I have seen some people on here order rather late and still have their order ship. As long as you are not backordered and you did not receive an email stating that it will be 14-21 days.
Keep watching the status throughout the day. I think you may still have a shot.

I was told to call my retail store about it. They weren't able to tell me anything. Worthless exercise IMO. I think they're clueless.

I think they want to hold these customer until the end of year, they even no t let me to cancel it.:mad:
 
I ordered at 8am EST and have a Fedex shipping tracking number for tomorrow by 1500. ;)

I live in the DC area FYI and my phone left Indianapolis this morning.

Same here! Got tracking info and expected to arrive in DC by 3 PM tomorrow.

But, my credit card now doesn't have the amount charged. It is gone now. Does this have any significance? I'm assuming that will rectify itself soon enough

That's what they told me. They said this Friday when I ordered in the store. My email said a month out. I called the store back and they said I could not cancel the pre-order, regardless of what they told me. I said I have a broken phone. They said, in so many words, tough doodoo.
 
So looks like most (if not all) people that pre-ordered at an AT&T retail store, no matter how early, still do not have their phone shipped. Including myself. For me, I had mine done at 9AM CST and I received the order confirmation email at 10AM CST.

Has anyone called/chatted AT&T regarding the shipping status of pre-orders placed at an AT&T retail store and can share what they heard?

I ordered at 9:03 EST and got an email at 9:24 saying it would ship in 14 to 21 days. I went back to the store and they told me not to worry, it would be delivered on the 21st. I called this morning and they told me it would ship on the 21st and sent me an email to that effect. I'm betting on 14 to 21 days. What a ripoff.
 
Yeah that is also an option. Unfortunately for me I won't be there until Saturday anyway.

If you don't leave a note and the delivery attempt is unsuccessful they will hold it by default over the weekend since they won't attempt delivery again until Monday.

I feel for you... There's no way I'm waiting until Monday so I'm writing 2-3 notes and signing them all over the place. :D I need it this weekend!
 
I called FedEx earlier to ask about this. They will attempt to deliver on Friday. If you aren't there, they will attempt again on Monday. The package will be held at the shipment center over the weekend, and you can go there and pick it up on Saturday (make sure you verify the hours).

I'm in a unique situation- I'm in Chicago and the phone is being shipped to my parents hours in MN (billing address :mad:) and my parents are on vacation. I'm literally flying back to MN for 4hrs on Saturday with the sole purpose of picking the phone up. (I work for an airline so the flight is free)

I was about to say your insane until I saw the last line you wrote haha.
 
I just got a strange call from someone at ATT supposedly. The number they called from was 425-288-2869, I called it back and it's a direct line to the person that called. Anway, he called to tell me that the chat representative I spoke to had the wrong information about my iPhone arriving on the 21st and that it would be 14-21 days before I received it. I told him that mine had already shipped. He then asked me to forward the email to him that I received so they could correct their records. Why should I need to email that to him? A fraud suspicion arose as soon as they asked me to email my tracking number to him at an email that was his initials followed by 4 numbers @att.com . Am I being paranoid? Ha. I'm not emailing my tracking number to anyone!

They must treat every customer in same. They even told me "first come, first serve". W----T-----F:mad:
 
Ordered 3:25am. Got email purchase confirmation of delivery on 9/21

Still says processing even now so I called ATT

System says delivery estimate October 4-14. They have no idea why. No issue with anything.

I was about to cancel due to the delay. From what I have heard you can cancel, but it will take a few days to reset your eligibility for upgrade. That ends up putting you past the 21st for the release. If you can buy one at full price in person and get everything worked out afterwards remains the question:confused:

Remember you can pick it up from the shipment center on Saturday if they miss you on Friday. Look up your local center on FedEx.com. Just show your ID and walk out with you new phone!
 
finally gave in and called ATT, she says my order was not processed till 2pm so i missed the "first batch" and will get it between 10/4-10/15... even though I ordered at 9:15 and got my confirmation email that said "will deliver 9/21"... i did not order at 2pm!!!

what is this crap? seriously. shes saying its my fault i did not "accept the terms and conditions till 2pm"... i have NO IDEA WHAT SHE'S TALKING ABOUT? I NEVER ACCEPTED TERMS AND CONDITIONS AT 2PM! I ordered the phone at 9:15 and that was all! i got my confirmation email from ATT, and I never did anything else.

