ordered mine on 9/14 before 9am PT. saw the authorization on my CC and got an email saying i'd be getting it on 9/21. over the weekend, the authorization drops off and my order is still pending. i call today and they say they had an issue with my CC. i get it all resolved and now it says my order was placed today??

i called back and they said they show the order being placed on the 14th, and that i should have no issues. i talk to a lady in chat and she says i won't be getting it til October? i then call them back and they say i'm fine. i have no idea what to believe. order has a date of 9/18 and backorder quantity of 1 listed on the order status site.

UPDATE:
called back today and talked to a lady that couldn't really give me any kind of information. said that if i didn't receive an email about my status being pushed back that i should't worry. but i also never got any email or notification about the credit card issue (not sure that i ever would have had i not checked myself). another lady in chat insists that my order has been pushed back. website says my phone is backordered. also received a text just now saying my pre-order has processed and i'll be notified when shipped. the lady in chat says she can cancel my order and revert my upgrade status. should i wait it out and see, or should i cancel and go wait in line? i already sold my iphone 4 on ebay, and told them i'd be shipping early next week.
 
Same thing with me. Black 64gb that is still processing. I ordered it at 7:50am on the 14th. Maybe they are just getting around to these later today. My confirm email says I would receive it on the 21st.

me too! I ordered at 12:50 16 white. no tracking either.
 
Ordered through Premier, 7am Pacific 9/14..... 32GB Black.

Mine says shipped, but with no tracking number yet...... there's hope for us Premier people yet! :):):):):)

why is anyone putting any stock in what the CSRs say, at this point? It's already been proven over and over that they are clueless.

Unless there' s a problem with your order that requires correction, save yourself the trouble of calling them.
 
Anyone who ordered late (afternoon-night) firday is showing '0' now on backordered status?

Stopped at ATT store day before yesterday to see if they had any info about my order: Black, 16 ordered at 9:03 AM on the 4th. They told me that any phone ordered before 11:00 AM on the 14th would get their phones on the 21st.
 
I woke up made coffee and ordered at 9:30am EST on the 14th. Mine says shipped as of today.
 
Same thing happened when the 4 came out. Don't worry you should be fine. The whole first come first serve stuff is got to be BS. I ordered my 4 after the sun had come up and I got it a day early.

Go figure, I ordered at 9:03 EST at ATT store and i'm still back ordered. There must be a system at work here;I just can't figure it what it is.

It shows my 64 gb black phone as "in progress" and "pending shipment". Very strange since the order status page whe i am signed in to my att account just shows "processing". Anyway, looks like I am going to get it on Friday. I did not order it through premier.

I am thinking 8am est on Friday morning was the cutoff, since I ordered at 7:50am est, while people who ordered at 8:10am est are pushed back to October.

I just think its weird that none of the phone reps can say anything definite but the online chat people are always so sure of themselves

This is EXACTLY, line by line, the same thing that happened to me. Ordered early Friday morning, everything seemed to process fine, but after noticing yesterday that I had no activity on my CC, I call AT&T to find out that there's an issue with my card (I received no notice of this from AT&T, and my order status never showed it). They then run it again, and it goes through fine. I was told on the phone that because I hadn't received any notice or anything being flagged, that my iPhone was still reserved for me, and that my order would process as if it was still placed on the 14th.

After noticing later yesterday that online, my order date had been changed to the 18th, I do an online chat at which point the agent tells me that because of the CC issue, I now won't receive my phone until the October shipments. I then call back, and am told that I'm still scheduled for delivery this Friday. And as of this morning, I have received a new email with my CSS, but my order status still shows as backorder. So it seems that no one at AT&T really knows what's going on. I'm just going to wait it out and see what happens.
 
My experience

So here's my experience... A little disappointed, but I guess if I still get a phone in the end, that's all that really matters.

I called Premier support line on 9/12 to inquire about my upgrade eligibility (the website told me that I had to pay the "non discounted" price). For every other iPhone release, they had allowed me to get a new phone at the "discounted" upgrade price since I've been with ATT forever and I have 5 lines on associated with my account. The CSR told me that they would definitely do that again for me but I needed to call and order through them, and not do it through the Apple website or the ATT website.

9/14 rolls around and I call them around 640am PDT. Get through to a CSR and she starts to process the order but then tells me that their systems are slow and that I should call back in an hour. I call back around 845am PDT and talk to a different CSR who says she can't give me the "discounted" price ($199 for the 16gb) and so I ask to speak to her manager. The manager again refuses to honor that price but tells me that I can "use the upgrade" from a different line associated to my account to get the price I want. Seemingly out of options, I agree to that and he places the order for me. He tells me that I will very shortly get an email about Terms and Conditions and that I need to accept that right away as it will lock in my order at that point. I get the email and accept the terms. Now it's about 945am PDT.

I don't get any other confirmation email from ATT after that, so I call the Premier line again and ask them to confirm that my order has been placed. The CSR assures me that it is and that I'm going to be getting my phone on the 21st.

Fast forward to Sunday 9/16... I FINALLY get some email from ATT telling me that my order was placed (I'd been checking the order status online during the weekend with no results and assuming that it was just that their systems were lousy). Of course, now my phone is on backorder and I have no idea when I will get it.

I think everyone from Apple to ATT Verison and Sprint are overloaded due to the demand being so much stronger than anyone anticipated. It will all sort out eventually.
