ATT iPhone 5 Pre-order thread

As a point of reference for people, this is what happened in 2010 when I pre-ordered my iPhone 4:

06/17/2010 - Placed pre-order for iPhone 4 w/ AT&T @ 3:05am EDT
06/17/2010 - No immediate confirmation so I reserved an iPhone 4 at local Apple Store
06/17/2010 - AT&T confirms my pre-order, confirmation arrived at 3:53am EDT
06/21/2010 - AT&T sends me CSS survey email, "Let's Talk About Your New iPhone" email
06/22/2010 (WEDNESDAY) My iPhone 4 ships
06/23/2010 (THURSDAY) My iPhone 4 arrives
06/24/2010 (FRIDAY) I strut around Apple Store lines waving around the iPhone 4

Exact same thing for me except mine is still back ordered. when did yours change?
 
After reading numerous posts, it seems that many iPhone orders are about to ship. Mine still says "processing". Jesus Christ I am pissed, I pay what $335 a month and that's after a 25% discount. This is the sh** I get to put up with? I would like to know the status is all, if I will receive it this week, or in 3 weeks. I would call AT&T but those retards couldn't find their ***** with both hands. How would they ever find out how to check the status of an order?? On top of all of this, I still have the "Cancel Preorder" button. They really want me to cancel I guess.

I bet your grateful to all those people who are canceling!!! Maybe that's how you got yours since you ordered after the cut-off (or the 'so called' cut-off)

Yep, all three. However, today only the 32gb black order showed up on my CC. Yet again there was a total $700 charge on my card earlier before but I believe it was just an authorization check. On top of this I'm a brand new customer porting from T-Mobile.

ATT: Once it is actually shipped you will receive an email with the tracking number and any other information you will need.
ME: ok thanks i just have one more question do you ship UPS or Fedex?
ATT: It is both. Unfortunately I will not be able to give you which one yours will be shipped by at this time.

Have you tried checking your order status through this link yet? It's different from the one with the "cancel preorder" button.

I placed my order on the 14th, which is what the order status shows on the Premier web site. The regular ATT order status web page shows the order date of today (18th)!

Here's my theory...

Since my credit card was just charged today, I suspect the regular ATT order status page is pulling the "order date" off the last time the order was updated.

It means the tracking number will be provided once the order ships.

Doesn't really answer anything. But at least they were honest and said they didn't know when yours would come in, and that you would have to wait for the email.

Mine has. Ordered on the 14 at 6:00 am thru premier. It showed in AT&T website ordered on the 15. Today it change from 1 to 0 in qty backordered. White 32!!!
 
Mine still showing pending, as I expected. I completed my order at 3:19 AM through the regular AT&T site. Order shows 9/14 order date, and has never shown backordered, so I'm sure it will come Friday. My 4S last year didn't ship until Wednesday, I believe...I expect the same this year.

I also hope that like last year, my phone isn't delivered to my house until late. I got my 4S around 7PM last year, and while I hope I get it earlier than that, I hope it's not too much earlier, as I won't be home at all in the morning, nor for part of the mid-afternoon, so if it comes when I'm gone, I probably won't get it until Monday, as I believe UPS won't let me pick it up from them on a Saturday (though if it comes FedEx, I have no idea when it would come...though FedEx has usually been better about picking up a missed delivery after hours or on a Saturday.)

There are 2 places to check your order. This is where you can see if your phone is on backorder:

https://www.wireless.att.com/order_status/

This is what you've probably been looking at all along:

http://www.att.com/wirelessorderstatus

If your status is showing In Progress or Processing you are in the same boat with everyone else. If your Backorder qty. is showing 0 then the general consensus is that you're in good shape.

We've yet to see any legitimate proof that our phones have received any type of tracking # for shipment.

BTW I only received a confirmation email, nothing else.

It's different for me from the initial email link I received when I placed my order.

The first email I have takes me to a Premier status page with the ability to still cancel the preorder. This second one tells me I'm not backordered and that's the key right now in this stage of the game.

Thanks! I've been using "My orders" to see if it shipped but this has a different result. Sadly, mine does say the status is in progress and that it is pending shipment. Hope it comes Friday, but I'm not expecting it to

All of ours say those two things.

What is probably the most important, and telling, is if there is a "1" or not under backorder.
 
Another sobering update.. if certain iPhones have shipped and yours hasn't, it's probably because they have farther to go to reach their destination by launch day. Everyone's iPhone that has been confirmed for 9/21 will receive them on that day or a day before if history is any indication.

In 2010 my iPhone 4 didn't ship until 5pm Wednesday 06/22/2010 and arrived at my house on Thursday 06/23/2010 before noon. I spent the entire day/night before launch day with it and on launch day I showed people in Apple Store lines.

I read accounts that a lot of Apple and AT&T orders arrived a day early. So, just sit tight :)
