I had issues with AT&T last year, which led to my decision of dealing exclusively with Apple. AT&Ts verification system experienced a glitch early during the preordering frenzy, which caused me to reserve a unit for my wife. We're both scheduled to receive our devices by 11/3 though.
I hear ya man. I don’t deal with att when I buy my iPhones I always buy the from Apple straight. The problem with att this year is their verification. It’s hellish... I’m going to call them.

I tried to order from ATT last year and has the same verification issues and late delivery.

But realistically what is dumping your own time calling everyone under the sun going to get? Apple cant build you a phone faster they dont have built yet to ship it faster or take one away from someone else.

It just sounds like a big waste of time knowing how the responses will go from a realistic standpoint.

I think I’m looking at it more as more of the principle. Apple should’ve kept the promise of my 11/3 pick up from the time I ordered it andddd Att should’ve gotten their verification system ready for this preorder. Seems to me that someone really screwed up with the ordering logistics. You see these businesses doesn’t care for you, all they care for is your money. Stick it right back to them.

Apple- website is down and App Store was down until 3:10am... at that point everyone else already placed their order and delivery slipped to 2 weeks.
ATT- carrier verification failed million times!!! It keeps giving me Error Failed when it came to entering my account info.
ATT/Apple- when I finally got thru the order, I originally got 11/3 release day pick up but I received a “reserved your iPhone” message and I ended up losing my 11/3 pickup and they gave me 2-3 weeks 11/17-24 delivery.

Maybe your buy was not meant to be, do yourself a favor buy the 8

The Carrier stores seem to overpromise and under deliver. AT&T site was showing 11/3 delivery an hour after pre orders went live. No way that's true. Going to be many mad customers when dates start slipping. Has happened before with AT&T. Buying directly from Apple, at least you can count on the delivery date given when you order.

No the services were definitely up at 3:01 EDT / 12:01 PDT, just your requests were too latent and someone else beat you to the origin.

I agree, I don't plan to preorder from AT&T again after the 7 Plus issue I experienced.

the website is not down if apple is still selling millions of phones while you’re still waiting.
the app is not down if apple is still selling millions of phones to others.

if the website and app are down, that means NOBODY is getting anything..

that is not what happened. there were more people trying to get through the door than could fit through the door at once. that is all. it’s not a conspiracy. it’s just what happens when demand exceeds the limitations of the technology. it’s not personal and it’s not discriminatory.

I have the 8 plus

It wasn’t working in my iPhone, iPad and MacBook... MacBook was the first one that worked nd that was 3:09

leaning more now to ATT, they screwed up big time in the preorder processed causing people to miss the release date 11/3. In my case, miss the 11/3 delivery and lose my 11/3 local Apple store pickup. I do this every launch and I can say I know all the tricks of the trade pretty much at this point. But everything went wrong this preorder time, I’m so pissed and annoyed.

I called Apple yesterday ang obviously you wouldn’t get thru cuz Apple agents are unavailable and phone will drop. How convenient. So after several attempts I got thru and waited for an hour on hold. Manager apologized and expedited my order to a “whopping 2 days faster!”, and a case. I mean I’m mad AF still but it’s something. Now on to call ATT...

You are competing with millions of ppl that are trying to buy the same phone. The servers will be overloaded, and errors will occur. You lost out to someone else who was able to get in with no issues. It happens.

They should know better, it’s called business preparedness. Are they just going to collect your money?

It’s a disgrace knowing ATT as big as they are can not compensate for what orderinG logistics is about to take place. They dropped the ball, they should’ve BEEN READY. UGH

You should know better. It was luck of the draw. They can only let so many users on at once. Others got on before you and were able to snag 11/3 delivery. You were just unlucky. That's all there is too it. No one owes you anything.
Have to argue with you there. They obviously sized the Inktomi caching farm large enough to keep giving us their "We have something..." page until we finally got in. Why couldn't they roll up enough capacity on demand servers to accommodate the number of ordering sessions instead?

Really no excuse. They certainly have the funds to afford a better customer experience.

Don't want the entire world hitting your infrastructure at once? Segment the launch by country, varying time zones as you go around the world (so, hey, people don't even need to stay up into the wee hours).

Lots of ways Apple could do this that would be more accommodating of their customers....they just choose not to.

Really? what do you want ATT to give you as compensation? I'm really curious.

RIGHT, thank you. It’s interesting how some people just take it. There’s obviously a logistic problem during the preorder time. Who gives you a reservation receipt and turns around and lie to u and give you a later date than what was ordered. I mean 10 minutes down... seriously???

If I find and get one I won’t share to you since it disinterest u.

I think Apple's looking at it from a standpoint of "Why should we bother? We're going to get your orders anyways. Why should we increase the level of service?" Unless they can see a return on investment, why bother?

It's like them saying they're going to have a lot more product available for walk-ins this year (meanwhile, Angela was trying to get rid of the lines, as that isn't a good customer experience).

It's all about buzz. People not getting their devices for launch day and being vocal about it, generates buzz. Long lineups forming outside of the Apple stores on the 3rd....more buzz.

So odd. My girlfriend had to force quit the Apple Store app until around 3:10. Her billing zip code and SS number were incorrect and had to re-enter the correct information. At checkout, the shipping information was incorrect and had to provide the correct address. She also had to provide her credit card's security code. Taking a look at her inbox I see that she received a confirmation e-mail at 3:16. Despite all the fuddling, she got a 11/3 delivery date.

I finished mine at 3:03, and my delivery date was 11/10.

I didn’t say it disinterests me. I actually said I was curious what you wanted AT&T to give you as compensation. Sorry if that makes you mad also.

Should these company’s spend a few million upgrading servers and hire more people for one day of crazy ordering just so you can have a phone?
Everyone who stays up to buy one the second it’s open knows there are a million other people doing the same and there is always a chance of delay.
Sit back and relax and wait for your phone

This will be my first iPhone. It was my first pre-ordering experience and it was HORRIBLE! At&t site took forever for me to get a chance and once I got it the page kept giving me and error and wouldn't let me continue with the process. So got fed up and went to apple site. I was able to secure one for me and my wife ..... But we have a December 5-10 delivery date. Will never go through pre-ordering another phone. Not worth it to me. I only did this because it was my first iPhone.

Why should I have to go through carrier verification when Im buying outright anyway?

You just asked the most beautiful, fundamental question.

Dear Apple, I know you care deeply about reducing friction points in your customers experience.
Please consider this question.
