Received my "new and improved" case

Received the case that eliminates the gap between the case and metal and it does indeed perform as promised: as long as you use the cap piece designed for it. I have the black/brushed and it looks great - fits very well, and it seems that the delrin/graphite bit doesn't have as much "flex" as the old one did. Overall very satisfied :)

It overall just feels more substantial than the old one did somehow - I think the del/graph may be just a hair thicker or something...not sure, but I'm even happier with the feel of it then I was before.

Definitely a keeper!

can you describe the differences A to B? pictures or video if possible, please.

do you know if all new orders will now be filled with this revised model?

Honestly pictures wont help - they are virtually identical side by side. The only difference is that the "cap" piece lines up perfectly with the delrin piece - it's not offset at all so there's no gap in the case.

It really surprises me that more people dont get this case. It performs awesome with signals (no drop) it looks awesome and is the same price as the other aluminum bumpers, but performs way better because it is a hybrid.

I guess its just personal preference.

Also anyone got some pictures of the Black/Blue case. I haven't seen one of those yet.

Well I can tell you that after using it for a week, I didn't like it at all. Granted it performed great, but the fact that the 2 pieces don't fit together perfectly causing a sharp edge was really annoying. The case also bowed on the side allowing an unsightly gap on the frame side.

Also, the actual sides of the case were pretty sharp and to me wasn't comfortable to hold for more that a couple of minutes. When I would try to play a game horizontally (at the time I used the case I was addicted to Archetype) the case dug into my hands and actually started to hurt.

While the Element case has the same basic shape, the edges on it are smooth and the actual case just fits the phone better. True it does have reception problems (luckily, I for some reason was able to avoid these) but the Atomic case isn't perfect. Again, I give them full credit where credit is due since the case does work. A little better/smoother design to make it more comfortable to hold then I would be its biggest supporter.

I received my black and silver last night. There is no bowing nor any gap, and the two parts fits flush that couple people pointed out earlier in the thread. As far as the lines, if you do not like the lines of the Atomic, I guess you don't like the lines of the iphone 4. Its like parallel. I got the silver brushed, and the brushing looks sweet. I do not game so I cant comment on gaming grip or such, but it just feels perfect on the hand. Best of all, instant gps!

I agree on almost everything you said. Case performed great for me. One of the first cases I received did bow slightly but they replaced it so that became a non-issue. In terms of the overall feel of the sides and whatnot, they were slightly sharp but that didn't bother me. What really bothered me was the sharp edges on the bottom of the case (which the Atomic shares with the Vapor). The bottom would constantly dig into my fingers and that's what put me off most.

I have no problem with the lines of the case and I love my iPhone 4. This is the first phone I have used for more than a month without swapping it for something else. Going on 8 months and I have zero interest in getting rid of it.

The case itself looks great, hence the reason I ordered it in the first place. I actually paid for this case. I have a huge rubbermaid tote full of cases that I got for free. I have only bought like 4 or 5 total cases out of the massive amount I have. I probably have 30 or 40. I've actually given away a lot more though. Not sure of the exact total of cases that I have tried or have had.

The issue I have is that it isn't very comfortable to hold for me. The way the case extends off the phone and the edges are physically sharp. It is just not very comfortable to hold so I went back to my Candyshell which is my favorite case. Oddly, the Candyshell looks just like a slightly bigger version of the iPhone 4 itself so obviously I have no issue with the actual shape and dimensions of the phone proper. Same reason I also like the Element case.

If a case isn't comfortable to hold or use, then I don't use it and it goes in the bin with the rest of my cases no matter how cool it may be.

Concerning the gaps between the iPhone and the Case i've heared Atomic has corrected that issuse and the comments above confirm this.

As regards the shape I hope they smoothed it out also with the new version. Mine will be coming this or next week. So I'll update on this..

They definitely fixed the gap and fitment issues they had earlier, but I think its still cut sharp in design. But their new full body hybrid case which i was lucky enough to see is just sick!

any link to pics/info on this "full body" case ? I have 2 of the atomic hybrids and love them, the only thing I miss is an integrated cover for the back plate :)
