Ugh. I talked to them yesterday and everything is A-OK. Now it looks like my billing address was wrong. Does not look like I am getting it.

ATT iPHONE 5 16G

If at&t doesnt send me any information by the end of today I am going to be pissed! But then again, they could send them all next day air delivery, so maybe by tonight everyone who ordered on time will get it, Cross my fingers

you guys sure? I ordered around 8:34AM EST and my order is 1010100305xxxx and it's shipped. How come my order # is in a different range? I ordered from Premier.

Ordered from premier at 6:23 AM CST, my order number is

1019100189987xxxx

Waaaaaaaaaaaaah! I ordered @ 11:30ish AM, CST, 9/14/12. Exactly when should I expect to receive my phone? I'm happy for all of you getting shipping notices for tomorrow...and I'm insanely jealous, too!:p

Kudos to who first posted this update link (it is more up to date than the "myatt" site):

also to the guy who talked to FEDEX yesterday and found out tracking numbers would appear this morning.

I got a good nights sleep and now have tracking number with delivery tomorrow like many of you.

So the guys in the ATT store were absoluley correct. If I pre-ordered early at the store on 9/14 it would arrive at my house in 5 business days (Friday 21st)

Spot on ATT

I went in the store to ensure my unlimited data plan would be Grandfathered and got the preorder paperwork showing that it is. Hope it stys intact during activation!

So now that my phone has shipped, how much of a risk would it be to call FedEx and ask them to deliver it to my office instead of my home? Could that mess up my delivery which is scheduled for tomorrow?

I highly doubt they'd do that. UPS won't. Usually the shipper has to change that, otherwise it's a liability(Fraud).

FOR FEDEX DELIVERIES-

I spoke to FedEx and they confirmed that there is in fact NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED. I suspected this would be the case as they didn't require one last year either. I'm not sure if this is a Premier thing or what. But again, they left it at my door last year too...

Use this to track your package. The one by default sent by AT&T in the confirmation email, for some reason, isn't as detailed.

I ordered at 2:56 am EST as the page was going live. FedEx says I should get it by 3 pm tomorrow.

I am a Premier customer, I am the IT director for my company, have been for 5 years. Previous to this I was the telecom manager for a 500+ employee company using AT&T as the wireless provider.

I have had the same Premier account manager for 8 years, I requested her when I went to my new company. Switched current company from Sprint to AT&T first week I was on the job.

I will either make you mad with this information, or make you feel warm and fuzzy.

1 - Do not trust AT&T Premier order status tool - it sucks, always has. Use the standard AT&T order status page at https://www.wireless.att.com/order_status/. Use your wireless # to search, not the order number. AT&T uses multiple numbers for each order. You have your order number, a web order number, a non-premier order number, and a compass order number -- all assigned to your single order.

2 - No tracking # yet? No worries. AT&T has always been VERY slow to post updates to the order status tool. It's an automated process but the updates take forever to load. This is true even when it's not a iPhone launch event.

3 - If you are back ordered still, don't panic yet. My phone from the iPhone 4 pre-order was back ordered until 10:00 am ET the day it was to arrive. I got tracking information at 10:15 am ET that day and it showed up an hour later.

4 - Do NOT call AT&T and ask what the heck it going on. They know NOTHING. They are using a 3rd party/temp workers to fill orders. My Premier account manager flat out told me, "I can tell you what AT&T wants me to, which is a script for all employees, or I can tell you the honest truth". I chose truth, and she flat out said, "I have no idea and I can not get you an better information that what is available online at this time -- I simply can't see any more details that you can using the order status tool".

5 - People that say I was talking to an AT&T rep and they said a major screw up happened and no phone will ship or everything is 14-21 days, etc -- Sure -- do you believe everything you hear from the major news outlets too?

Now to make some of you upset.... I pre-ordered 4 phones last Friday at various times of the day. Each order was individual, I did not order more than 1 phone on each order.

7:55 am ET - Ordered #1 16GB Black: Just got the tracking # this morning, was back ordered until last night.

8:20 am ET - Order #2. 16GB White: Showed shipped Wednesday afternoon, got tracking # this morning.

12:55 pm ET - Order #3. 16GB Black: Shipped before all other orders, showed shipped as of Tuesday afternoon. Tracking # populated last night.

2:35 pm ET - Order #4. 16GB Black: Shipped before order #1 and order #2. Order tool showed shipped Wednesday morning, tracking # populated this morning.

As you can see I placed 2 orders well beyond the cutoff time being passed around. All ordered shipped FedEx from Ft. Worth, TX and all are in-transit this morning. I have received several emails from Premier, each with differing information from "Scheduled to arrive by Sept. 21 to 14-21 business days".

AT&T is 100% covering butt's here folks. I would say the exact same thing if I was them... under promise and over deliver. Tell people 21 days but deliver quicker = happy customers.

