ATT iPhone 5 Pre-order thread

Just got off the phone with AT&T and they stated I would get my phone between Oct. 4th - 15th because my terms and conditions were not accepted until 2 PM EDT on 9/14 even though I ordered online at 6:50 AM EDT and my credit card has been pending for the full amount since 10 AM EDT on 9/14. Any one else having this problem or do still have a chance of getting it tomorrow?
ok ok, I have looked at this thread for hours yesterday. I figuered I had to join in on this. It's kind of therapeutic in a weird type a way. I guess it just makes you feel a little better when you find out that you are not the only one getting screwed over by at&t.
So my story is:
Tried to stay up to 3am est on the 14th, didn't work out, feel asleep on the couch. I got up at 8am and went right to the apple site. I saw a 2 week delivery estimate, talk about being disappointed and depressed at the same time. I really wanted it from apple due to the fact that I had a gift card. So I went to at&t, went through the process and saw it said I would have it on the 21st. I almost fell off the chair. I was like this is my second chance. Got my order for the white iphone 5 16gb through by 8:30am est, received the now famous confirmation email at 8:59am est stating "Your iPhone 5 will be delivered on 9/21/12." Ok so far so good! Went through the day hoping I snagged the phone. But with at&t you never know. Started reading the forums and saw how everyone was freaking out and getting upset. This is when I started obsessing about my order. Received my email stating my order was processed and it was sent to the warehouse for shipping. I kept feeling more and more confident. Then someone posted the secondary link for order status. This one said still processing and back order one. I kept my cool but was slightly loosing it. Why was it sent to the warehouse if it doesn't even exist since it's backordered. Then I made the biggest mistake ever and tried chatting with at&t. I asked them why my order was back ordered after I was told that my phone was sent to the warehouse for shipping. I also told them that I received the email stating my phone "WILL BE DELIVERED ON THE 21ST". He goes " I'm sorry for the delay, but you will receive your phone in 14 -21 days, probably mid October. That was it, the twig just snapped, I started yelling luckily I was the only one in the office at the time. WTF!!!! I told myself I wouldn't get so upset over this, but these forums got me so wrapped up in it. I never tried to get a release day phone before but figured I'd give it a shot. I just ended the chat. I was just really po'ed for the next couple of house. Around 3pm est my back order turned to 0. Around 7pm est it said ordered on the 14th, shipped with no tracking, carrier, ect... I was starting to get some hope. Kept checking till about 11:30pm est, still the same. Checked this morning and BOOM tracking and it said fedex. I closed my eyes and clicked the tracking number. It went to the fed ex site and there it was. My phone shipped this morning the 20th and was already picked up in Texas. Basically fell of my chair for the second time.
So what I can conclude form this insane experience is:
1. whatever you do DO NOT CONTACT AT&T. They have no idea what they are saying and you will just get upset and let down.
2. If your backorder zeros out, your phone will most likely ship out today.
3. My fed ex tracking has no relation to my phone number, so maybe that's just a rumor or just a UPS thing.
4. Just go by your order status page. Don't listen to any of the posts that say the CSR said this or that. They really have no idea. Look I was told I have to wait until mid October and mine was shipped this morning and its on its way.
I unfortunately have a feeling after today there will be a bunch of threads stating how people missed their deliveries.

9/19 - Recvd email from Premier my order would ship in 14-21 days
9/19 - After email above my order went to shipped
9/20 - Went from shipped to NA to processing
9/20 - Just went back to shipped and now have a tracking number showing overnight delivery

I preordered iPhone 5 32 GB in Black at 12:04 AM Pacific Time so 4 mins after preodering went live on regular ATT site (not premier). My order as of 2 minutes ago is still showing as backordered (=1) while many other people who ordered hours after me had their phones shipped yesterday. Is anybody in the same boat as me? Were anybody's iPhones backordered today and shipped today?

My tracking number is now working. Says it will be here tomorrow!!
All these horror stories made me question it. But the process was smooth. No complaints from me about how AT&T handled it.

Finally got a tracking number overnight! Scheduled delivery for Friday via FedEx.
32GB Blk ordered 8:38AM EST 9/14 via regular website (new customer with port from Verizon)
--Came off backorder status at approximately 12PM EST 9/18
--Location: New Brunswick, NJ
--STILL no other emails other than the initial confirmation email received right after order was submitted. No shipping confirmation email either.

Seeing all the replies with 1612 orders backordered i am beginning to wonder if some series like 1612 were not processed or just not getting their status updated. Hopefully it's the latter.

Yup, same here. Trying to find a way to be able to sign for package, so they can just leave it there, I don't see anything on FedEx's website for that though. I ordered at 4:34p EST on 9/14. I got an update from premier yesterday confirming that my order is reserved and will ship in approximately 14-21 days. I'm a little ticked that my order date is later, but I see this happened with a lot of people who went through premier.
I knew I wouldn't get the phone Friday, but i just hope I'm not pushed way back. My order# starts with 4296!! No where close to the #'s that start with 1's shipping out now.
I will just live vicariously through ya'll who are getting theirs shipped out now!

Sounds like we're in the same boat. I think I'm canceling and switching services.
Mine just got updated with tracking # too. Sitting in Kentucky at the moment but it says delivery tomorrow.
Keep in mind that certain delays could also have to do with which particular phone you ordered and its availability. I ordered my upgrade on the AT&T site at 9:34EST and I got the UPS tracking number yesterday evening -- mine is a Black 64GB.
My wife couldn;t decide which color, so didn't get her's order until almost two hours later (11:21EST) and it still shows as "processing." Hers is a White 64GB, so I don't know if the reason is due to the 2-hour difference or the different phone.
Regular or premier. If regular then they are B.S. because you had to check the T&C box to check out. But don't rely on anything CSR says. Remember they told everyone last week that ALL iPhone would ship on 9/21, despite what the website said. They have been exposed for the mindless parrots they are. We've seen people in this thread be told by CS they won't rec until Oct and then that very second UPS sends them a delivery heads-up for tomorrow.
Clearly the online dept isn't communicating with CS or CS heads aren't communicating with their employees or employees aren't reading bulletins. So ignore. And it seems some online orders aren't updating in a timely manner as well. Either your phone comes tomorrow or not, but spare yourself the agony of dealing with CSR.
Mine flipped from backordered to not backordered last night about 11pm, it's been flipping around today until I got a tracking number. I would expect yours to ship today and for you to receive a tracking number later today unless you had some issues with your CC being declined last Friday/Saturday which might have bumped you down the list. If you didn't have anything like that I would expect your to change today.
FYI - I intermittently can't access the order status page from Safari but Firefox seems to work everytime.

I called AT&T two days ago, they told me I wouldn't get my phone tomorrow said it would be 14-21 business days, just checked, and I have a FedEx number working and everything says it'll be here tomorrow.
1612 here. Order for two blacks--a 16gb and 32gb--went through Friday at 8:57am ET. Have UPS tracking number for shipment tomorrow.
