Ordered at 7:13am on 9/14. Order 1612XXXX. Still on backorder.

I called them twice yesterday. One told me I would get it on 9/21, one said 10-14 business days. Chat said 10-14 business days.

If nothing changes on the order status by tomorrow morning, I'm going to go buy one and just return the other one whenever it shows up. I'm still holding out hope. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason why some who ordered earlier aren't getting theirs. I wouldn't be shocked if its a data issue with their order status system.

Mine to is in backorder with the same order series 1612. 16 GB black ordered at 6.38 AM CST. Wonder why there are so many ppl with 1612 that are backordered.

ordered last friday, 9:15am, was told by email "will deliver on 9/21". other people who ordered way after me have their tracking info. and im still "back ordered".

anyone else? seriously, what the hell is going on here. the charge to my account never even came back. but i havent heard a word from ATT. no emails, calls, texts, nothing.

Agreed no one is perfect & some people went over the top in their anger. But it's not that ATT isn't perfect it's that their communication with consumers is pathetic and causes unnecessary confusion. At any given time this week you could call 3 CSRs and get 3 different stories. NO ONE knew what the heck was going on, and instead of trying to find the truth, made up what can now be proven to be flat out lies. That is what annoys people. I don't understand why you want to make excuses for them. Plus it's not like this is their first iPhone rodeo, yes rookies like VZW and Sprint didn't seem to go out of their way to disseminate disinformation to customers.

absolutely. In this day and age, you need to come up with something better than just backordered and shipped. Anyway, got my tracking number, it works and it is scheduled for delivery tomorrow

I ordered mine at 3:45 am on the 14th and it still says processing. I called AT&T twice and one guy was super rude and the other girl hung up on me. I'm never pre ordering again.
 
Got my tracking number, in Indy right now, want to Live Chat to see if they still tell me 14-21 days...if they do, i might let it go, or i might lay into them, seriously, just tell us the truth. thats all we want. if you dont know, tell me you dont know

I am by no means trying to make excuses for them, and I agree with your statement regrading terrible communication, hence the reason AT&T finally got a plan and told everyone 14-21 business day this week. That was there answer, the script presented to all AT&T customer facing employees. Under promise and over deliver. I am sure it took time for the script to make it's way to all call centers and all employees, hence the mass confusion for a couple of days. Could they improve on this, 100% without a doubt yes, and they should. In fact, history should prove to them they need this type of script every year.

And the icing on the cake? AT&T just announced that my city has LTE now!!! So happy I can't stand it.
 
FOR FEDEX DELIVERIES-

I spoke to FedEx and they confirmed that there is in fact NO SIGNATURE REQUIRED. I suspected this would be the case as they didn't require one last year either. I'm not sure if this is a Premier thing or what. But again, they left it at my door last year too...

Is there anymore confirmation on this?
My FedEx status screen doesn't say anything about signature required.
I would think it would if it were required.

I will be home for it but just in case I run out, it will be nice to know.
 
Just received both tracking numbers for my 16gb white iPhone and 32gb black iPhone. Shipping through Fedex.

My status didn't change till yesterday afternoon from "Processing" to "Shipped" and even then I didn't receive a tracking number until today.

Just dropped off Back Order in the last 10 minutes!

Seems there is still hope even though I was just told 14-21 Days.

I guess the lesson I'm taking away from this is not to be ridiculously anxious and tear my hair out. Everything turned out all right.

Ordered 3:30 pst am on the 14th through premier, order date said 15th, cc pending charge didn't even include tax, wasn't even able to access order status until Tuesday, and was actually pending shipment until this morning at the latest. So many places to go wrong but I'm pleased to report shipment is underway.

Ordering through apple is far more transparent but also far more popular, and AT&T, in my limited experience, is a fair alternative if you aren't the neurotic type.

Honestly, AT&T has been good to me so my frustration is restrained. I would greatly appreciate, though, a solid reason for how they are distributing the phones. What is the method to their madness. It's certainly not FCFS.

You only have 30 days for AppleCare+. They need to inspect the phone and make sure there are no damages to it.
