I've been reading for days, just decided to chip in

So, I figure I'll chip in because I've seen a few people ask specifically for info on my situation from anyone out there :)

I ordered the phone (32 white) on Friday, at 8:45 am Central (9:45 am Eastern)

I was not a new customer and ordered online (I am not Premier), so after some back and forth with ATandT I figured out I didn't need to worry about the TandCs email.

I was originally backordered, and then my authorization dropped. No one at ATandT could provide me with any truly specific information on either event. At one point a rep told me "Well, it could maybe arrive on Friday. But it could be more like the 4th or 6th of October. Or maybe the 14-21 days. It could be anything."

Around 9 am yesterday my backorder changed to 0

Around 9 am today my status changed to "shipped" -- no tracking numbers.

Im glad I'm gonna get mine on Friday - hopefully this gives some hope to the 32g White phone people out there :)
 
Even if they logged the order for the next day?

Other premier customer w/ that situation have posted their order is b/o=0, so seems to be yes. But ATT's CSR and fulfillment centers clearly have no open line of communication so until its shipped we are all riding blind. But logically, from what we've seen with now officially "shipped" orders, I think if b/o=0 at end of today then it delivers 9/21.

I was told that I have to wait even though I got a confirmation email saying that I would get it by 9/21l. Darn AT&T. Their customer service is terrible. Not even willing to help in anyway even though it was a screw up on their end...

To everyone saying people are complaining too much, listen here. It's not about which carrier will get you your phone faster, or whatever. It's about customer service, and about information. It really is not too much to ask for a service you are buying something from to give you an honest indicator of if your order has shipped or not. AT&T's service on this has been nothing short of unacceptable.

For starters, since I ordered on Friday, I've seen three completely different order status pages, each with completely different information. Talk about confusing your customers. Just the fact that there are 3800 posts on this thread asking about this proves the point that AT&T has 100% completely dropped the ball on this. You don't see this with Amazon, or even Apple. I've preordered every other iOS device straight from Apple, and never had to go through this crap of false/misleading/confusing information before.

Top it all off with a confusing "confirmation" email basically saying "we know you ordered an iPhone, but we don't have any new information for you". I mean, come on.

It would be great if AT&T has end to end integration with it's shipping pipeline so that we had up to the minute tracking information. That would be wonderful. But I would even settle for a less confusing user experience with an integrated, understandable, order status system. That, at least, would show respect for the customers who pay you 1200+ dollars a year.

I've been a happy AT&T customer since they were Cingular, but this experience has almost made me drop them and go somewhere else. It's not about getting the iPhone on day 1. I wouldn't mind standing in line to wait for it. But the whole point of a preorder is to make the experience less stressful, and believe me, I enjoyed waiting in line for the iPad 2 WAAAAY more than I have enjoyed putting up with AT&T's incompetence when it comes to customer service and status updates.
 
That sucks. But you won't get it any sooner from Verizon now.

Sure I will, if I go stand in line Friday morning. :) Or, if that fails, standing in line one day next week will probably still get it to me sooner.

What kills me about AT&T is (1) their utter incompetence; and (2) they lie to customers. The CSR on the phone today told me they had attempted to place the order overnight last night, but my credit card was declined for insufficient funds. When I called Amex to ask, they tell me there have been no attempts from AT&T against my credit card, except for a $1 test charge on 9/15, and I have plenty of sufficient credit line for the purchase.

Call me crazy, but I trust Amex a bit more than AT&T.

i haven't checked my email yet.

i got a problem with the email part though. i made the orders with an outdated email associated with my account. so i never received any confirmation email from the time i ordered the phones. but then i updated the email on my account but i haven't got any yet. i think. but as long as it says shipped, it's all good. i think att.com will post the tracking number on your account anyways like on apple.com right? i think what's more important is seeing the phones got shipped. :D

I received an email from ATT saying my payment has been processed and that it was charged today.

yesterday I received an email saying
From ATT Email said:
We wanted to confirm that your order is reserved and should arrive as soon as September 21, 2012

The status of my order online has not changed and still just says "Preorder Processing"

I place my order with ATT around 5:30 Central time on the 14th.
 
Ordered 32gb black Friday at like 8am.
Received an email yesterday saying thank you for staying with ATT and yada yada yada. Was different from the first email I got right after ordering.
Status is still at "Processing" though... should I not be expecting anything to show up at my door for awhile??
The email said "As soon as Sept 21" but that could mean any day just Sept 21 would be soonest..if possible.

edit: Nevermind, idk, went to Premier site (not logged in) and it still says Preorder process. But on ATT order form it says Processing..
 
Does anyone else have this? Where it says in Progress but I got my tracking number and such?

ok! white16 just changed status to shipped! i'm good! let's just wait for the tracking number which i'm sure will get by tonight!

PEOPLE DON'T BELIEVE THE CUT-OFF TIME. it's all BS. :D
 
I wonder if me placing my order(32 black) over the phone had something to do with how fast my order got processed? I ordered kinda late, 8:30am central, and went out of backorder, got all my emails and got shipped faster than a ton of people that ordered WAY before me.

I'm not sure that had anything to do with if. I placed my order over the phone at 7am cst and I'm still showing backorder.

Yeah I hope I get to know which one is shipping Fedex or UPS so I can call there office here and ask them to hold. Uselly they ship stuff to my place when I'm not home and I know I'm going to have to sign for it.
 
Would you rather have order status or a timely phone delivery?

I see so many posts here from people who are so upset about the level of information on order status available from ATT,

Keep in mind that the companies are processing many many multiples of their ordinary volume during the couple of week roll out period. If they designed and equipped their system for such infrequent spurts of this very high volume it would dramatically increase their fixed cost and that would have to be built into the price they charge us for monthly service.

The bottom line is that they've done a great job for me in the past actually delivering a preorder on time or close to it. So even if their status system lags a bit I think they are doing a great job handling the actual processing and shipping which is much more important to me than being able to keep apprised of my order status.
 
My 64GB black finally shows shipped, but no shipping number yet. My 16GB still shows processing, but no backorder, so hopefully it'll ship soon

Don't be too mad at them, poor soul that answered the phone couldn't help you even if they tried.

I cancelled my order if history proves the same as last year only the major Apple stores will have big lines.
