I ordered a black 64 gig iphone 5 at 12:22am pacific time on the regular AT&T wireless website for iphone pre orders. I received a confirmation email right away with this first sentence "Your iPhone 5 will be delivered on 9/21/12. All orders are processed on a first-come, first-served basis."

I received a 2nd "order processed" email 10 minutes after that at 12:33am with the sentence "We have processed your order and it has been sent to our warehouse for shipment."

The current status on the AT&T website is:

1 Various SIM In Progress
1 0 1 Pending Shipment
2 Apple PHO IPHONE 5 64GB BLK PHONE In Progress
1 0 1 Pending Shipment

Status Explanations

In Progress: Our warehouse is still processing this item for shipment.

Canceled: This item has been canceled and will not be shipped.

Partially Shipped: Some of the items have shipped. If an item is on backorder, an amount will appear in the Qty Backordered column.

Shipped: Our warehouse has shipped this item.

Who knows whats going on... I tried calling but got ticked off going through the phone menu. It kept telling me to call the same 800 number I was already dialing. :confused:

For premier orders, has anyone tried going to the link for the order status that is within the order confirmation email?

I've noticed that if you go to that URL with your iPhone, that page looks different and says something else:



Anyone else see this?

EDIT: Actually, when you go to that link on a computer, for me it does show in a notice at the top (blue background):

So I preorder from the AT&T store at 9:20 pacific time, since there was a p1234 error online, the sales rep told me that the phone will be delivered on 9/21, but recently I have received and email that it will ship in 14-21 business days, WTF is anyone having this issue?

Honestly, I'd trust the email/system more than the rep.

if you ordered it at 9:20am today, having a 14-21 business day shipping estimate kind of makes sense.

Did AT&T get rid of the $5 200 text plan? I was hoping to be grandfathered in, like with the $30 unlimited data plan. I'm not seeing it as an option on their pre-order page.
 
I just got off the live chat with a rep. For what it's worth, he made it clear that:

"Orders placed before 9am Pacific on 9/14/12 will ship by 9/21/12. Orders placed after this time will ship in 14-21 business days.."

I placed my order at 3am pacific, and my card was charged at 6am, so I imagine I'll be good.

He did say, however, that the orders are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis. This explains why the order status page still says "Processing" for me. However, given that I placed the order before the cutoff time (9am pacific), I should be good (and anyone else in a similar situation).

He was offering to check the status himself, but when he discovered that I was a Premier member he said he was unable to view information regarding Premier members, and gave me the following phone number of the department which was capable of doing so:

"You may reach one of our Product Specialists on 866-499-8008, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Central Time."

So instead I simply asked if this cutoff applied to all orders/customers, and the rep said indeed it applies to everyone, including Premier members.

Hope that helps some of you rest easy. Not much else we can do from now anyways.

This sucks, I asked the sales rep to double check and he showed me on his screen that the delivery was expected still 9/21, also my debit card was immediately charged, this is is so frustrating because I sold my 4s so I'll be without a phone fora while!

I ordered on the phone through premier at 9:45am ET, got and accepted the T&C immediately after that, and nothing happened until just now. I received an email from AT&T saying my order should be shipped in 14-21 business days, and my order status is still processing. Kind of frustrated since I ordered earlier than a lot of people, and while they get the Sept 21 delivery date, I'm stuck with the delayed shipment.

Hopefully that is true, I got off the phone with customer service at around 10:20 AM CST and I got an email at 2 PM and it stated I would get the phone in the next 14 to 21 business days. I find it weird that the charges already showed up on my account, hopefully I'm surprised next week.

People lived without cellphones for 200,000 years, I think you can live a week without it.
 
Orders placed at 9:45 and 9:50 EST through Premier are still pending via email link, not showing up on account under orders, and no charge to credit card. I haven't gotten any texts, but did get two order confirmations right after I placed them. I'm not too fussed about it. It's a phone. If I don't get it the first week, I'll get it later.
 
I have a business account so I had to go through an actual brick and mortar store when they opened this morning at 10am, pacific time. By then all orders had slipped to 2-3 weeks. :mad: The rep told me that he's been there for the last four iPhone launches and that most people who preorder get them on or before launch day, regardless of what the shipping estimate shows. He said he'd be surprised if it took longer than a couple days after launch to receive my phone. Thoughts?

I hope that's true. I ordered at 5:30 AM EST. However, I still haven't received a confirmation email nor has my CC been charged. It's now about 15.5 hours after I ordered.

I have the same attitude. I wasn't staying up until 3am and I wasn't sure if I wanted 1 or 2 phones when I got up this morning. I decided I am getting 2 and I am not stressing about ordering now instead of 3am. A week will go by fast if I actually have to wait that long. I swear....Apple has me wrapped around their little finger :roll eyes:

There are only a few electronic devices I don't mind spending my hard earned money on....Apple products and my TiVo units. Great products deserve my money ;)
 
Well, I cancelled my order and will have to take my chances next Friday.

After waiting all day I was finally told that my credit card billing address (my home) and ATT billing address (my office) don't match so they can't process the order. I don't have a single credit card that uses my office address so there is no way to complete the order and, besides, it would be in the system for the time I gave the card not when I ordered so I would get it in 21 days.

The CSR told me that I could order any other phone or device and use the card with no problems but not an iPhone. They say that is Apple's policy.

I'm going to be heading to the most out of the way ATT store I can find next Friday. Probably the same place my brother has gone for the last two iPhones. In both cases he was able to just walk-in and walk out with a phone. It's just a haul for me.
 
I have an AT&T premier account. What is weird is the website shows that i added a new line, it shows my new number. It shows a sim and white iphone 5 that is processing. But when i call the number i found a few pages back, it tells me that my item is backordered. :confused:

EDITED: I placed my order around 3 or 4 am central time.
 
The automated system will indicate that all orders are "backordered" at this point. Don't Panic and keep reading.

This is the same thing as for the iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S and there is a very simple reason. AT&T has not received thier "carrier" shipments from Apple. They will be receiving bulk shipments from Apple at their distribution hubs, these bulk shipments will be broken down to fill your individual AT&T pre-orders. :D

I wish I knew. Mine is still just "Pending." Ordered from Premier around 5am PST.

Premier support keeps telling me that order status won't be available until 24-48 hours after placing the order. Which seems odd, because the order status page is clearly showing "pending," and I only have a $1 authorization on my credit card.

Same here. Ordered around 5am PST and the only indications of the order were the email about it receiving as early as the 21st and a $1 charge to my card. I hope it isn't cancelled. BTW I ordered a 32gb black
 
Mine says "Preorder Processing", and has a "Cancel Preorder" button underneath.

Can I assume this means that absolutely nothing has happened with my order yet?

Ordered at 7am PDT on the dot. (on premier account) <- which i don't understand either
 
What is preorder processing?

I already see charge of $214.99 in my bank account.
