comments are negative and concur with my experiences as well. In short, I absolutely would not recommend Atomic as a vendor of the Iphone aluminum case. Supposedly there is a fix or second generation case, but customer support after the sale doesn't seem to be a priority with Atomic Industries. Buyer be very aware!!

Sorry to hear you're having trouble - I actually found their post-purchase support to be above and beyond what I expected (though I will admit I initially did have a hard time getting a response from them). I too had a very poor experience with my first case, but that's how I wound up with the composite one. I was certainly willing to give it a try, and so far it seems to be good as far as reception and GPS go (I used the GPS just a few minutes ago out of curiosity to test, and it picked up right where I was, no issue).

After I received the extra parts and the internal decals for insulation, it works well and the quality is good. Satisfied with Atomic.

I would be willing to give this new hybrid case a chance. Let's see how good atomic's customer service really is I have bashed them pretty good but I will be happy to eat my words if they would exchange it for me.

I should mention that the hybrid has not been released yet - this was a pre-release thing...pricing and whatnot are apparently still under discussion, but they're expecting that the hybrid may be slightly more, as the manufacturing process for the delrin/graphite components is more costly apparently.

from your review and the comments here on MR, i thought that one whole piece was made of delrin, and that the other smaller piece was made of aluminum. I emailed them, and was corrected. The entire thing is aluminum, except for delrin lining on the inside.

Just wanted to clear that up, for anyone else who thought incorrectly as I did.

That is not correct for the case that I've reviewed today. The case that I was sent is not the aluminum case currently available through their website. As you could plainly see from my review, the "3/4" piece is certainly not aluminum - it is a flexible plastic material, a delrin-graphite mixture. Only the 4th side is aluminum, this is very clear since it is unbendable (where the rest of the case is flexible).

My guess is that Unni was telling you about the fix they've developed for the all aluminum case, which is the only one they are currently selling: from what I've been told it's some sort of isolator liner - that I haven't seen.

this is the insulator liner I received from them last week. It is die cut inserts made of what feels like black pinstripe tape. Fits well, but does not make too much diff from the red pinstipe tape I was using:

Clarification from Unni:
The frame I reviewed is the composite. The cap is aluminum. The delrin composite frame is not going to replace the currently available aluminum case - it is going to be sold in addition to it - hope that helps to clarify. The delrin piece contains absolutel zero metal, which is what prevents there from being any reception interference.

Mine is supposed to be shipping on Tuesday do you guys think it will be included?

Think what will be included??

Thx to the above for responding. But I'm sorry, their cases are inferior and I'll be damn if I'm gonna waste time in afixing their so called fix it decals. I expect a refund for my initial costs for products and shipping. At this point in time after 3 weeks of being left in the dark, I'll assume they blew me off. Think about it, I receive scratched cases that provide zero signal, the anodizing wears off the first day, and no replies for assistance from ATOMIC INDUSTRIES...totally frustrated here!!!

Im sorry but anodizing wearing off ? yeah ok. You should contact them and stop whining.

wow im getting confused now

so this is what i understand so far. there will be 2 options:
1. All aluminum with the rubber pinstripe liner inside it
2. Composite case: Delrin + Aluminum cap

I was hoping there'd be something like an all aluminum outside with thin delrin running along the inside. I guess it doesnt matter that much, but then this isnt what many of us have been waiting for: an all aluminum outside bumper. Delrin is fine, but I dont think it gives the same aesthetic effect as anodized aluminum.
Just my 2c
