My Black/Gunmetal Atomic just became a black/blue atomic vapor and no strip Thanks glen and the gap is gone

They gave me some insight on the caps colors and I don't know if they will mass produce them but they are awesome. If they produce them, they will blow you guys away. I am not going to say what they were because I don't want to get anyone's hopes up but they weren't just colors if you know what I mean!!!
Considering what they are made out of I don't think they will be cheap but I honestly have no idea. There were 4 different ones and I can only imagine what it costs to have them made. It kinda sounded like they didn't know if they were going to mass produce them incase people didn't buy them because of the price but I can promise you that there is at least 2 I would buy. But no price was ever mentioned.
I doubt they'd be that cheap. All the other aluminum case makers already sell their individual components for equal to or more than that, and they aren't made from or plated with precious metals/expensive components (if ufcfighter is talking about the same materials that Unni from Atomic has mentioned to me as well). For regular aluminum caps, yes, maybe around $30. But for the ones ufc is referencing, probably double that.
Exactly, I know which one glen is talking about and its not that one. Chris you must know of the same ones and there is no way those would go for 30. More than likely double that so that's why I don't know if they will even produce them. I wish they would but I kinda doubt it, that would drive the price of the case up alot. But I could be wrong, who knows.
are you saying the cap supplied with the hybrid is diff than the one that is supplied with the std atomic alum case? I can't see a difference at all....
No those caps are identical, those i am talking about are made from a different, very expensive material. If they are ever offered, I am sure they will be sold by themselves but I dont know. They may never release them.

After about a week, I finally got the order. Fedex ground is super slow. Anyway, a little background on my phone:
-Lucky Labs White Gloss Spectra Wrap
-Powersupport Crystal Front/Back
-IResq White iPhone 4 back (diffuser)
-Atomic iPhone Case
I give this case a solid 9/10. The reception issues are pretty much nonexistent and the case fits relatively well if you play around with it. It does take some tinkering to get it to fit "right" in my case here... when I first put it on, the edges weren't even and the delrin portion flexed (bowed out) when tightening the bolts, causing the antenna to be exposed and also leaving a pocket near the center of the delrin piece that you can actually press in. This proved to be quite annoying and at this point I was not really happy with it.
My tip is to loosen the bolts, realign everything, and pull the bottom of the delrin piece downward while tightening the bolts *just enough*. If done correctly, the bowing will be gone and the flex of the delrin piece is minimized. Also, when I first opened it, the delrin's Atomic engraving had some weird red residue left on it. I had to use iKlear disposable wipes to really rub it out. The buttons also work very well. I was a little skeptical about the flush power button at first but it is indeed very responsive. It is a TAD hard to get to the volume buttons but it's still much much better than the scosche bandedge's hard rubber buttons I had on before.
Here are the pics... I like it very much.... especially with the panda/oreo iPhone:
I apologize for the quality of the pics... Only have my old 3GS on hand at the moment. It does get the point across well I think. One thing to note is the white delrin really fits the Lucky Labs white spectra wrap. Makes it almost look like the delrin piece was molded onto the phone... as if the wrap was part of the delrin. Really cool. I'm considering pulling off the white and trying the red inside... might give it another dimension of color. Anyway, Enjoy!

That is one hot set up. Red might look gorgeous around the volume and earphone cut outs. Can't wait to get ours... now its a one to two week lag before they ship out

Some good advice.
I had a very small bow as you mentioned and found if I loosened the screws and then tightened them back down to the point where the pieces became flush with each other and left it at that, the bow and gap went away.
I'm guessing that the micro-fine print instructions on the packaging saying to 'not over tighten screws' is there for a reason.
Hot pink and black hybrid
heres a few pics of the hot pink and black hybrid. I'm sorry about the lighting it really does not show how nice this color looks, Looks more Red in these pics. I will try and get some better ones. Also note my 2 year old introduced this cover and phone to my tile floor last night and there is not a mark on the case(or phone)

The best way I have found to install these cases evenly is to put start a one in the top right and then go to the bottom left and then bottom right and then top left and then everything pulls down evenly. I have two cases and both of mine are gap less.
Damn I want one of those back pieces!! It does look red in those pics, but it's still a color I haven't seen and it looks pretty good. I dropped mine onto carpet and it didn't damage it either so this case is alot stronger than I thought or was given it credit of being, especially if yours hit tile because it really doesn't get much harder than that. I probably shouldn't be posting this, but I have got several requests to see the caps I mentioned earlier. I have no idea if these will ever be made into production because of the price involved in manufacturing them. One is Copper plated, Nickel plated, Chrome and Teal. They said they only made a few of each one and they are not for sale, or at least at this point. I wish they would sell them but the price of the case would probably go up tremendously since they are actually made from real copper, chrome plating is expensive and nickel plating tarnishes as does copper so that is another reason I don't know if they will produce them. I don't think they want to put out a product that requires cleaning like the Nickel Vapor does. But I hope they offer at least the chrome or the Nickel but I guess time will tell. So please don't bombard them with emails about these caps because like I said, I don't even know if they will be made available to sell and I don't even think I was supposed to show this picture to anyone but alot of people have been wanting to see what I was talking about. But the finish on them looks fantastic from what I can tell. And if they do make them into production pieces, they might sell them individually so it doesn't drive the price of the case up, these caps may be an additional option. Again, I have no clue as to what their plan is and maybe these will never see the light of day but if this is what they are already planning, I think alot of goods things will keep coming down the pipeline from them.

I saw the copper, nickel, and chrome, but didn't know about the teal. If they wanted to sell these, it'd probably be better to sell them as components, like you said, to keep cost down. That way people who've already bought the others (standard aluminum...bless their hearts! lol, and the hybrid) could add to theirs without buying a new case. Or could mix and match at the initial purchase, if they are making a first purchase.
I agree, but like I said. I have no idea if these will ever be released to sell because of the price. Who knows, I hope they do. I think they would sell quite well if they could somehow keep cost down to a reasonable price but producing the copper is probably expensive in just the material itself and chrome plating is expensive too. I guess we will see how it all plays out.
Oh, they will for sure sell just caps. I am not sure if it will be these fancy ones though, but they will your standard colors.Man I hope they will one day sell just the caps. Would love to be able to switch things up
FedEx dropped off the black/brushed a little while ago and honestly I'm not a big fan. First off, there was none of the packaging that other people have been getting. Instead, the case and bag of screws with wrench were inside a bubble envelope and that was inside the padded envelope used for mailing. And there was a sheet of paper apologizing for the lack of packaging because they were re-doing it for retail stores...
As for the case itself, just about the only thing I like over the Vapor is that the headphone jack works better. Three of the four screws went in easily and there is one that takes more effort (not a tremendous amount, just more than the other three) so I'm not sure what's up with that. And one of the other things I was expecting better results from was the GPS. The Vapor will lock on right away and granted it dumps me one street over but the Atomic is just all over the place. It will start near my house and then move up and down my street before settling at my neighbor's house. This whole process takes 3 or 4 minutes which I find just ridiculous.
All in all I think this case might be going back unless something magically changes in the next day or so.

I wouldn't mind seeing more Black/Gunmetal, gunmetal is one of those colors that can be misrepresented (by accident of course) due to the lighting situations, feel free to post up

That is odd.
I have tried both Navigon and Motion X GPS inside the house and Navigon takes it's usual 5-10 seconds and Motion X is near instant spot on.