I am in the exact same boat. Ordered online at 6:50 AM EDT and the CSR said my terms and conditions was not accepted until 2 PM EDT on 9/14. She said this is not my fault and that the system messed up and didn't accept it right away when I placed my online order and that this is AT&T's systems fault but would not help me further or credit my account. Absurd.
 
Ugh. I can't help but be slightly irritated by the fact that I got up at 2am central to order my phone and I'm still on backorder without any related issues (like authorization, address, etc). Looks like I would have been better off waiting until I normally get up. I'll wait to see what happens today but I have a feeling I've been skipped over for some unknown reason.
 
this is off the topic. but has anyone of you changed the plan to MobileShare? it's kinda greedy att doesn't let you use facetime if you don't have the MobileShare plan.
 
My brother's pre order in store (2 32GB black iphone 5 and 1 16GB iphone 5 white). still shows as backordered.

He ordered it officially at 1045AM eastern time on Friday. That's what was printed out in his timed receipt.

So kinda of bull crap that he won't get his iphones shipped out on time.

I guess they are giving ATT.com pre orders priorities?

I am pissed cause he was going to get it up in Maryland and than ship it down to me to Florida. That way I will have the phone by Tuesday. But guess this will not be the case anymore.

He gave me his mother in law's upgrade so couldn't split the order to have it shipped to different stores.

You can't be serious...you mean to tell me that he ordered at 1045 and you thought that you would be getting the phone on launch day?!?!?!? You have to get up and order way earlier than that to even think about getting your phone on launch day....why would you be pissed because of your own stupidity?:eek:

Don't give any info out to anyone!! I remember for the 4s launch, it was reported that people were following delivery trucks and if the driver left the package at the door, it would get stolen.

I heard you can cancel if you ordered on-line, but the manager at the ATT store told me this morning I cannot cancel my in-store purchase, even if I'm still waiting for the phone in the middle of October. Go figure. Pretty poor state of affairs when you can't return something you haven't even received, but you have 30 days to return it once you do receive it.
 
I ordered at 7:13am Central on 9/14. Got an order confirmation email that said it would arrive on 9/21. Order status online says backordered.

I called them yesterday morning, CS said it would be here 9/21.
Called them last night, said it would be 10-14 business days.
Called this morning, said it would be 14-21 business days.
As of this morning, the pending charge on my card is gone. Also if I call in to the automated system, it says that they can't find my order number.

If I don't see status changes today, I'm going to go into the store to hopefully buy one tomorrow. You can always bring the one they are shipping you back within 30 days for a refund. I'm a new ATT customer, so I don't have to worry about upgrade issues.

I have not received any email saying my order date has been pushed out. My order starts with the dreaded 1612.
 
Yipee...mine switched from "processing" to "shipped"! The FEDEX link is live with a promised delivery of the 21st by 3:00pm. Have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised.
 
Here's a question for you all: is there anyone who lives in TEXAS (especially near the Dallas/FortWorth area) that has received shipping information?

I pre-ordered mine on 9/14 at 9AM CST at an AT&T corporate retail store as soon as it opened, but my backorder is still 1. I'm in Houston, TX so I'm wondering if mine will be shipped last minute since I live so close to the distribution center (its only about a 5 hour drive from Houston to Fort Worth).

Hi, I live very close to Fort Worth. It is funny to see all of the phones flying out of Fort Worth while my 64G black started in TN and is now in KY on the way here for delivery tomorrow by UPS. My order showed shipped yesterday about 6 pm and the tracking info from UPS finally showed up at 10am this morning.

Went to AT&T the morning of the 14th. They said it would be here on the 21st, but apparently they had no clue what they were talking about. Just got off the phone with a rep who told me it that if I ordered before 6pm, then my phone would be here 5-10 days AFTER the 21st. After 6pm, 10-21 days. :rolleyes:

Phone is still on backorder. Oh well.
 
Well it seems that we all learned a valid lesson this year. Don't go to the at&t store for preorders. Apple.com seems to be the place to go, even though their servers crash more than anyone elses.

I wouldn't trust anything ATT says.
