Signed up to post my travels with the ATT ordering process. Ordered through ATT on Friday 9/14 at 645am cst. Received confirmation email from Premier saying my phone was reserved for Sept. 21st. 9/15 I got a call from my credit card company on possible fraud charges from a phone company. It was ATT trying to charge for my phone. I approved it of course. As of now, both lookup screens show me ordering on 9/15 instead of 9/14, my credit card has a "pending transaction" for the full amount and I have no clue what Premier is because I've never used it or never heard of it for that matter. I can hope to get it Friday but won't be holding my breath.

Judging by the time of order and shipping status in this thread, it looks like just like with the backorder, AT&T doesn't really have a First come, first served exactly. But that means, everyone with backorder 0 will be shipped eventually, just not in the order. 
EDIT: Another thing is, I think with another batch update, a lot of people will have their shipping/tracking info up just like AT&T did with the backorder yesterday evening. Times like this you realize computing speed can never be sufficient

Ordered 64GB Black at 5:41am PT via Premier online.
Received email with "as soon as" 9/21 email right after that.
Status as of this morning is "pending shipment" "backordered" and "in progress"
Received an email update last night that it was still scheduled to ship "as soon as 9/21"
Charge on my Amex is still pending. Was put there on 9/14, still there.
We shall see!

I wish I can find out which one they are using to ship mine Fedex or UPS cause I wont be home the time they will deliver it hope to get a tracking soon so I can call them old it at there office.

i keep trying that trick to "track my order" from UPS or FedEx but it doesnt work...
so I enter my phone number int he reference line (ex: 305-------), then chose United States, then my Zip Code... and I get nothing.
I did the same on FedEx website. nothing. int he meantime everyone is starting to get tracking numbers and shipping confirmations and mine:

Same here. This is a good sign.
Don't freak out people! FedEx will ship next day, so it's not uncommon for the tracking number to go out Wednesday or Thursday.
One thing looks pretty certain, today is the day that people find out if they are getting the phone Friday. Seems like everyone that ordered in that time frame has "shipped" showing on the order status.
Win! It was updated this morning to Shipped. No tracking yet.
I ordered at 7:15am Friday morning and it was updated this morning with a "shipped" status. Hopefully that will give you a good timeline when your status might change to shipped.
I opt'd for the white version this year. I had a black 3G and 4. I finally color swapped my iphone 4 to blue and love it. I just wanted to try something different this time around. If i don't like the white, I'll color swap it to chrome blue in a few months.

Are you able to log in to premier to check it? Most of these screen caps look vastly different than mine. I wonder if premier has information I am not privy to.
Jeez, I ordered mine by telephone about an hour before you and still backordered. Oh well, your update gives me hope!

More accurate shipping and order info. Lists phone as "in progress" and even gave me a tracking number and carrier -- even though the phone hasn't shipped yet. More info than customer service had.
This is definitely the last time I order from AT&T.

There's still time. Plus, there's stories of people never receiving a status update and still receiving their phones on time. Even if you miss the Friday cutoff, I can't imagine you would be too far behind.