For those of you that have called and chatted -- and I have seen some of your rude comments posted here (which by the way is your business, not mine, and I fully understand, it's your money, not mine) but I would not be surprised if AT&T didn't push your order to the back of the line just for giggles -- don't think it can/could happen? Think again -- you are 1 customer of 80+ million, it's not the end of the world if they upset you and you walk away. When someone at my company screams and demands I do something quicker than scheduled, guess what? I move them to the back of the line. Same thing happens every single day at every single company.

Moral of this story.... AT&T is not perfect, no one is, including you, the one reading this. This same thing happens every single year and people lash out saying "I got screwed, AT&T sucks, why did you get your phone before me, I ordered first, etc" but it's just the way the business world works - mistakes happen, and will continue to happen. If you knew you 100% had to have your iPhone 5 on Friday or your entire world was going to end, you should have already been in line at an Apple store.

Man I didn't attempt to order at any special time. I just did it spare of the moment. Kinda late I think too. Mine is shipping from AT&T directly. I am on Verizon so after thinking to leave I finally budged and pre-ordered.

I don't know what people are referring to when they say 'accept terms & conditions' I don't ever remember having to do this. I bought the original iPhone from Apple, iPhone 3G from AT&T retail store, iPhone 4 from AT&T website and iPhone 5 from AT&T website and don't think I was presented once with a 'terms and conditions' form to agree to or sign.

How could you complete the transaction without agreeing to something like that if it exists / is necessary?

Are these for new contracts? I've always had an AT&T contract..

PS: My 32GB iPhone is at a local FedEx station in Newark, NJ. Not exceptionally local to Philadelphia, PA but a lot closer than it was an hour ago, Fort Worth, TX

If you used the regular site you checked the box, you just don't remember because we've all been conditioned to scroll though legalese online and check "OK". Plus with the excitement and pressure to order quick there was even less incentive to pay attention and just checkout as quick as possible. But you agreed to T&C or you couldn't checkout online. If you didn't click the box you'd get a nag message when you tried to check out telling you you had to agree to the terms.

Every time you get a new subsidized phone, be it full or partial, you agree to a new 24 mo term.

Glad your transaction went so smoothly. I have to admit...at least so far, the AT&T store didn't lie to me, they said 14-21 days is when I should expect my phone (still backordered). What time did you order on Friday?

Just adding to the count of those who have ordered in store, and are still backordered.

I was second in line at the store, and had my order placed by 8:15AM CST for a 16GB Black. Got an email around 8:45 AM CST indicating the 14-21 day delivery time, and wasn't too concerned due to the chaos that always happens on an iPhone release.

However now that it seems everyone else, except those of us who waited in line at an AT&T store, have tracking information... I'm a little frustrated.

Before we get more comments on getting our ducks in a row, I too have always been an upstanding AT&T customer with no late payments... and I have any credit card declines, banking issues, so on or so forth :)

I'm not sure they are correct universally just maybe your situation perhaps. Many of us got the same message from them after preordering early and are stuck in back-order status. Seems to be pure luck/sporadic or a very secret system of dispersing the phones.

My tracking finally popped up. Ordered 8AM 9/14 through AT&T. Shipped Via FedEx :) delivery by tomorrow 9/21 3PM :)

Mine too

Ordered at 7:13am on 9/14. Order 1612XXXX. Still on backorder.

I called them twice yesterday. One told me I would get it on 9/21, one said 10-14 business days. Chat said 10-14 business days.

If nothing changes on the order status by tomorrow morning, I'm going to go buy one and just return the other one whenever it shows up. I'm still holding out hope. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason why some who ordered earlier aren't getting theirs. I wouldn't be shocked if its a data issue with their order status system.

order 1612 still backorder.. Ordered on 9/14 at 0200am

Shipped with tracking # from UPS. But only says a label has been created on the tracking page. What do you guys think?

Well I finally came off backorder yesterday from my 7am cst order for a 16gb black, I woke up this morning hoping to find that my order had shipped. Instead it now shows backordered again with a order date of 9/16 instead of the 9/14 it had been showing?? Confused to say the very least!

I also just noticed that the order number is now different??

Agreed no one is perfect & some people went over the top in their anger. But it's not that ATT isn't perfect it's that their communication with consumers is pathetic and causes unnecessary confusion. At any given time this week you could call 3 CSRs and get 3 different stories. NO ONE knew what the heck was going on, and instead of trying to find the truth, made up what can now be proven to be flat out lies. That is what annoys people. I don't understand why you want to make excuses for them. Plus it's not like this is their first iPhone rodeo, yes rookies like VZW and Sprint didn't seem to go out of their way to disseminate disinformation to customers.

My tracking number is now working. Says it will be here tomorrow!!

All these horror stories made me question it. But the process was smooth. No complaints from me about how AT&T handled it.

My only complaint is 'lack of communication'
