ATT iPhone 5 Pre-order thread

Ordered a 16 GB white iPhone 5 at 2:52am est (was able to get in early somehow) from the regular AT&T wireless site.

As of this morning, my debit card has not even been charged or pre-auth'd (husband works at our bank), but one AT&T order screen shows a FedEx tracking number (not derived from my phone # or order # btw), but still "processing," not shipped. The other order screen on my account page still just shows "in progress."

I was worried bc even though I ordered extremely early, there hadn't been any activity on my debit card, but all is well apparently! #
 
Just want to reiterate that if you have shipping info, please post the approximate time that you went to back order=0. And also if you are premier or regular.

I preordered a 16GB Black on Friday around 10:30am EDT. I never had a backorder status. My status currently says "Shipped" but I do NOT have a tracking number yet.

Yes. Plently of instances of this happening w/ Premier customers. Many reporting there phones are off b/o or shipped. Scan though this thread.
 
I ordered a 32GB Black around 6am EST and I just logged in and it shows a tracking number! As someone mentioned earlier, the tracking number has no tracking information on the FedEx site since FedEx hasn't picked it up yet (probably tonight or tomorrow). (It still says qty shipped 0)

see. that makes me mad. haha. i ordered 6 hours before you, and still show back-ordered.

im seeing lots of folks who ordered after me that have already received tracking numbers. i guess its random at this point.
 
It appears the 16 and 32 are being shipped first, then the 64...makes sense since that's probably the bulk of their orders. I don't think it's FIFO if they have to sort, match up phone/accts, rebox, ship for the most part manually. Hopefully, my 64 will be handled by someone with quick hands :p

My order conf screen page, however, did say I'll receive on 9/21. So I'm going to take ATT at their word.



Don't freak just yet. I ordered at 5am EST too and just went off b/o yesterday evening. I noticed many people who's ordered went off b/o before me. I fully expect my order will ship by tomorrow. ATT could do a much better job communicating order status but I think bottom line everyone who ordered by proverbial cut off time, especially if placed in the early hours will receive their phone on Fri. Whatever ATT's shipping algorithm is it wasn't built to be decodable by common sense.

Yea mine didn't come off back order til about 11:00pm cdt last nite, got the email about the same time, i ordered through premire at 7:30am cdt on 9/14
 
My Order as of this morning now has a tracking number assigned to it. I ordered through att.com (regular) at 3:04AM EST on 9/14.

YES. I ordered my phone at 9:45am -- and it is going through. 16GB Black. I have a tracking number and carrier -- the phone is listed as "in progress," which means it is at AT&T in Texas.
 
I ordered at 2:30am CST on 9/14 but ran into a CC verification issue. My order status lists a date ordered as both 9/14 and 9/16 with the same order number. I was told that the order would still deliver by 9/21 when I called to update AT&T with a CC # that matched the billing address. As of now, my order hasn't changed from backordered.

Anyone in a similar situation receive shipping confirmation yet?

3PM and your status is shipped? If true...then there's still hope for me. Ordered at the AT&T store about 10:40AM Eastern on Friday and they told me 14-21 days. Status is still backordered (32gb Black). Still expecting the worst, but this is definitely promising!

EDIT: Forgot to mention I'm a Premier customer.
 
Im a little concerned. I ordered at 3:06am EST on the 14th. I received 2 confirmation emails shortly after that. It still says "processing". I have no other info about it. All it said that i will receive it on launch day on the 21st. I ordered a 32GB White iphone. Is anyone else on the same boat?
 
One more bit of info for those unfamiliar with how ginormous fulfillment centers work.

A normal business has a shipping dept and the FedEx guy comes and picks up packages once or twice a day depending on size and nature of bus.

Big fulfillment cos. are difference since all they do is ship. FedEx and UPS leave empty tractor trailers at the warehouse dock. The dock workers then fill up the trailers throughout the day. When one is full they start a new trailer. Then at specified time Fedex/UPS drivers pick up the trailers and take them the local hub, unload to a plane to the main sort center in TN/KY, respectively, where they are routed to your home town for delivery.

So if you have a non-working tracking number, it will tonight.

Order still in progress and no backorder but checked my debit card and the charge is no longer in process or charged. Anyone else in the same boat?

Here is my story:
I preordered 32GB iPhone 5 in Black 4 minutes after preordering was available on ATT site (not premier). I got a confirmation right away and an email an hour later saying that my iPhone would be delivered on the 21st.
When I track my order, backordered=1 and it says Prepared for Shipment.
From the thread, I gather that people who preordered iPhone way after me are already seeing tracking info.
Can anybody advise if it is likely iPhone will still be delivered on 21st? Anybody in same situation as me?

Ordered 8:15am est. 16gb black for me and 16gb white for wife. Seperate orders done about 5 mins apart.

Black is still showing backordered.
White shows zero backordered but awaiting shipment info.

Yea i got my money back today, its good always happens before they ship.
